This dev team's response every year is "more gameplay modes," and it's pathetic. 20 different gimmick modes, sweet. I'm skeptical by default of their ability to implement any substantial gameplay changes, and considering all they gave us in that arena is "real player movement" (which I'll believe is no real change until I see it in action), it doesn't look like they're all that interested in people who play the game to play hockey. Their TOP feature they're promoting is a wardrobe change for player models playing pond hockey. Pathetic.

Also the "Chel" stuff is cringe-worthy.

I'm holding out some hope for some more emotion in the game when it comes to goals and everything, but nothing this development team has ever done has me convinced I should expect anything substantial.

If they take out the "play as expansion team" in franchise mode, they should seriously be blasted. That's the best feature they've offered in a while.

They've given a direction, and they go in that direction. EA likely said "We need more focus on the online side, HUT modes are big in sports games now" and that's what the team gets focused on.
Very true.
All one has to do is visit the FIFA and Madden boards to see the same complaints; Poor AI, no player separation, little gameplay improvements, too much emphasis on online and micro transaction modes.

It's the way everything is going.

Just looking at the feature list, so much of it is targeting gamers between 10>18 in age.
CHEL? Beauty? These are modes targeting the Spicoli's of the hockey world.

They are trying for the second consecutive year to bring in more casual players and people to play online with these gimmick online modes or NHL 3s Arcade stuff that have been done with NHL Hitz and other games in the past.

I have to give DJNEO props for the second consecutive year once the features were revealed. They are taking this game in the wrong direction if you are a sim player or someone like myself that only plays offline modes.

I touched NHL 3s I think twice.

I like the real player motion from the 2 second clip of Crosby that was shown and Patrick Kane...other than that, I mean I can't believe this is it. Seems like Live and NHL series are tied to the hip. No Frostbite, just the real player motion.

Let's hope there is more, but I think we all know for the most part, this is it. Goalie animations looked exactly the same from the trailer(Yes I know it's a trailer, still tho) and probably still get beat with the same goals over and over...ugh

I also detest the 'Chel slogan.
Well, the funny thing is I was actually making jokes before I left the Gamechangers about how it might end when they trying to make the game more "exciting" by shorter periods and just 3 players (3s). I was asking what will be next, just one player (1s) and one minute? Didn't know they'll take it seriously as my last input to the group Lol

Seriously tho, I was asking myself several times whether this was right decision or not. Ot was really cool for me to have the inside informations about the game I played whole life. But seeing once again how far away they are taking this series from what I would actually love to do... it would just don't make any sense for me... or us.
It would make sense for them from a business standpoint, but that's a different thing.

The skating looks promising tho. Might be a great or bad thing, depends on the tunning.

Hopefully this game will bring the community together with a share option for created rosters, players, goalie masks and really take advantage of the customization aspect of NHL19. That truly would be epic.

which is why I think I'll pass on 19 and just stick with 18. I have more fun creating fantasy drafts in Franchise mode and creating a whole new NHL world. Jack up the trade meter so teams are constantly making deals. It won't matter since it's all new anyways.

19 is going to be a disappointment - it's catering to the wrong base, but that's how I see it.

Re: NHL 19 Features Real Player Motion, Outdoor Rinks, Legends & New Modes

NHL 19 Real Player Motion sounds a lot like NHL 08-10 player control and movement when the skating engine was quick and responsive. EA's been using the same core game engine for the past 10 years, so why not do a full circle and bring back what they had 10 years ago? If NHL 19 is quick and responsive as touted to be, with big hits back in the game, aka NHL 08-10, then the game might actually be fun again. Wouldn't that be a nice surprise, along with a tweaked ai that actually play somewhat intelligently.

I totally agree though that this game should retail for no more than $29.99 at release. NBA Live did it last year and I think it's time for NHL to do the same. Once they give us a brand new game, completely overhauled, then they can charge us full price.

I don’t think there is going to be a create it share anything. Its looking more like that jersey and mask was something you unlock. Sounds like there will be default you can choose from but then unlock random stuff by playing 1s. I’m almost certain I can guarantee you won’t be able to implement those masks or gear on to your offline NHL franchise or season. Almost everything this dev team does is only half way

Re: NHL 19 Features Real Player Motion, Outdoor Rinks, Legends & New Modes

Everything about this series always feels incomplete. Like it could have been great but they just didn’t finish it....like a kid building a science project. When I was a kid I was making a volcano for my science fair. I worked really hard on the landscape and added a lot of details with roads, cars, houses, and people. I thought it would be so cool watching the lava engulf my detailed village. By the time it came to make the volcano itself, the core of the project, I became bored as kids do and my effort was minimal resulting in a less than impressive volcano. Needles to say I had a poor volcano rising above a very detailed village that didn’t work right and I received a poor grade. This series is my volcano......
