Wow tough loss man, 2-1 is still a good start. Good luck this season

I haven't been beaten like that in quite some time and it definitely brought my Wildcats back to earth. I got the ball first to start the game, moved the ball down to their 35 and had a 4th and 2. Did not convert. Florida then went on and scored a touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff, my returner fumbled it and that led to another Gator TD just a couple plays later. From that point on, I was shook and got away from my run game.

It's going to be a challenge at Kentucky, but this is what I signed up for.

Ouch. And to top it all off, when you finally do score against their scrubs after being down 52-0, you miss the extra point.

Re: SEC Surprise: Kentucky Wildcats (NCAA 2011)

Wildcats Putting Gators In The Past

After losing in embarrassing fashion, the coaching staff has continuously told the players to forget about the Florida game. It doesn't matter if you're playing Florida or an FCS team, if you have six turnovers, there's not much chance for you to win the game. There isn't much good to talk about after that one.

With that said, there have been rumblings in Bluegrass Nation that the fans want to see sophomore quarterback Morgan Newton as the signal caller. He's a dual-threat with his arm and legs and would add another dynamic to the already anemic offense. Coach Phillips has been quoted saying:

"Mike [Hartline] is a senior and we're going to give him every chance to lead this team. We will continue to get Morgan [Newton] some snaps in game to keep the defenses honest. If we think that the latter gives us a better chance to win, that switch will be made. We're not committed to Mike because he's a senior but because, in our opinion, has given us the best chance to win so far."

This will be a situation to keep an eye on.

Kentucky Lands First Commit

Last week we discussed a couple options at quarterback that Kentucky was targeting. Well Tramon Handy is still atop the recruiting list for the Wildcats, but another signal caller has faxed in his signed Letter of Intent. Geoff Duncan, a home-grown kid from Lexington-Fayette, KY, didn't need much convincing from Joker Phillips to decide to stay home. After one phone call and a scholarship offer, it was official.

Duncan is a pocket passer with the size to see the entire field. At 6'5", 240 pounds, he's not going to be leaving the pocket too often. He doesn't have a cannon for an arm, but it's strong enough. His throw accuracy is on par with his strength, but that is something the coaching staff will look to work on as they are trying to convince Geoff to enroll in the spring semester.

It remains to be seen if Duncan will be the only quarterback signed in this recruiting class. If Handy decides to join the Wildcats, it will be interesting to see who becomes the quarterback of the future.

Nice job so far on the dynasty. That Florida loss is just a road bump. I'm sure your next game will go a lot better. Can't get worse right?
