Re: Back to Glory: A Chicago Bulls Dynasty

Magic @ Bulls
(Note: Before you read the atrocity below. Make note that I turned up the Magic sliders to 60 in all offensive categories by the end of this game. I think it's time to turn up the difficulty. Plus I know the box score is jacked up with colors. Sue me.)

Bulls Make Easy Work of The Magic Taking Over The 4th Spot
By: John Weemus

There are some game that are too good to be true. Games when you play unstoppable. These are the games you usually see in video games. On occasion though, they pop up in reality and kick the losing team in the butt. This game was hyped to be a showdown of potential match ups in the play offs. The Bulls were sitting pretty 1 game ahead of the Magic in the 4th seed. The magic, of course, were in the 5th seed. So how does a game like this happen?

Over hyped and over rated is the conclusions I draw on. The game was over hyped. The Magic are overrated. How else could you describe a team that managed to put up 47 points against the starters of the Bulls? That fourth quarter looks pretty for the Magic only because the bench players faced off against the starters. They still managed to keep it close though. Atrocious, absolutely atrocious.

The worst part about this whole game is that there were zero adjustments made throughout the game by the Van Gundy. I think I now can see why Riley fired this guy. Perhaps I am being too hard on him but this was on national television that his team was destroyed. Not only that but if we were to go to the play offs now, the Bulls are who they would face. I am almost positive everyone knows what team would have my money on winning.

I will attempt to break down the key flaws to this game that caused the Bulls to destroy the Magic. I am probably too hard on the Magic and not giving enough credit to the Bulls. The Bulls defense was suffocating this offense the whole game. They made sure Howard would not get any offensive rebounds. Noah was clearly charged with that heavy task of boxing Howard out and well, it worked beautifully. Howard was limited to 2 rebounds over 3 quarters grabbing 5 in the fourth.

Second chance points definitely played a small role in the defeat of the Magic. They only had offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter. The worst part about the Bulls defense is that there was nothing special or tricky about what they were doing. Carter on the perimeter would draw some extra help. Howard in the paint would draw some extra help. The Magic were so thick headed that they failed to capitalize on so many opportunities to score when they drew the double team. Nothing changed throughout the game.

The Bulls starting bench all did their thing putting up double digit performances in scoring for each of them. I will add one thing to this story before I wrap up this not so exciting article for a not so exciting game. The greatest part about this game was watching the Bulls find their niche. When the starters were on the floor it felt like they were playing their game. It seems as if Boozer and Hill have adjusted perfectly to playing with the other starters. They have found chemistry! Not only that but they run the fast break unlike any other team I have seen in the league today. It was a treat watching them abuse the Magic running up and down the court. The best was when Rose dished an alley oop assist to Hill. Pure basketball at its finest.

Re: Back to Glory: A Chicago Bulls Dynasty

A GM's Perspective

Gar Foreman watched his team celebrate from up in his press box following an embarrassing loss for the Magic. He observed the starters on the bench joking around and taking the whole fourth quarter off. A smile slowly crept on his face. He turned to his colleagues and began joking around with them about the success this Bulls team is having as of late.

Almost immediately after the Bulls all but sealed the game about 4 minutes into the 4th quarter, Jerry Reinsdorf entered into Gar Foreman's box. Foreman's face immediately changed to one you would expect to see on the face of a multi-billion dollar CEO. Foreman and Reinsdorf never saw eye to eye no matter how well or poorly the team was playing. Reinsdorf was a perfectionist. He would push Foreman to go above and beyond even in times of near perfection. Foreman figured that there was no way this conversation could go south given the beating the Bulls are giving to the Magic.

"Looks like the team is doing well." Reinsdorf said in a monotonous voice. Foreman's expressionless face told exactly how this conversation would go. "Yeah, never seen the Magic get beat down like this before." Foreman said in a surprised voice. Reinsdorf's head nodded a few times before his eyes narrowed slightly watching the rest of the game unfold.

Foreman did not like the silence between them one bit so he tried to continue their "business" related conversation. "The team is coming together nicely now. Seems like they needed a few tough losses to get used to each other." Foreman said. Reinsdorf simply nodded his head. It was clear he had something on his mind but he was waiting for the right time to bring it up.

It's a pretty funny story how this relationship works between the two. They bicker and fight constantly while in their business suits but in their casual clothes they have become close friends. Reinsdorf would attend all of Foreman's close friends parties and vice versa. For now they were in business suits so it was almost a guarantee some unkind words would be spoken.

The clock went down to about 2 minutes left in the game and that is when Reinsdorf noticed some imperfection on his team. "I want you to start looking for some better role players. Korver is the only one scoring out there." Reinsdorf said in a similar manner a business man would tell his intern to get his coffee. "Pendergraph is putting up some points too!" Foreman said almost in a state of shock that Reinsdorf would bring this up. "Is it not enough that our team is going to win by 30 points? They all played amazing!" He said once more defending the team he had assembled.

Reinsdorf's head shook in disapproval from hearing his GM. "We need better role players to compete with the Lakers and the Celtics." He said in a manner once again that was final. Foreman shook his head trying not to disagree with the owner to avoid making a scene in front of his family and friends. "We will talk about this later." Foreman said as he stormed off to watch the remainder of the game. Reinsdorf walked back outside of his GM's press box and headed back to his own. It seems as if some future trades are on the horizon for some better offensive role players in the next couple weeks.

It would be nice to get some feed back on what you guys would think of more posts along the lines of this. I LOVE writing stuff like this so any feedback would be appreciated on this little segment. I was thinking of adding more flavor to this dynasty by adding in some kind of a story line.

Thanks. With my house rules being, I can only trade for those on the rumors list. It was hard to shake up my roster. The Heat refused to trade Ziggy no matter what I tried. He would have been a perfect fit for what I want off my bench too. We will see what else I can pull out.
