I know right! Hopefully we'll get Vladdy back in the lineup soon. Might have to make some moves if the offence continues to struggle like they have this month.

Re: A New Era | Toronto Blue Jays (MLB The Show)

Roark Struggles As Tigers Take Sunday Rubber Match

The Toronto Blue Jays had high hopes when they signed veteran right hander Tanner Roark to a two year, $24M deal this past offseason. Fast forward three months into the season and the former Cincinnati Red was saddled with his eighth loss of the season after another rough outing - this time against the lowly Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers took advantage of an injury-riddle Blue Jays lineup, taking two-of-three from the American League East leaders. Detroit tagged Roark for five runs on ten hits as he was unable to escape the fifth inning. A three-run blast off the bat of Victor Reyes proved to be the difference maker for the Tigers, as they managed to hold the Blue Jays to just two runs on nine hits.

Billy McKinney represented one of the few bright spots for the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon, as he leadoff the ballgame with his 11th home run of the season. Toronto's bats would stay silent all the way until the sixth inning, where they would add their only other run of the ballgame courtesy of a Teoscar Hernandez RBI single.

Detroit starter Matt Boyd picked up his eighth win of the season, going six solid innings. The former Toronto farmhand and current Tigers ace allowed just two runs while picking up five strikeouts in the winning effort.

The Blue Jays get a much needed day off as they head back to Toronto and prepare to take on the Tampa Bay Rays. Historically, the Rays have always proven to be a tough opponent for the Blue Jays, and it will be interesting to see what manager Charlie Montoyo does in an effort to jumpstart the Blue Jays' offence.

Blue Jays Acquire Frazier, Riddle From Pirates For Three Players

The Toronto Blue Jays finally made a move to get some help for their injury-riddle infield, announcing that they have acquired second baseman Adam Frazier and minor league shortstop [b]J.T. Riddle]/B] from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for third baseman Patrick Kivlehan, outfielder Derek Fisher, and infield prospect Otto Lopez.

Toronto has lost six of their last nine ball games and are hanging on to first place in the American League East by a thread. They'll hope that the addition of Frazier can help to offset the injuries to Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Cavan Biggio, Bo Bichette, and Travis Shaw.

Frazier has regressed in 2020 after a solid showing in 2019, hitting .239 with five home runs and 21 RBIs for the National League Central-worst Pittsburgh Pirates. The 28-year old looks poised to bring some veteran stability to an extremely young Blue Jays lineup, and can be expected to settle into a utility role once the Blue Jays recover from their slew of injuries. While he has gotten most of his playing time at second base, the versatile Frazier can also play third base, shortstop, as well as all three outfield positions.

Riddle, comes to the Blue Jays as a 28 year old minor leaguer. With the emergence of Cole Tucker, Kevin Newman, and pending arrival of O'Neil Cruz, the Pirates had somewhat of a log-jam up the middle. Riddle has yet to play in a major league game this season, but has put together a respectable .285 batting average with six home runs and 22 RBIs at the Triple-A level. While he isn't a headline acquisition, the Blue Jays will rely on Riddle to hold down the shortstop position while Bo Bichette recovers from a torn pectoral. As of late, the Blue Jays have watched both Logan Warmoth and Kevin Smith struggle to .182 and .185 batting averages respectively.

Headlining the package going back to Pittsburgh is outfielder Derek Fisher, who struggled in early season action with the Blue Jays and was optioned to Triple-A. While the 26 year old Fisher has yet to make it back to the big league roster, there is still some potential in the former Houston Astro. The left handed swinging outfielder has put together a .268 batting average with 20 RBIs and 5 home runs in just 97 plate appearances with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

Lopez, 21, may be the most intriguing player headed towards the Pirates as a result of this trade. Most recently ranked as the Blue Jays' 25th-best prospect, the odds of Lopez ever making it to the Toronto lineup seemed small. A natural shortstop, Lopez had the obvious roadblock of young slugger Bo Bichette ahead of him. The ceiling is high for Lopez, and it will be interesting to see how the Pirates develop him in the years to come.

Lastly, Patrick Kivlehan represents the third and final player headed to the Pirates - presumably for salary implication purposes. The 30-year old most recently launching his first home run of the 2020 season and has seen limited playing time with the Blue Jays as a direct result of injuries to both Travis Shaw and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.. All in all, the numbers don't look pretty through six games for Kivlehan as he has struggled to a .143/.250/.500 batting line with just the one home run to his name.

In order to make room on the roster for their new acquisitions, the Blue Jays also announced that they have optioned shortstop Kevin Smith to Triple-A Buffalo.

The Blue Jays return to action tomorrow night at the Rogers Center as they welcome the Tampa Bay Rays into town. Expect both Riddle and Frazier to make their Blue Jays debut.

The Pirates are struggling and so is Frazier. Seemed like a good opportunity to try to acquire a player that can help the club offensively right now and provide some positional versatility when everyone is healthy again.

Re: A New Era | Toronto Blue Jays (MLB The Show)

Frazier Impresses In Debut As Blue Jays Sneak Past Rays

Newly acquired Blue Jays second baseman Adam Frazier made a splash in his first game with his new club, going 4-for-4 with a double while driving in the game winning run in the seventh inning.

Frazier provided the Blue Jays with just the little bit of extra punch that their lineup needed in order to put an end to their short two game skid. Toronto entered Tuesday's contest with a 3-6 record over their last nine games, partly due to a slew of injuries that have impacted the Toronto infield.

Danny Jansen and Billy McKinney both went deep for the Blue Jays, with Jansen's three-run homer in the fifth inning tying the game up and chasing Rays starter Yonny Chirinos from the ballgame. Both Chirinos and Toronto starter Matt Shoemaker struggled in their respective starts, with Shoemaker surrendering six runs and Chirinos surrendering five.

The Tampa Bay Rays were kept in the game by slugging first baseman Ji-Man Choi, who went deep twice with his ninth and tenth homers of the season.

The Blue Jays look to stay in the win column tomorrow evening against the Rays as they two clubs go head-to-head in the middle game of a three game weekday series.
