LaPhonso Ellis Added to NBA 2K12 'Greatest' Mode

All right so it might not be Charles Barkley, Iverson or Reggie Miller, but it's still yet another player being added to the NBA 2K12 NBA's Greatest mode.

Ronnie 2K, one of the marketing maestros over at 2K Sports, told everybody via Twitter that LaPhonso Ellis is now going to be a part of the '93-'94 Nuggets squad that infamously took out the Seattle SuperSonics in the one versus eight matchup in the first round of the NBA playoffs back in 1994. (Who doesn't remember Dikembe sprawled out on the court at the end of that series?)

It's rather unique to see players still being added to a game at this stage, but it might just be the nature of the beast when it comes to negotiating with individual athletes.

That name sure brings back memories. I remember watching his East St. Louis high school team (Lincoln) win back-to-back state titles in the late 1980s. Those Lincoln teams were ferocious.

I was surprised to see that he was left off when they revealed the roster. Can't wait to play with that squad.

Second year I think. I believe LaPhonso was drafted top 5 in '92.

laphonso was pretty good until injuries...kinda reminded me of McDyess before McDyess was lol

I have no idea who that is, but adding him shows how hard 2K works and how dedicated they are to authenticity even with less than 2 months to release.

This leads to believe that several players that didn't sign will be "hidden" players on the disk again. It's seems way too late in the process for them to be adding guys from scratch.

do you have a list of the hidden players? i know Duckworth was one of them from last year..

Respect. This is a big addition. Ellis was vital to that team. Could this mean that potentially more guys/teams may be added during the season?? *crosses fingers*
