Richard Sherman Wins Madden NFL 15 Cover Vote

Seahawks Defender Defeats Cam Newton in Finale

The Legion of Boom has earned another accolade, as Seattle Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman has won the Madden NFL 15 Cover Vote. Sherman faced off against Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the finals and was revealed as the winner of the fan-voted cover in a special segment on SportsCenter. The announcement was made on the heels of the release of the first official Madden NFL 15 gameplay video, which features reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Luke Kuechly.

Sherman proved to be just as dominant off the field as he is on it, shutting down his opposition throughout the tournament. After dispatching Chicago Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery in the opening round, he also thwarted New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham and division rival Colin Kaepernick en route to the title. The fans have been especially active in this year's Cover Vote competition, casting approximately 10 million votes over the course of the contest, and averaging nearly 650,000 votes per matchup.

"Richard Sherman is a fantastic cover athlete selection by the fans," said Anthony Stevenson, Vice President of Global Marketing for EA SPORTS. "Defense is a big focus for Madden NFL 15, and Sherman is one of the brightest defensive stars in the NFL. He shares the same energy and passion for the game as our ‘legion' of Madden fans."

Madden NFL 15 allows players to transform into their rival's worst nightmare with a new breed of defense, built to challenge the best offenses in the NFL. A new arsenal of pass rush moves, an intuitive tackling system, improved coverage logic, and immersive new camera angles make defense more exciting and fun than ever. Fans can call plays with confidence thanks to an all-new crowd-sourced recommendation engine built from millions of online games played by the Madden NFL community. Add in all-new broadcast-inspired presentation and it's not just football, it's Madden Season.

Madden NFL 15 is developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon and will be available on August 26 in North America and on August 29 in the EU for Xbox One, the all-in-one entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. A version of Madden NFL 15 will also release on Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and the PlayStation®3 entertainment system. worst cover ever. Can we just have Vince Young again?

After watching the Madden Cover spectacle on ESPN and the fan fare that was on display, it's obvious that we won't get what we want as far as gameplay, equipment, etc! It's either buy the game or not!

Sherman, tied for 2nd in the league for most pass interference calls last year.

The past three years pass interference has been the third most called penalty in the NFL.

Just sayin'.

lol no..i made that cover...it was nothing to do with madden

Not at all surprised. Very predictable Richard Sherman would win.

No, not the one you made. We get it.

He's talking about the blank one and the cover they used at the announce.

EA highlighting Defense Improvements, fine, but the WR's/TE's need to make a play on the ball too.

As a Niner fan I am going to need the link to the custom covers that drop each year.

It's official. I'll be using the custom cover this year. I think it's the only right thing to do as a Bronco fan.

Hate to say, but glad Sherman won. We don't need the Madden curse in Charlotte.

Those aren't even close. The silhouette doesn't have dreadlocks, has a different facemask that almost no one in the NFL wears, and his arms and legs are in different spots.

Better question is do you seriously care if other people care who is on the cover of a sports video game?

Does anyone not think this cover vote is fixed every year? Peyton Hillis wins it one year and now Richard Sherman? Really? Richard Sherman? I guess it's just a coincidence that he wins it the year they're touting defensive improvements, right? EA should just announce who's gonna be on the cover and stop with this dog and pony show every year.

As a broncos fan, you realize that the 'hawks didn't beat you in the Super Bowl, right? You guys beat yourselves and Seattle was just in the right position to capitalize. You can't be mad at the team just because your team blew it.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more about beating ourselves. I'm also not much of a fan of Sherman anyway. So it just kind of goes hand in hand.

I don't. Let's go back to Calvin Johnson. He just broke Rice's record and is a top 3 wideout of all time. Huge reason for him winning the cover.

Sanders/AP. Peterson just had an insane comeback and was MVP. 25 year anniversary, plenty of reason to vote for the best running back of all-time and one that is in the conversation. Again, plenty of reason for them to get votes.

Sherman. Seahawks win Super Bowl, defense was very mainstream this season, he had the big play against the 49ers and the post game interview. Again, plenty of reason for him to get votes.

Riiiiiiight, do you realize how many people hate Richard Sherman? Last time I checked, he finished 7th among the 35 most disliked people in sports according to sports illustrated:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/pre...rts/?mobile=no

Somehow tho, he gets enough votes to win the Madden cover. Riiiiight.

Do you remember the bracket for the Peyton Hillis cover? Compared to the last couple years, it was loaded with names much higher than Hillis. There is no way that vote was rigged for Hillis. Since then, there have been obvious predictions (like this year with Sherman), but the positioning of the brackets or relatively weak other players with name value right now doesn't equal a rigged vote.

I mean, don't let that get in the way of the random bashing of absolutely anything associated with Madden.
