Recap: Scary first half of this game starting with a very unfortunate own goal by Ramirez as he tried to stop a rocket shot before clearing it out but it instead bounced off his foot and into the back of the net. We were actually outplaying the visitors from the get go and this didn't change after the own goal but again they scored this time on their own account and 30 minutes end we were facing a hard deficit. But Farago's goal at the end of the first half gave us hope and we never gave up, and when Correa finally scored the equalizer with just under 20 minutes left new life came to us, then Imbula and Salawu finished off the comeback. A fair score as we outshot Real Sociedad 16-2, 12-2 on shots on goal.

Recap: And we finally beat Barca straight up. After multiple seasons of suffering losses to the Messi-led squad, only defeating them in cup competitions due to aggregate scores (away goals) or penalty kicks, we finally beat them in La Liga thanks to an impressive defensive performance in a game where we would had scored more if not for Courtois amazing performance (10 saves, 9.1 game rating, POTG). We outshot Barca 18-6, 14-2 on shots on goal, and this gives us some confidence going forward.

Recap: Oh look at this, matched up vs Barcelona in the Champions semis for the 2nd consecutive season (and for the 2nd consecutive season 3 Spanish teams - Real Madrid, Barca, and Alcorcon reach the Champions final 4 stage). When Pedro scored this feeling of "here we go again" started to kick in but the players got past that thanks to a great effort from Correa to equalize as soon as possible, then great hustle by Farago to turn around the scoreboard. Even then a 2-1 win at home didn't seem to have a lot of value considering our opponent, so when Knoll scored near the end the team celebrated with a lot of joy. Two consecutive victories against these guys, could we head back to the final?

Recap: Ladies and gentlemen this team is officially EN FUEGO. 4-0 victory against the league leaders who had beat us 3-1 in our matchup earlier this season? In our dreams, and this game was dreamy. Unfortunately missed points earlier in the season mean we're still behind Barca and Real in the league but these two wins against them keep us in the hunt for the league title.

Recap: And we have now officially eliminated Barca from Champions league in semi finals for the second consecutive season. It wasn't without drama of course as Gavazzi's goal early on put them really close to eliminating us instead (a 2-0 win would had been good enough for them), but we hung tough and didn't even let Barca get off another shot, then in the 56th minute Salawu UNLEASHED THIS



We move on to the final against: Liverpool, who defeated Real Madrid also by an aggregate score of 4-2. Looking back at the group stages of the tournament our group was probably the toughest one of them all as both teams who moved on are now in the final and the 3rd place team, Sporting from Portugal, is now in the Euro League final.

Recap: Mallorca is officially on our S-list after likely ruining any chance we had left to jump to 1st place, this after they eliminated us in the early rounds of Copa Del Rey. Mitroglou's shot was a perfectly crossing shot from right to left as he streamed into the box. We were never able to get a perfect shot like that. Just a big, crushing blow for us.

Recap: Guess it was downhill from that last game on. Our performance level has inexplicably dropped an Atletico really played just as good if not better than us. Not the way the fans expected us to perform in our last home game of the season. We've gone from league title contenders to hoping to finish no lower than 3rd so this last game is important. The league scoring title is also up for grabs with Baptistao, Suarez, and Lopez all tied at 18 goals.

Recap: Quite possibly the most deflating defeat of my career. Liverpool were the favorite based on both of their 3-1 wins against us in the group stage but we were fighting blow by blow in this one and Morientes (hands down the best young player of the year for us) put us ahead with a rocket from the right side of the box on a very small angle. But Ezekiel continued to be the thorn on our side that he had been in our earlier match ups, and after a series of well placed passes by Liverpool he found the ball in front of the defense just before halftime to equalize the score. The second half continued to be a heated battle, with chances for both teams, and when it seemed the game was going to extra time Liverpool hit a counterattack really well, Ezequiel leading the charge, and they once again made very crisp passes ending on Allen's goal just before the final whistle, giving the English team an ecstasy of joy while most of our guys fell down to the floor ultimately defeated.

It was the perfect ending to a very disappointing season, one that may just lead to some turmoil between the coach and executives of the team.

All disappointment aside we actually achieve our highest finish ever in La Liga. Sevilla swaps places with us from last year's standings while Atletico and Valencia (and Bilbao, actually) finish in the same spot they finished last season. Real Sociedad dropped down a spot while Deportivo jumped from 11th and Tex's former team may just be a contender for a top 6 finish next season. The only other significant note is that all 3 teams promoted from Liga Adelante last season remain in La Liga for one more season and Real Betis was a nice surprise finishing in 10th place. Celta finished 13th while Granada barely avoided relegation at 17th.

David Alaba David Alaba is another recent signing who has been incredible for Manchester United. The Austrian full back has been dictating the left side of the pitch. He has been everywhere on the flank without getting tired and he even got a goal in the Champions League. Karim Benzema Benzema didn't really have a great month but at least he managed to score a couple important goals. Sadly for the fans the Frenchman hasn't reach his form of last season yet. Not Arjen Robben The first player of the list, and the third summer arrival, is the first 'Not' of the month. Arjen Robben scored a few goals in the month but he also missed many, many, many chances. He needs to improve and be more clinical. Mats Hummels The German centre back had a poor month at the back. He wasn't solid and he left his man unmarked often, for example twice against Everton. We pushed forward looking for an equalizer and Bony hit the post with a header on 84 minutes. We came agonizingly close to getting a point but Arsenal seemed to want it more than we did and were the better team. Match 37 Swansea 0-1 Manchester City Kompany 41' Vidal 74' MotM: Joe Hart A counter attack was formed after Taylor won the ball back in our box and the ball found its way out to Sigurdsson who played a beautiful ball over the top to Berahino, he was kept onside by Clichy. Kompany had played for offside and so was a couple yards behind Berahino. Seeing no other way he slid in from behind taking Berahino out right on the edge of the box. He received a straight red for this dreadful tackle. We completely dominated the game but City scored the only goal through Vidal in the 74th minute. Negredo got past the defense and then back heeled it across to Vidal for him to tap into the net. Match 38 Swansea 8-0 Crystal Palace Gomis 7' Dyer 23' Dyer 45' Gomis 50' Gomis 53' Shelvey 77' Ings 84' Sigurdsson 90' MotM: Bafétimbi Gomis We needed to win here to have any chance of qualifying for the Europa League next season. Spurs would also have to lose or draw with Everton for us to go qualify. It got off to a great start as Gomis got on the score sheet just 7 minutes in. Berahino chipped a ball over the top for him and luckily the defenders clearance went up in the air and Gomis headed it powerfully in from the penalty spot. A second was added 20 minutes later when Berahino came short to receive the ball dragging Ramage out of position leaving space for Dyer to run into and get on the end of Berahino's pass and attack the goal. He then slipped it past Hennessey for the second. Dyer got himself a second right before halftime after Richards played a great ball over the top down the wing which Dyer controlled well. He skipped past Dann's challenge into the box and then Ledley's attempted sliding tackle in the box before smashing it into the net to make it 3-0. Showing bi signs of letting up when 5 minutes into the second half Gomis got goal number 4 after a pass from Ki. After hearing Spurs were 1-0 up against Everton we were determined to score as many as possible. Ki was played down the line and he cut inside to slide it across to Gomis for his hat trick just 3 minutes after getting his second. Shelvey got in on the act scoring the 6th after being played in by Ings. Montero played the ball to Ings and he turned onto his left getting himself a goal. We are trying to persuade him to stay in the Academy for as long as possible. Liam Dyer - RW - 64-68 Ovr - 80-86 Pot - 15 Liam has the potential to become very like Nathan Dyer in the future. He is extremely pacey and has a lot of room to grow as he is still on 15. A future star. Lyle Halstead - CB - 50-54 Ovr - 69-73 Pot - 16 Lyle has settled at CB his preferred position but the 16 year old may not be good enough in the future for us and will probably be sold on. Real Betis January Update Spoiler Let’s start off with the games Game 1 was a 1st leg R16 match in the Copa del Rey Real Betis vs Real Madrid 3-2 This was an amazing match for both squads. Neither team backed down and the scoring machine Danny Ings seals the game with a 90’ header from a corner. Game 2 was a not so brilliant draw at home against Rayo Vallecano. Nothing else happened after that and the game ended 1-1 Game 3 was the second leg of the R16 match of the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid. This game was a disaster for Betis as Real Madrid go on to with the game 7-0 Game 4 was a tooth and nail battle between Real Betis and Atletico Madrid. Both teams played very well with Atletico Madrid prevailing 2-1 Game 5 was a game against RC Deportivo in which we were favored to win. Well we were up 1-0 until the 80 minute mark where I shoot myself in the foot by conceding an own goal. Congrats on the league cup! What a crazy game! We seem to have a lot come down to penalties around here haha, which is awesome due to the drama. That was a great month though, other than that random match against West Brom, no clue what happened there lol.

Liverpool were the favorite based on both of their 3-1 wins against us in the group stage but we were fighting blow by blow in this one and Morientes (hands down the best young player of the year for us) put us ahead with a rocket from the right side of the box on a very small angle. But Ezekiel continued to be the thorn on our side that he had been in our earlier match ups, and after a series of well placed passes by Liverpool he found the ball in front of the defense just before halftime to equalize the score. The second half continued to be a heated battle, with chances for both teams, and when it seemed the game was going to extra time Liverpool hit a counterattack really well, Ezequiel leading the charge, and they once again made very crisp passes ending on Allen's goal just before the final whistle, giving the English team an ecstasy of joy while most of our guys fell down to the floor ultimately defeated. It was the perfect ending to a very disappointing season, one that may just lead to some turmoil between the coach and executives of the team. I just got so burned out from the game that I needed to take some time away from everything involving FIFA really. In the entire time I was gone I only played 1 game of FIFA and that as it. I went back and read the war haha, it made me sad that I missed it.
