Note that these are approximate times, so it may vary by a few seconds.

In NHL 15:

7 minutes periods lasted 5:05
8 minutes lasted 5:50
10 minutes lasted 7:15

So, 1:00 lasted approximately 0:45.

In NHL 16:

5 minutes periods last 5:25
6 minutes lasts 6:30
7 minutes lasts 7:35

So, 1:00 lasts approximately 1:05.

After seing the results (and since I was familiar to 8 minutes periods in NHL 15), I think that I may lower my period length to 6 minutes instead of 7 in NHL 16.

That is really odd. I don't know why 20 would not =20 or 10=10 ect. I have never heard this before. Why would they do that? So if that is true then if you played 20 you would really be playing 21 minutes.

Re: AlTito's NHL 16 Sliders

Usually I'm mostly positive in my comments about NHL games, but tonight will be a bit different...

In fact, I have to say that I find (like some other people) that this game was way better before the tuner updates, especially the last two. They made the game worst, at least for me. Sadly, this game is playing just like NHL 15 now. Before that, I found that NHL 16 provided a lot of subtle improvements to gameplay that are simply gone now.

To let you know, tuners are saved in the user profile along with rosters, settings, sliders and other things (at least on Xbox One). Since I already worked a lot on rosters and editing players, I didn't want to loose all of it. So, what I did was to create a new user profile. Then, I would not have any tuners downloaded anymore.

So, I made the test with my new profile. I had to re-enter all my settings and stuff, but I didn't go online to download tuners. I have to say that the two games I played without any tuner were night and day compared to the games I played in the last couple of weeks. All the subtle improvements that I found when I first played NHL 16 were back. Slower gameplay, little bumps making the puck loose, better stick colision detection, bumbling passes, better pass interceptions and deflections, etc. In short, looser puck in general and a better defensive game.

I don't understand why EA is overwriting tuners over 1.00 and not simply creating new ones when they have the option to do it? Let the offline gamers choose the tuner they want to play with. The option is there, so please use it. It's a nonsense to me, but it's too late now anyway, so we can't change that.

I have to say that I'm in a big dilemma right now, because I like the gameplay way better without the tuners and I don't play online very often, so I don't really need them. On the other hand, I don't want to loose all the work I've done editing and adjusting rosters. I just wish that there was another way to delete tuners.

The sad part is that the game was great to me out of the box, but it's unfortunately not so great anymore.

Hey Al, have you tried increasing puck control to 5 or 6? As someone has brought up in another post it really is backwards this year. I didn't believe it either until I tested it and it makes a huge difference. Give it a try at 5 or 6 for a game or 2 and you'll see.

I think I might delete everything from my xb1 and do the same Al.. I never play online and those tuners did something to the original game.

Re: AlTito's NHL 16 Sliders

While I think the game generally plays fine (not super hardcore or anything) and I've loved our sliders so far...I'm having a devil of a time scoring. The CPU seems to pass a ton in my zone and I'm lucky to get a pass and a shot, can't cycle for anything and most of my games are 1-0, 1-2, 2-0 (usually in OT, even with Auto Aim on). Any suggestions?

Hey! I have to tell you that I tried everything: puck control at 0, at default 2, at 5, at 6. And to be honest, I'm not sold at all to the reversed puck control theory. While it's different, I see some good and bad things with every setting (on pickups, interceptions, hits, deflections). The description of the slider is the same as every year (and it doesn't say which way does what) and like every year, the puck control slider debate is there. To me, the game is simply different in a bad way since the tuner updates and sliders can help improving it, but not totally either. I'm really thinking about deleting everything right now because I really loved how the game played out of the box.
