It was the only National Team that I was going to accept for the first few seasons in this career mode. I just couldn't say no!

TOON TO THE TOP
SEASON 2
PS4

Match 20

Newcastle 2-0 Spurs
Barkley 6
Delph 40

A great win in this game, both goals set up by the incredibly Kevin Kampl. Barkley opened the scoring, stroking in first time on the volley from Kampl's low cross. Delph then made it 2, Kampl pulling it back, a great first touch brought it past the defender and he smashed it into the top corner for his first league goal of the season. Bony came close to finding the net, curling inches wide and forcing an incredibly save from Lloris.

Match 21

Arsenal 0-2 Newcastle
Dzsudzsak 66
Dzsudzsak 90

The match didn't start well for us, down to 10 men after 20 minutes when Bony was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Ramsey. 2 footed, studs up, feet of the ground, it was an awful challenge. Oliveira then came on for Barkley and 10 minutes later he was off for Riviere with an injury to his knee. We managed to keep Arsenal at bay however and Dzsudzsak opened the scoring, tapping in at the far post from Kampl's cross. He then got his second and wrapped it up in stoppage time with an excellent goal. A brilliant triangle passing move between Kampl, Clyne and Riviere ended with Riviere flicking the ball over the top. Balasz chested it down under pressure, took one touch and smashed it past the keeper.

FA Cup Round 3

Newcastle 4-1 Gillingham
Ferguson 7
McDonald 12
Riviere 27
Riviere 62
Riviere 71

Simmed.

League Cup Semi Final Leg 1

Newcastle 2-1 Stoke
Barkley 31
Arnautovic 45
Clichy 59

Barkley opened the scoring in this game, flicking past the defender before driving hard and low into the bottom corner. Arnautovic equalised after beating Clyne before smashing into the top corner. The match was won when Clichy beat his man, moved into the box and smashed into the top corner at the near post.

Match 22

Newcastle 3-0 Wigan
Medel 29
Medel 36
Bony 59

Medel opened the scoring in this game with a low, driving effort into the bottom corner. His second came in a similar fashion, however it struck the inside of the post on it's way in. Wigan rarely threatened and we put the game beyond reach when Bony headed in a good cross. Unfortunately, Medel tore his groin late on and will be out for 6 weeks.

Match 23

Hull 0-2 Newcastle
Bony 25
Clichy 65

Against a Hull side who had just lost their top scorer to Hertha BSC, they were unable to threaten and Bony gave us the lead, using his power to hold up the ball before smashing beyond Adler. Clichy made it 2, once again sprinting down the left before smashing in at the near post.

Star midfielder joins on a free

Valencia and Argentina international Enzo Perez has joined Newcastle United on a pre-contract agreement. The 29 year old midfielder was sold to Valencia last season for €25 million on a 2 year deal. Newcastle attempted to sign the player with immediate effect on a cut price deal due to Medel's injury. Valencia originally suggested £4.5 million would be enough but went back on their word, leading the Northern club to approach the player directly.

League Cup Semi Final Leg 2

Stoke 0-1 Newcastle (1-3 agg)
Barkley 64
Barkley got the only goal of the game to get us in our first cup final since I became manager. A simple but classy finish, the ball whipped in hard and low, a beautiful touch to bring it to a dead stop, a touch with the outside of his boot to beat the defender and then a thunderous striker into the top corner.

FA Cup Round 4

Newcastle 2-0 Yeovil
Bony 31
Dzsudzsak 46

Newcastle bag Number 1 target

Newcastle United managed to pick up West Ham United and New Zealand international Winston Reid for £5.5 million in the closing hours of deadline day. After days of negotiations, the clubs finally agreed on a fee and the defender was eager to sign his contract for £45,000 a week.

League Table

1. Newcastle 51
2. Chelsea 45
3. Spurs 44
4. Aston Villa 44
5. Arsenal 41
6. Manchester City 37
-----
18. QPR 20

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

@SHoward: Good to see you grab a couple wins. Looks to still be a struggle in the league though but I can tell you are picking it up. Keep it going man, cant wait to see how it turns out!

@Simppu: Wow, your team is amazing. It might just be the best collection of talent we've seen here. Really good results too, aside from that odd QPR game. This season should be interesting on how you will make use of all of these players and keep them happy.

@Cruzerr: That was a heck of a season, it was just a shame about the injuries throughout. It really is a unfortunate what happened and that you won't be able to carry this on. I voted a manager career btw, but I really enjoyed this player career so I'd be happy with any option!

@Chico: Good to see you up there in 2nd right now, but even better to see you advancing in the Copa Del Rey. I know that's where lower sides get all their money from in this game so I hope you can make a good run!

Side Note: I was staring at that Barcelona B game for a while trying to figure out how you held Barca to a 0-0 draw before I realized there was the "B" at the end haha.

@Keano: Good month and I'm really happy to see you getting into that top 5 spot! I hope you can earn either that spot when it's all said and done. Unfortunate that you couldn't get the full 3 points out of Leicester but I think you will be able to hold out.

@Jamie: You are playing really dominant right now winning every match in this update. Makes sense to see you on top of the table now creating some separation as well. Perez and Reid are great signings as well and should be able to fit really nicely into your squad. Keep it up man!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Glory Glory Man United

September 2017

Manchester United 1 - 0 Southampton
Benzema 39' pen

"We weren't but but we weren't good, either. I don't like how the only goal was a penalty but a win is a win. Southampton defended well and especially Nathaniel Clyne was very good. The most important thing is that we got the three points."

Manchester United 4 - 0 Ajax
Bale 18', 24', 81', Benzema 30'

"What a game! We dominated the whole game and created a lot of chances in front of our home fans. Gareth (Bale) was incredible and I'm glad that he has found his place in the team so quickly. Arjen (Robben) did well, too but he wasted too many chances."

West Ham 0 - 3 Manchester United
Robben 63', 70', Cook (youth player) 90'

Simulated.

Round of 32
Coventry City 0 - 1 Manchester United
Lacazette 60'

Simulated.

Everton FC 2 - 2 Manchester United
Barkley 62', 67'
Vidal 74', Bale 86'

"Disappointment. The boys looked distracted since the first minute and they played badly. The defending was terrible in Everton's goals and we need to improve. Arturo (Vidal) and Gareth (Bale) did a good job to equalise the game but a draw is not a good result."

Bröndby 0 - 7 Manchester United
Bale 23', 40', 53', Benzema 36', Rooney 48', Alaba 79', Vidal 87'

"I'm out of words. Simply everything went our way in this match and I still can't believe we netted seven past their keeper. Gareth (Bale) was once again the best player on the pitch and he was a real danger in attack. Wazza's goal was a wonderful strike from outside the box and it's good to see him on the score sheet after nine games. Sadly Arjen (Robben) got injured in the third minute and he will be out for three months. Luckily we have three good players who can replace him."

Bulgaria 2 - 3 Greece
Milanov 7', Popov 86'
Karelis 45', Mitroglou 64', Christodoulopoulos 89'

"It's not nice to lose a game in the last two minutes of the game but our defending was very bad. After all, the result doesn't matter because the Czechs and the Dutch drew which means that we are through to the world cup (or at least the play-off round, not sure how it works in FIFA)!"

Turkey 2 - 2 Bulgaria
Töre 37', Tosun 82'
Aleksandrov 69', Popov 90'

"Everyone in Bulgaria hates Turkey and we wanted to beat them in this pointless game. Sadly that didn't happen but a draw against a good Turkish side with players like Arda Turan and Hakan Calhanoglu is a good result. I still have no idea how we didn't get a penalty when our man was rugby-tackled in the box. The referee has to be blind."

Player of the Month

Gareth Bale

The summer signing Gareth Bale was the only attacker of Manchester United who reached his top level this month. He netted an incredible amount of seven goals in five games and he caused trouble to every defence he played against.

Hot or Not

Hot

Gareth Bale

He's the player of the month. Enough said.

David Alaba

David Alaba is another recent signing who has been incredible for Manchester United. The Austrian full back has been dictating the left side of the pitch. He has been everywhere on the flank without getting tired and he even got a goal in the Champions League.

Karim Benzema

Benzema didn't really have a great month but at least he managed to score a couple important goals. Sadly for the fans the Frenchman hasn't reach his form of last season yet.

Not

Arjen Robben

The first player of the list, and the third summer arrival, is the first 'Not' of the month. Arjen Robben scored a few goals in the month but he also missed many, many, many chances. He needs to improve and be more clinical.

Mats Hummels

The German centre back had a poor month at the back. He wasn't solid and he left his man unmarked often, for example twice against Everton. Hummels wasn't rock solid last season, as well.

World Cup Qualification Group

1. The Netherlands, 20 pts
2. Bulgaria, 17 pts
3. Wales, 14 pts
4. The Czech Republic, 13 pts
5. Turkey, 11 pts
6. Greece, 6 pts

Champions League Group

1. Manchester United, 6 pts
2. AC Milan, 4 pts
3. Bröndby IF, 1 pt
4. Ajax, 0 pts

League Table

1. Liverpool FC, 16 pts
2. Manchester United, 14 pts
3. Chelsea FC, 14 pts
4. Manchester City, 14 pts
5. Aston Villa, 14 pts
6. Arsenal FC, 13 pts
----------------------------------------------
18. Hull City, 4 pts
19. West Ham, 4 pts
20. Derby County, 2 pts

Starting XI

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Time for some comments.

@Chico: Things are going well during those 2 months. Both were unbeaten with only 2 draws! Very nice going in the Copa Del Rey! You're putting it up to those La Liga boys. You are sitting in 2nd which isn't a bad place to be (though 1st is better! ) Guillermo is doing really well, what a find! Keep it up!

@Tex: Conrats on winning the league! van Neiff has been really good, same as he was with Exeter! Ciftci was amazing up top and Tschauner was great between the sticks. How much did you get Ciftci for? And was Tschauner already with the club? I'm looking forward to seeing how your team does against Bayern, Dortmund etc.

@Simp: Very nice transfers! Bale was a very good swap for Di Maria and has done fantastically! Alaba was a great buy too and he has plenty of years left in him yet! Robben was a bit of a gamble with his age but you'll get another season or 2 out of him! Tell me has Malanda played much for you? If so how did he do? I'm looking at CDM's for the new season and he is a possibility. Well done on getting 2 pieces of silverware already! September was also a very good month club wise (Apart from that Everton draw!) Great win against Brondby! I can see it's tough with Bulgaria but at least you have qualified anyway!

@Cruzerr: A good ending to the season before you got another injury! Terrible luck man. A nice bit of drama at the end with the phone call too! It sucks the way the game keeps crashing on you and because of that you can't continue. I really enjoyed it and the way it was written. I (think!) voted for a manager career.

@Jamie: A very dominant month! All wins is very good! Your first final! Who is it against? Perez looks like a good signing! Reid will be solid for you too.

Thanks! I was surprised that Real Madrid accepted the swap because Bale was worth a couple million more but I'm glad things worked out like they did. The reason behind signing Robben is that I wanted another winger who is world class and then I thought about the World XI and Robben. He has been linked with Man United so I decided to check if he's still highly rated and he was. I know that I won't be staying with ManU for more than a season so I just bought him.

Malanda played in two or three games, I'm not sure. He did well but I'm afraid that he'll start suffering from the Rode syndrome (which means that a CDM will play in the beginning well and after that he'll become terrible and too attacking-minded) but if that happens he will be in the 'Not' section.

I really hope I have qualified with Bulgaria because I'm not sure if I could beat a good team in a playoff round. There aren't any international fixtures apart from friendlies in my calendar so I'm positive.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

FC St. Pauli
FIFA 15 - Season 2

Die Freibeuter der Liga

Summer Transfer Window

Transfers Out

Philipp Tschauner - €875K to Hannover 96
Ante Budimir - €1.4M to La Spezia
Michael Gorlitz - €325K to Crystal Palace
Philipp Heerwagen - €30K to Gil Vincente
Philipp Ziereis - €500K to Vancouver Whitecaps
Bentley Baxter Bahn - €180K to Vercelli
Marc Rzatkowski - Player exchange to RB Leipzig
Sebastian Maier - Loan to FC Augsburg
Maurice Litka - Loan to FC Thun

Pre-Contract Arrivals

Joshua Gatt - From Molde FK
Dustin Bomheuer - From Fortuna Dusseldorf
Michal Mak - From GKS Belchatow
Mateusz Mak - From GKS Belchatow

Transfers In

CDM, Rani Khedira - €400K + Marc Rzatkowski from RB Leipzig

Rani Khedira is a talented defensive midfielder who still has plenty of room to grow and expand his game. He isn't the strongest athletically, but his positioning is sound and makes up for it with his understanding of the game. While not as famous as his older brother, a chance in the Bundesliga could be his chance to prove himself.

GK, Patrick Rakovsky - €950K from 1. FC Nuremberg

Patrick Rakovsky looks to be the replacement for Philipp Tschauner and has even been handed the #1 shirt making his selection as first choice more likely. He spent last season in the second division where he caught the eyes of Tex Bumosix in matches against Nuremberg. It remains to be seen how he will fill in for Tschauner who led the second division in clean sheets last year.

RB, Leandro Bacuna - €750K from Aston Villa

Leandro has spent his past few years spread out between his parent club of Aston Villa, and out on loan to various clubs. He is a outside defender with a healthy combination of attacking instincts. Tex Bumosix likes his full backs to get involved in the attack, and Bacuna should fit nicely into the system.

ST, Rubio Rubin - €1.7M from FC Ultrecht

The young American striker has recently been getting looks from Klinsmann for the USMNT as he continues to make strides in his development. Perhaps the American connection is what caught the attention of Bumosix as he looks to bring the promising young attacker over to pair with Nothe and Çiftçi.

GK, Jindrich Stanek - €450K from Everton

The young Czech international is another option at keeper that Bumosix brought in after the vacancy was left by the sales of Tschauner and Heerwagen. He has a lot of development left until he can become a reliable first choice keeper, but he was one of the more promising prospects in Everton's system behind Tim Howard.

CM, Gianluca Gaudino - Loan from Bayern Munich

With several midfielders being sold, and Gedion Zelalem's contract talks falling through at the end of last season, Bumosix looked elsewhere to bring in another loan option for depth this year. Guadino is a Bayern youth product and a talented prospect on top of that. He still needs time to develop before he can contribute at Bayern, and this loan could be a great opportunity for him.
