The only way to make listening to Pierre Mcguire fun is this http://www.hockeyfights.com/forums/f...g-game-135224/

As for announcers I would love to see Doc and Eddy. At least Doc with someone else. Maybe Darren Pang ala the former NHL faceoff series made by Playstation. Doc just has so much passion for the sport and leaves me excited throughout the game. Is he a little over exaggerated sometimes, of course but he's still one of the best out there for any sport. He would really liven up the game if he got excited in the correct spots. With Thorne he often times gets excited at the wrong times and is late to the party on some of the calls in NHL. Still love the guy in real life though. Him and Clement will forever be my favorite tandem. Just brings me back to my childhood when the NHL was on ESPN.

I love Doc. I personally think he's the best announcer for any sport.

Sure he gets over-excited at times, but that's why I like him. He is BY FAR the best announcer when it comes to keeping my attention on the game. I feel like I can't look away when he's calling a game because his voice and inflection makes it seem like something awesome is always about to happen.

He does a great job with the little things like telling you where a player is from or where his 'hockey roots' are: "And it's over to Kessel, the forward from the University of Minnesota"

And when the crowd is chanting: "The chant is: 'Beat L.A.' "

Stuff like that really keeps me as a viewer feel like I'm more involved with the game and the players in it.

Gotta agree Bwiggy, I really like the team of Doc and Eddy too.

The passion that Doc brings to the games he calls, makes me enjoy the games even more. Hopefully at some point Doc gets into the NHL game.

This is extremely basic commentary but to me Doc and Pang sound good besides the fact they are very limited in what they are able to say. It would just be fresh. I think Doc is incredibly descriptive and uses adjectives to just make the game exciting even when there isn't intense action. He's just got the voice to make you pay attention. With what they can do commentary wise today I just think him and Eddy or Pang would be awesome to listen to. Just my thoughts.

I agree the key word is fresh something new there is no doubt that Gary and Bill have had the best commentary in sports video games to date with NBA2k12 running a close second. We just want something new even if there is more dialog added it will still seem the same. Those two don't even do hockey anymore well maybe Bill but not Gary. Maybe next year

Bill most certainly still does color work. He graces CSN Philly with his awesome presence during road stretches and key games, particularly when Keith "Fred Flintstone Head" Jones isn't around. He also always does all the first round playoff games that are simulcast on CSN.

Now that I think about it, I could tolerate Doc and Eddy, but like I stated before I would prefer them to be reserved for bigger games/series to help give them a really different auditory atmosphere (which I know is slightly impractical given the sheer volume of space needed for commentary, although FIFA somehow manages to have multiple commentary teams doesn't it? So who knows?) It's just that goddamn Pierre McGuire. Once I see his face or hear his voice I just become a Ticked Off Ted and EVERYONE associated with him during the game in question (usually Doc and Eddy) gets caught in the crossfire. Just like the Happy Gilmore / Bob Barker incident...

"[through gritted teeth]...I hate that Bob Barker."

Audio is one of the most time consuming and space consuming things there is. and really all it is is an after thought, I would rather them focus on the skating engine and things that actually effect gameplay. The audio is serviceable, it doent need to be any more than that. especially when gameplay elements need to be fixed.
