Why is ultimate team so unbalanced?

It's terrible because I refuse to play with the roster fighters and I only STILL have one HW and two LW CAFs I have to alternate between. It's so annoying that you not only have to hope and wish for CAF cards but also hope they have the fighting style you want to work with. It's really off-putting.

I know hating on UT is the trendy thing to do these days but they got a lot right. Can't delete your fighter to only face noobs, not everyone you face is a max height tattooed monstrosity, can search 4 weight classes at a time, all moves can be applied to all fighters, the addition of solo challanges, increased coins for single player, reward sets

Need to think long term. We're all of a month into a game we'll likely still be playing 2 years from now. As better moves and fighters drop there will be less discrepancy in the stats.

I agree with your first paragraph and I think that everyone else also agrees with most of the things that you mentioned. No one is complaining about the good things that have improved since the first title.

To your second comment, things will not improve as you suggest. I think you are completely missing the point that is being made here. When a new fighter "drops" in UT, they are NOT actually a fighter. They are literally one of the fight styles with a cosmetic skin that just makes them look like a real UFC fighter.

So when you say that things will improve as "better" fighters drop, this isn't the case. There are no "better" fighters. The only "better" fighter would be a Gold level fighter vs a Silver level fighter. When we mention stat discrepancies we aren't talking about fighting against a gold fighter with a silver fighter. We are talking about the core design of how they balanced the 5 fight styles.

I think this is what bugs me the most. If you're going to put real fighters in, they should fight like those fighters.

As Dina also said, no one is faulting EA for those postive changes you've mentioned, however they are outweighed by the HUGE negatives.

The long term still looks grim, a pool of 4* Amanda Nunes and 5* McGregors awaits when the UT playerbase secure the champions for the most repetitive UT gameplay ever (like the LEC in UFC 2). Sure they could add more 4/5* fighters, but what about CaFs?

A game mode that allowed players to have a UNIQUE team of fighters has turned into quite literaly a watered down version of ranked with lootboxes.

I think a quick fix to the imbalance would be to release some moves with stats that actually compliment each other. Why on earth are there moves that improve your takedown but at the same time lower your top game, or vise versa. I would love if they opened up a few more move slots and released a slew of moves with new stats associated with them. I think this could easily be patched in.
