Madden 12 News Post

Jon Robinson of ESPN has given us our initial look at the team ratings for the AFC East in Madden NFL 12.

We're breaking down the team overall ratings for 'Madden NFL 12,' starting with the AFC East.
Who is the top team in "Madden NFL 12"? That's the question we are here to answer as ESPN.com and EA Sports bring you an exclusive first look at the Team Overall Ratings for every team in the game. We'll be leaking them out, division by division, over the course of the next eight days. But we won't stop there. After we give you the Team Overall Ratings, starting August 1, we will bring out the big guns with an exclusive look at the "Madden 12" Player Ratings, as well as a breakdown of the top five players from key positions. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. To kick things off, here is a look at the Team Overall Ratings for the AFC East.

Buffalo Bills: 73
The 28th ranked team in the game, and it's really no surprise when you only have two players on your roster rated an 89 overall or higher and one of those is your punter.

Miami Dolphins: 78
With two studs at tackle, this should give Chad Henne plenty of time to hit Brandon Marshall in the open field. But with Henne's 75 throwing accuracy, he might not always find the target.

New York Jets: 87
Tied for the fourth highest overall rating in "Madden 12," the Jets defense is a force to be reckoned with thanks to Mr. 99 overall Darrelle Revis, not to mention three other defenders rated 90 overall or higher.

New England Patriots: 88
The third best team in the game according to the ratings thanks in part to Tom Brady's 99 overall. But the "Madden" love doesn't stop there as the Patriots feature 21 players rated 80 overall or higher in the game.

And the Patriots with 21 players in the 80's , it could just be me but that sounds like a lot, even for them.
It says 3 other defenders. Probably Harris, Cromartie and Jenkins.

The post said 3 more DEFENDERS in the 90's for the jets.

I'm guessing besides REVIS

DAVID HARRIS
JENKINS
????

Yeah Harris has definatley got to be one of them, possibly Cromartie, other possibilities could be Jenkins, Ellis and maybe Bart Scott (although I wouldnt agree if he was one of them).

how can you have team ratings when there are 500 free agents unsigned?

# 5 Chowdah @ 07/20/11 01:40 PM
I can see now the pats are overrated there defense wasn't even good an very young. 21 players with a 80 overall that means there whole starting offense or defense has 80+ at every position.

Yeah that seems quite ridiculous. So basically there are absolutely NO weaknesses to the Pats? They can run, pass, run stuff, and more importantly pass rush with the best of them? Seems like overkill to me although I don't have any problem with the team overall. They are an elite team but 21 players with 80+ overall is surprising

No way should Cro be a 90+

If he is, I know whos rating I'll be editing first out of the box

Possible 80+ rated Patriot Players

QB Brady
WR Welker
WR Branch
TE Gronkowski
TE Hernandez
RB Green Ellis
RB Woodhead
G Mankins
K Gostkowski
T Light
T Vollmer
C Koppen
S Merryweather
S Chung
CB McCourty
ILB Mayo
NT Wilfork
DE Warren
CB Bodden
DT Stroud

While I cant say I would agree with all of these guys rated 80s and above, this is my best guess at who they could be, and I still dont have 20 of them, maybe missing a lineman or two and possibly a linebacker.

Didn't the Jets cut Jenkins?

Also, 2 Bills are rated 89. One is the punter... so I think it is safe to say that Kyle Williams is the other 89.

imo...
Bills - 65
Dolphins - 72

Kyle Williams is definitely the other in the 90's. He is the 4th best DT in the whole game:

I'm guessing Kyle will end up being a 94? 95? Probably no higher than a 95 and no lower than a 93. I don't care about the team overall as long as I don't have any huge problems with the individual player ratings

I'm guessing that Scott, Harris and (mistakenly) Jenkins are the other 90s. no way it could be anyone else.

Currently the unsigned players are on their teams from last year, according to the video's that have been released. Team ratings come from the player ratings on the team. So technically, they can have team ratings even without the 500 free agents being on a team.

I bet you are right about Scott which frustrates me. He is severely overrated on Madden every year in my opinion (at least since he's been with the jets). If he is a 90, they should bump him down to an 82.

That was my 1st thought when reading that too. No way Cro is a 90, I'd say 80.

Mainly because EA is keeping the lastest roster update from this past year alone until the CBA is completed. So in other words those 500+ players will remain on their current team until the first roster update is done later on after Madden12 comes out.

Yeah I dont think he should be an 80 overall either, but when I read how many Pats have an 80+ overall rating he could be one of them, even though I dont agree with it if he is one of them.
