Bye Week Cures All Woes
Tigers Dominate Huskers

After another disappointing first half failed the Missouri cause against Pittsburgh, the Tigers took a 2-2 record into their bye week. Preparations began in earnest for their Big 12 opener against rival Nebraska in the Battle for the Missouri-Nebraska Bell.

Missouri seemed to come out fired up, scoring on their third play from scrimmage as Blaine Gabbert hit Danario Alexander for a 53 yard touchdown just 48 seconds into the game.

After a short possession by Nebraska, which ended on a failed fake punt attempt at midfield, Missouri would strike again in three plays as Devion Moore took it in from 43 yards on a great piece of individual effort.

To add injury to the early first quarter deficit starting tailback Roy Helu ruptured a disk in his lower back and will miss the rest of the season.

Nebraska would score 10 straight to close within 4 late in the half, but Gabbert and Jared Perry would hook up from 12 yards out with 37 seconds remaining to take the 21-10 lead into the half, their first halftime lead of the season, and by far their best played opening half.

Mizzou would pick up where they left off, taking their first possession of the second half down the field quickly and methodically as Devion Moore punched it in from a yard out to extend the lead to 18.

The Tigers would continue to pile it on in the fourth, as Devion Moore would get his third touchdown of the game, this time from 7 yards out. Nebraska never really threatened after their field goal cut the lead to 14-10 in the second.

This was the second straight season in which Missouri absolutely blew out Nebraska. Last season Missouri put up 52 on the road in Lincoln, winning easily 52-23. This time the offense and defense both got it done.

Devion Moore got it done for the Tigers.

Tigers Stun #5 Cowboys
Do it the Old Fashioned Way

Coming off a big victory off of #19 ranked Nebraska, and more importantly a victory over a Big 12 North opponent, Missouri took to the road to take on Oklahoma State, and their dynamic offensive attack. After finally putting a full game together the Tigers looked to continue their hot streak against a tough Oklahoma State team.

Coming in as a 17 point underdog did not help Missouri much, but coach Gary Pinkel said "It allows us to just kind of go in there and do our thing. No one is really giving us a shot in either of the next two games, but we're just going to play our game and let it speak for itself."

Missouri came out practicing what its coach preached, holding Oklahoma State to two straight three and outs before scoring on their own second possession. Blaine Gabbert lobbed one over the defense to Wes Kemp in the end zone, and the sophomore brought in the difficult catch with a man draped on his back.

Mizzou would extend their lead on the next offensive play as Luke Lambert jumped a Zac Robinson pass and returned it all the way to the barn for the score.

The Tigers would keep it going, scoring their third straight touchdown courtesy of a Blaine Gabbert 6 yard run, capping a 73 yard, 13 play drive. And that would be the score going into the half, 21-0, with the upset alert out and blaring.

Oklahoma State would finally show some signs of life late in the third quarter, as Zac Robinson led a 82 yard scoring drive to pull within two touchdowns. It wouldn't be enough, as Missouri would add a late field goal to put away a second straight upset of a Big 12 team.

Kemp hauled in a big TD, but the Missouri defense
stole the show.

Longhorns Send Tigers Back to Earth
Dominate the whole way

Coming off their biggest win of the season, many people expected a let down against a riled up Texas team who had lost to Oklahoma the week prior, and they would be right.

Texas put the pressure on Blaine Gabbert all afternoon, forcing three interceptions, and holding the Missouri offense to just 270 yards. The Missouri defense tried to hold up under the pressure of constantly being put on short fields, but were unable to hold the game close.

Gabbert completed just 16 of 52 passing attempts, a testament to the Texas defense, who constantly harassed the young signal caller. 8 of his completions went to one man, Jared Perry, who also collected 99 yards and a touchdown, his best game of the year, but it was not nearly enough for Missouri, who found themselves ranked for the first time all season after their dominating performance against Oklahoma State.
