Celtics squash Hornets 96-66

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- For the fourth game in a row, the Charlotte Hornets fail to get a win as they get trounced on their home court by the Boston Celtics. Since trading away Kemba Walker and acquiring Rudy Gobert in a separate trade, many have expected the Hornets to finish with the worst record in the NBA. Tuesday night's performance just solidifies that thinking.

The Hornets starting backcourt was a combined 6 of 31 for 16 points. Jeremy Lamb had 10 points while Alec Burks had six. They weren't the only ones to struggle. The team made only 26 of their 84 attempts.

The bench players struggled on offense just like the starters did. They made only 9 of their 27 attempts.

Despite the team struggling as a whole, Gobert was able to shine when he had a chance. Gobert was four for four from the field, scoring eight points. He also had 13 rebounds and five blocks.

Jayson Tatum had another good night coming off the bench with 15 points and six rebounds.

The Celtics did struggle early in the game, but quickly turned it around. This was thanks in part to Al Horford's impact on the boards. Horford pulled in a game high 15 reounds and scored 10 points. Jayson Tatum also contributed to the win with 15 points off the bench.

Rookies Marc Thorpe and Sebastian Ewing of the Charlotte Hornets got some playing in the fourth quarter.

The Celtics have had an easy schedule to start the year. None of the teams they have faced so far made the playoffs last season. That will change with their next opponent, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Celtics dominate the fourth quarter en route to a 118-105 win over the Cavaliers

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- The game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics was close for most of the night. Neither team was able to gain a significant edge over the other until the third quarter. The Cavaliers led by as many as 11 before the Celtics came roaring back. Boston tied the game at 84 on a three point shot by Jayson Tatum that left 0.8 seconds on the clock. Tatum finished the game with nine points and four rebounds.

Boston would not have been in that position if it weren't for Kyrie Irving's spectacular second half performance. Irving scored 27 of his 39 points in the second half. He also had four rebounds and eight assists in the game. Most of Irving's points came from inside the paint as the veteran guard made one contested layup after another.

Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris led the offensive outburst in the fourth quarter. Both players scored 12 points.

Isaiah Thomas consistently got to the rim as well and drew a lot of fouls in the process. Thomas scored 35 points and made 10 of his 11 free throw attempts. Thomas' ability to draw fouls got the Celtics Dewayne Dedmon in foul trouble. Dedmon eventually fouled out in the fourth quarter with 7:47 left in the game.

Al Horford also had a big night for the Celtics, scoring 20 points and collecting eight rebounds. His scoring output was necessary as Gordon Hayward struggled mightily during the game. Hayward was two for 10 from the field and missed all five of his three point attempts.

Gordon Hayward missed most of his shot attempts in the game while LeBron James play as aggressively as he usually does.

LeBron James didn't play as poorly as Hawyward, but his impact on the game was minimal. James only had 10 points and eight rebounds in the game. The Cavaliers got better minutes out of Zach Randolph off the bench. Randolph had 13 points, making six of his seven shots. Randolph also collected seven rebounds.

Zach Randolph had a good game off the bench for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The veteran forward scored 13 points and seven rebounds.

The Celtics have passed their first big test of the season by beating a playoff-caliber team. Now the Celtics will seek to continue their winning streak in Philadelphia when they face the 76ers.

The Cavs don't have a good backup point guard so they've been playing Thomas for nearly the entire game. Might have to fix that by making a trade.
