NBA Live 16 News Post

EA Sports has confirmed on their official Facebook page that NBA Live 16 will not feature NBA player or roster editing. That means, no accessory changes, no player rating adjustments, no changing jersey numbers, etc...

Maybe it gets patched in later? Maybe not, but this is not a good sign.

I hope their response was with only player editing in mind, and they overlooked the roster editing part -- but I would not count on it. Consider it a 'no' for both.

I'm in disbelief, I can't believe it got neglected once again. Player editing has been for years and I'm not sure why it was removed since their next-gen launch, people have been asking for it a lot in these last years and they still avoid including them? As good as today's trailer and Pro-Am news were my interest in this game has taken a hit, I might get the game anyway but it isn't a good choice to give less options or tools for the gamer specially when you're trying to gain the respect that you've once lost from the community.

Yeah that's really sad news I know way more people personally who play online modes than edit but it should've been in the game by now going on three years. I never touched the editing options but it's nice to DL some custom rosters for a dynasty mode

Some NBA players change their kicks on a game by game basis -- we should have been given the ability to do this, too. And I've been wanting to edit rosters in Live15 to reflect free agency/trade player movement this offseason, but nope.

I mean, I guess, if they determined that in the grand scheme of things (refining gameplay #1, followed by graphics/animations, ProAm and other modes, etc.) that they just didn't have the resources & time to get editing in, and that the lack of it wouldn't kill the experience, I guess I can understand that?

But it's been 3 years -- a team should have been assembled to make sure this got into the game this year. I don't know what to say. This kinda negates the great things revealed this morning. Still hoping there's other big news, like classic teams coming, that would certainly blow my socks off again. I'm still going to get the game because I know there will be gameplay improvements, obvious improvements in graphics/animations, and the new modes ... but damn.

While the scaled back editing is a little disappointing, I don't think the lack of full editing is a game breaker as long as they can deliver an authentic virtual NBA experience and continuously update via a working Synergy. Network stability and improved gameplay are much higher on my personal list of "musts" after seeing recent graphical and game mode improvements.

Basic roster and player editing should be in the game man....there's honestly no excuses for it at this point...

Give me roster management over "swagging myself out" any day...

Yeah, I was trying to hint to you guys that this wasn't in. My only hope is that the Synergy updates are on point so we don't have to deal with really outdated rosters like we did at certain parts of last season.

One of the things I learned from being there is that everything is triage. It's not an excuse by any means, but even though I agree with you, I think we both have to be realistic that for the game's health, if they had to choose one, they made the right choice.

Now, whether or not they should have had to choose is something else entirely, but we are where we are.

Definitely see where your coming from, I'm usually the one preaching about everything having a process ....the second part of your post is my issue, especially now that the game has been fleshed out. It was easier to buy into that with the first two installments. Maybe they can drop in and give some insight....

Big Big disappointment to see all those accessories and shoes and to know I can't edit the players myself is a big let down, i know they have a person that does editing but sometimes there's players missing accessories especially role players so this is a big let down. Smh

I hate to be this petty but its a no buy for me this year, i need player customization, not sure why EA games dont understand this, Madden has no edit player feature in CCM, the hockey game needed an uproar to get it in the game and now Live still doesnt have it at all. Its a basic feature that seems to be rocket science for EA lol maybe next year.

EA should ask themselves why does this section of the NBA Live forums stay empty while the competitions forums is always active OS

I mean seriously at what point do you consider your product top notch and able to compete on all levels with them?

I'm going to be real honest I get sick of having to be forced to play another B-Ball game ONLY because the game I grew up and loved continues to give bare bones flexibility to us when it comes to features we had even going back to the old PS2 days.

Another year many of us have to wait only to hear the words maybe next year all over again

To me, wrong accessories (as annoying as it is - and I am an accessory guy) is the least of my worries. I don't really like how many of the players play in their games. I always feel like I need to make them play more like themselves on my own...but can't.

Also, no need for "Wait until the roster update when Synergy kicks in". That's nonsense! You know pretty much how most players play BASED ON YEARS OF CAREER (you don't even need to be a die-hard stat guy to know that)! That should be there in the default roster.

I'm an offline gamer only, so I always like to edit players on my own or download a great roster by one of the specialists here. I never liked the Synergy, as far as NBA Live. Maybe it has great info in real life, but I always feel like players still don't play like themselves all the way. At least Live 09 and 10 allowed us to edit players and save our own rosters.

Those days seem like a dream.......

To me, it's like they took out icon-passing. It's been there for years, we take it for granted. It's not like asking for something that is extremely innovative and no game has ever had it.

Are minutes assigned for the rotations still gonna be Synergy controlled too?

Disappointed. How was this overlooked? Live update is still not where it needs to be and the past two games haven't given me hope. Is it such a time intensive task? Quick question, wasn't the base of Live 14 from Live 13 which was from the code base of Elite 11(Not a perfect analogy)? These options were there years ago. Can't this be patched in?
