It happens quite a bit in other games.

I also agree with showing only the fighter's level. I think counter-picking among high tier fighters isn't much of a thing in UFC, but it is still a bit of a thing, maybe in some weight classes. So, showing only the fighter level would be ideal, imo; even though that would be less good (than regular DC) at avoiding mirror matches (which is a smaller problem).

Re: Let us see who our opponent is picking

One more idea for ranked

What if we could choose to connect with only certain letter grade fighters?

For instance only A and S tiers(please add S tier for truly OP guys)

Or A-B, or B and C tier

This would allow people to go into ranked and use favorite fighters without running into S tier dudes.

If you’re confident enough(and want a big bonus) you could still match up with people the standard way as well.

Most games like mk11 have blind picks to avoid counter picks. Horrible idea.

Blind pick is ideal in an arcade game, where all fighters are supposed to be on the same level. It seems the new trend is to select the fighter even before you start the search, to speed things up. In SC6 you can select a fighter and search while you play offline. It's awesome.

With a multi-level roster, that's another story, though.

I'm no expert, but I think this would increase the waiting times a lot. It would also allow people to duck some players and therefore make the leader-boards much less meaningful.

Fair points

What about 2 different leaderboards? Pokemon has had a huge competitive following since forever and they use tiers to separate leaderboards.

So you could have a standard ranked experience and maybe a B and under one.

That also might increase the online playerbase since I think a lot more people would be interested in playing online for B and under. It would also drastically increase the viability of a lot of fighters.

I honestly expect the playerbase to grow with ESPN covering MMA now. As long as the game is released with a lot of positive coverage it has a ton of potential since MMA is becoming mainstream.

That would still split the player base big time, not just once, but once per weight class.
