Top form. Glad to see them rolling. 6th is a pretty good spot regardless what you finish this season. Players should be getting a nice boost.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Hello everyone,
Been reading this thread for a while now and decided to post about my own career mode. Sorry it's a bit long haha.

Season: 2013-14
Team: Reading
League: FL Championship
Difficulty: World Class
Sliders: Default
Half Length: 6 minutes

I picked Reading because of their budget and their already strong starting line-up and bench. I also wanted to make it as realistic as possible so I picked a team that didn't need too much change to fight for promotion so I could spend most of my money on a youth scout. So that's what I did, I bought a 4 star experience and 5 star judgement scout and sent him to England for 9 months. I also bought a scout a future star from the catalogue.

Transfers Out:
Jake Taylor - Season Loan
Pavel Pogrebnyak - £925k to Hull
Jimmy Kebe - £675k to Leeds (pre-management)

Transfers In:
Daniel Williams - £2.5m from Hoffenheim (pre-management)
Wayne Bridge - £250k from Manchester City (pre-management)
Tarik Camdal - £0 from Free Agents
Birol Parlak - £0 from Free Agents
Samed Yesil - Loan to Buy from Liverpool (best young player I've used)
Daniel Carrico - Recalled from loan

Youth Academy:
CB - 16, Potential 85-94 (Scout future star)
LB - 15, Potential 82-94
LB/LM - 15, Potential 80-94

First Team: (4-4-1-1)
GK - McCarthy 75
RB - Gunter 70
CB - Pearce (c) 73
CB - Carrico 75
LB - Bridge 70
RM - McCleary 71
CM - Guthrie 73
CM - Williams 73
LM - Drenthe 74
CF - Yesil 65
ST - Le Fondre 73

This is top 4 in the league after 16 games:
1. QPR - Points: 40, W: 13 D: 1 L: 2, Goal Difference: 20
2. Reading - Points: 36, W: 11 D: 3 L: 2, Goal Difference: 20
3. Leicester - Points: 34, W: 10 D: 4 L: 2, Goal Difference: 11
4. Bolton - Points: 33, W: 10 D: 3 L: 3, Goal Difference: 11

Top scorer is Yesil with 10 goals (what a beast!)
Top keeper is McCarthy with 10 clean sheets (also a beast)

We are also still fighting in both cups with the 5th round of the Capitol One Cup coming up against West Ham and the FA Cup yet to have started.

I am so pleased with our defense so far, 10 goals conceded in just 20 competitive games, and our goal scoring has become superb, with 35 goals scored in all competitions (Yesil with 11 of them).

Thank you for taking your time to read my progress, hopefully you found it interesting.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

CSKA Moskva is in first place! After racking up back to back wins after two straight draws, we take the lead in the Russian League with 26 points, with second and third also having twenty six points.

Even though I bought Thierry Henry, I decided to name Ahmad Musa my starter over him, because he's on a hot streak even though he's rated two points lower then Henry. I'm thinking of going after Ronaldihno, just for fun to have another legend on our team.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Hello Everyone!

Well, after weeks and weeks of following this thread and running my own CM, I have decided to join in the fun and provide updates as to my progress throughout (hopefully) many seasons! As it stands, I am about 9 games into my second season.

As far as backstory goes, I have had limited experiences with FIFA games in the past. However, when I was able to play them, I found that I was relatively good at the game. Playing soccer when I was younger surely gives me a better understanding of the game than those who simply pick up the game and go.

As far as team selection, my only concern was that the career be an immense challenge. As I perused the various leagues, England jumped out at me for obvious reasons. In theory, with four divisions present, the English League would give me an opportunity at something original on a pretty regular basis, provided that my play was good enough to advance through the ranks.

As I searched through League Two teams, Morecambe appeared to be my best option. Between their lowly rankings and virtually non-existent budget, I thought I had a winner. However, after playing two friendlies, it was apparent that we were not a match made in heaven. So, I went back to the drawing board. This time, I looked for a slightly higher budget while still aiming to select a 1 star team. After my second search, I settled on Newport County with a personal guarantee that I wouldn't be making any more changes.

Due to virtually no experience with the transfer system in FIFA, as I began my career I felt lost. Between the cumbersome GTN and my ability to only buy 1* scouts, I realized that I was in for an uphill climb. Luckily enough, that's precisely what I was looking for.

Because of my transfer "virginity", I ended up only making two moves in the summer transfer window. One was loaning out young striker Conor Washington to Morecambe with no future fee added. My main reasoning behind this was that I had what I thought to be a surplus at the striker position with young men named Jolly, Zebroski, and Wilmott. Washington was also the youngest and lowest rated of the strikers so I figured I didn't have much to lose. The second move I made was bringing in a CM named Richie Towell. Looking back, I'm not sure that this was a necessary move but it is one that has paid off two-fold with Towell being an essential cog in my lineup over both seasons so far.

As of opening day in my first season, my lineup (4-4-2) was as follows:

RB David Pipe CB Ismail Yakubu & Tom Naylor LB Andy Sandell

RM Richie Towell CM Michael Flynn & Adam Chapman LM Ryan Burge

ST Chris Zebroski & Christian Jolley

So, this takes us to the start of my inaugural season in League Two. My next update will guide us on a journey to the January transfer window.

Thanks for reading!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

year 2 with Hamburg. simulated the first season, finished 4th. qualified for champion's league group stages where i lost 1-0 at feyenoord and won 3-1 at home to CSKA. Real madrid is next.
in 4th in the bundesliga behind Dortmund, Wolfsburg and Leverkusen who has played one more game. Bayern started slowly but is in 6th.

Adler
Diekmeier Westermann Dragovic Schultz

Marc Bartra Badelj

Beister Van der Vaart Aogo

Lasogga

is my first choice 11. Rudnevs had a big season last season, but Lasogga has outplayed him this season. Rincon is a great backup. Jansen. Zhi Gin Lam doesn't have a very high rating but can play anywhere.

League Double

Team: Orlando City (3 Star)

Orlando City Wrap Up League Double In First MLS Season
Orlando City finished the Clausura 17 game round robin season with a 2-1 loss in Vancouver, a game which saw none of the usual starting 11 even make the long road trip with the 1st place already being wrapped up.

We finished with 39 points in 17 matches, with 31 goals, 15 against us. We beat the 2nd place LA Galaxy by 3 points, who had the highest goal scoring offense in the 17 game season with 35 goals. LA earned a Champions League spot with the highest point finish besides Orlando City who already locked up a bid earlier this year by beating Galaxy in the Apertura finals 3-0.

The Clausura Playoffs Begin, Final Champions League Spot
#1 Orlando City @ #8 Real Salt Lake
#8 Real Salt Lake @ #1 Orlando City

#2 LA Galaxy @ #7 Columbus Crew
#7 Columbus Crew @ #2 LA Galaxy

#3 NY Red Bulls @ #6 Houston Dynamo
#6 Houston Dynamo @ #3 NY Red Bulls

#4 Toronto FC @ #5 DC United
#5 DC United @ #4 Toronto FC

All Higher Ranked Teams Will Receive Automatic Tie Breaker, Except In Final, Which Can Go To ET & PKs.

The DC & Toronto match up looks great.

We will face off in the first round again with Real Salt Lake, our bitter Rival. This will be the 5 time playing them this year.

Transfer Plans & Side Notes
The transfer window will be back open in about 6 weeks and I have no plans to add any pieces, I just want to make sure I have enough money to take care of my players and keep them happy as we go into next season and try and win the Champions League in South America.

Adryan the 18 year old CF has 25 goals & 13 assist in 37 matches, has hands down been the MLS MVP, and our best player. Remarkable season so far, could still play up to 6 more matches this season.

Chile Qualifies For WC, England & Scotland Up Next In Friendly Play
As Manager of the Chilean national team we ended WC qualifying by backing into the world cup, in my 4 matches as manager we didn't manage one victory, while drawing 3 and losing 1.

We play England & Scotland this week in friendlies.... I while try to right the ship and get us back on track before the World Cup
