no i mean a fighting game tournament where you’re playing each other in person.

obviously they can both see what character the other is using. yet no one has ever complained about that taking ‘strategy and competition’ out the game

Counter-picking is definitely a thing in traditional fighting games but it mostly occurs after a match. It's also worth noting that learning a new character (especially at the highest level) takes hours of work whereas UFC characters are relatively similar.

Anyway I'm against the whole idea because I don't wanna wait around to face GSP anyway and this only seems to benefit people who enjoy using inferior characters (and like somebody mentioned, traditional fighting games try to make characters as balanced as possible).

I guess the best case scenario is that you could set a filter that makes it so you can only pick low tier fighters and deal with the long queues. Even then this would be problematic as characters like Costa/Almeida/Sonnen are clearly superior to other low tier fighters.

Theres an option for it. At least in mk11 and db fighterz there is. If you push y theres an option to hide the cursor. Nice try at attempting to make me look stupid. Your bias against me is truely amazing
