Re: NHL 21 Franchise Mode Stories

20/21 Season Game 5 Calgary Flames @ Colorado Avalanche
The Avs returned home to face the Flames before heading out to the East Coast for a long road trip. Colorado handed backup goaltender Pavel Francouz his first start of the season, and it was a rough start for him. Calgary scored with their first 2 shots on net to put Colorado in an early hole. The Avalanche peppered Flames backup Domingue all night long, and pulled a goal back when Donskoi finished another nice passing play by the 4th line. Calgary quickly restored their 2 goal lead courtesy of Johnny Gaudreau. Colorado got back to within a goal in the second with role players again stepping up, this time the Frenchman Bellemare finding the back of the net. Calgary went up by 2 again with less than 5 minutes to go in the middle frame thanks to Johnny Gaudreau. Colorado fought back to tie the game in the third, with goals from Kadri and MacKinnon. Calgary ended up winning the frantic, high scoring contest on a Sean Monahan breakaway in OT.

20/21 Season Game 7 Colorado Avalanche @ New Jersey Devils

The Avs travelled to New Jersey for their 2nd game in a lengthy Eastern road swing. Fresh off another early season shutout, Philipp Grubauer looked to continue his hot start. New Jersey's high pressure defensive style dictated the 1st period and resulted in a 1-0 Devils lead thanks to a Damon Severson goal. The 2nd period is where things went downhill for Colorado. The Avs were controlling most of the shot attempts in the game but were unable to solve Corey Crawford as New Jersey added two more goals to put the Avs down 3-0. The Avs finally put one past Crawford when Kadri scored his team leading 5th goal of the season off of a Brandon Saad pass to the front of the net. Entering the final frame down by 2 and needing a big period, the Avs folded instead and allowed 2 more New Jersey tallies resulting in Grubauer being replaced by Francouz. Both goals came from former 1st overall pick Nico Hischier. The Avs made the score slightly more respectable when Andre Burakovsky was credited for Subban inexplicably putting the puck past his own netminder.

Re: NHL 21 Franchise Mode Stories

Year 1 with KC we finished 44-28-9 and made the playoffs. Unfortunately we got bounced in the first round in 6 vs Colorado. Toronto ended up winning the Cup.

We made some off season trades, mainly to free up some salary cap. We did sign Brandon Saad to our team and Pekka Rinne. Saros is an RFA and has not signed with anyone, no one is wanting to trade for his rights. The team is going to be turned over to Thatcher Demko in net. Rinne brought in for veteran leadership and more of a back up role, however it will not be a traditional start 1 or 2 games a week thing, will be close to a 50/50 split but will rely more on Demko.

Did you keep your interim HC or hire someone else? Sounds like the interim guy earned the right to stay around. The coaching/chemistry system is a great idea on paper but still needs some polish on the execution front.

The interim label was removed and he is the new head coach. The team just fits his system so well. However my off season moves have led to some decreased chemistry in my lines.
