Re: Detroit Tigers: Going for Broke in 2012 (MLB the Show 2012)
Fister Shines as Tigers Shut Out White Sox 5-0
The Detroit Tigers have not been particularly lucky this season. Based on their team batting statistics and their team ERA, they should be a lot better than .500. But a lack of timely hitting has hurt the team and the team as often failed to provide the offense for well-pitched games by their pitching staff. Friday the team put both sides together with a 5-0 shutout victory over the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park. Starter Doug Fister scattered 7 hits and struck out 8 in a complete game win. Austin Jackson had 3 hits and 2 runs batted in. The win evened Detroit's record at .500 and brought them within 3 games of 1st place Cleveland. Victor Martinez's 11 game hitting streak game to an end, while Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder extended their hitting streaks to 8 and 6 games, respectively.

Tigers Very Concerned By Sub-Par Performance Of Top Prospects
The Detroit Tigers have 11 prospects that their scouts rate as A or B on a A through F potential grading scale. Unfortunately ten of those 11 are off to rough starts and aren't particularly impressing much of anyone. For a team that may be looking to move some prospects for immediate big league help to make a run at a championship this season, this news is truly alarming.

Re: Detroit Tigers: Going for Broke in 2012 (MLB the Show 2012)
Tigers Win Thriller In Extra Innings On Cabrera Grand Slam, 8-5
Detroit may have played their most exciting game of the year and given manager Jim Leyland a heart attack in the process. Leyland said, "That was a wild one. We blew a three run lead, twice fell behind in extra innings and then won on a walk-off grand slam. Our fans sure got their money's worth on that ballgame."
The Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning thanks to wildness from White Sox starter John Danks had trouble finding the strike zone. Danks walked Victor Martinez, gave up a single to Delmon Young, walked Alex Avila, and then walked home the first run when he sent 4 wide to Jhonny Peralta. After getting two outs with the bases loaded, including a force at the plate on a Austin Jackson ground ball to 2nd, Brennan Boesch knocked in two with a single to right. However, that was all the scoring for Detroit until extra frames. Chicago got one back in the 4th, and 2 more in the 7th.
In the top of the 10th, Joaquin Benoit walked Kevin Youkilis, who was lifted for pinch-runner Orlando Hudson. Hudson stole 2nd and then scored on a double by Adam Dunn. Octavio Dotel came in and got out of the inning with no further damage and in the bottom of the 10th, with 1 out, Prince Fielder knocked an opposite field homerun to tie it up. In the top of the 11th, the White Sox again took the lead. Alex Rios singled, advanced to second on a walk to Alexi Ramirez, then took third on a fielder's choice ground ball to Fielder. Paul Konerko got the RBI to put the Sox up 5-4 with a flyball to left to score Rios. In the bottom of the inning, Avila opened up the inning with a single to center. Ramon Santiago pinch-hit for Peralta but popped out to the catcher. After striking out in his first 4 plate appearances, Ryan Raburn knocked a single and then Austin Jackson walked to load the bases. Brennan Boesch struck out chasing a 3-2 fastball outside the strike zone. Up came Miguel Cabrera, who was 0-5 up to that point. With two outs and bases loaded, Cabrera slammed a grandslam to center, 429 feet from the plate and the celebration began.

Re: Detroit Tigers: Going for Broke in 2012 (MLB the Show 2012)
defiantly following. I made a move for Castalennos on my chise and i really think i called him up too early. He's too good to be left in AAA, but seems over whelmed in the Major leagues.

my plan at this time is to leave him in AAA for 2013 as well. Victor Martinez is signed for 2013 as well so I figure I move Castellanos up in 2014 to play 3b and move Prince or Miggie to DH. It's why I haven't converted him to OF like they are doing in real life.
