CAROLINAS INCOMING CLASS of 2012

Photobucket

CHAPLE HILL, NC:The North Carolina announced today that the following recurits have commited to the Tarheels. This will give the Tarheels an overall class rankings of 33rd in the nation. We felt we could have done better as we lost a couple players to some out of conference schools. However, this does gives us some good players in the future, and fills some much needed depth.

Re: Building of a Dynasty --North Carolina Tarheels

END OF SEASON STATS (2011)

PASSING
NAME...... ATT/COMP..... COMP%.... YDS ...TD/INT ...SACK ...RATING

David Britton....387/217.......56.1%......2466....16/13.......26..........116.5
Allen Montoya...17/11..........64.7%.......178......2/1.........1...........179.7

Overall I am pleased with our QB play as the season got underway. Most of the turnovers came in our loses to Miami, and VT. We will be sad to see Sr QB Britton leave, as we are not sure with the play of SO Allen Montoya..but he will be given a chance. What concerns me are the number of sacks we gave up over the year, as we will have to improve in this area.

RUSHING:

NAME........................****SH/YDS/TD

Wesley Bostic............221/765 yds/3 TD
Darren Torres..............96/386 yds/1 TD
Michael Smith..............39/190 yds/1 TD

We were not impressed with any of our run game. During the whole season, we only had maybe two 100 yrd games by a single back. Again, this is due to our OL play, and will have to be addressed this upcoming year.

RECEIVING

NAME....................REC....YDS........YPG..... YAC.....TD.....DROP

Brian Crowley...........64......836 yds......69.7...255....6 TD......6 drops
Martin West.............47......550 yds......50.0...199....1 TD......1 drop
Stephen Clark...........73......471 yds......39.2...122....6 TD .....3 drops
Jesse Key................23......263 yds......29.2....63.....3 TD .....4 drops
Cody Mendoza..........11......187 yds......46.8... 21.... 0 TD......0 drops
Steven Cheng...........8........84 yds........7.0....49.....1 TD .....3 drops

This group did a good job, and look at next year to breakout. We look forward to having our TE Clark back next year, who had a couple of great games. As you can see we do have some sure-handed wideouts...not alot of drops, other than Crowley.

DEFENSIVE STATS:

NAME................TLKS/SOLO/AST....SACK....INT

SS Max Jackson...........119/93/26............3.........4
FS James Jarrett...........95/69/26..............0........3
ILB Marshall Neal...........84/62/22.............6.........1
OLB Roy Dodge.............77/55/22.............2.........0
CB Luis Moss................35/22/13..............0.........4
DT James Martinez........35/25/10.............6.........0
CB Edwin Davis.............25/15/10.............0........0
DT David Snyder...........22/18/4...............5........0
FS Lynn Becerra............21/10/11............0.........1
DT Ryan Traylor............20/17/3...............4........0
DE Brian Gleason...........17/15/2...............4.........0

The Defense played very good overall, but did give up some very long plays in both the run and pass. Sacks were decent with this group of DL/LB, and we got our fair amount of Ints. We do need to cut down on having our FS/CB make the tackles.

KICKING STATS

NAME...............XP.......FG 1-29.....FG30-39.....FG40-49...FG 50+...FG%....LONG.....PTS

K Ryan Sargent.......27/28.....5-5.........10-13...........5-6.........1-6......70%........50..........90

Kicking...could not ask for anything else. Ryan Sargent (SO), came thur when asked. Look forward to having him around next year.

PUNTING STATS:

NAME...............PUNTS..........AVG......NET.... ...TB.....IN20....LONG

P Travis Barger........86.............42.4........34.1..... .10......14.......58

We will have to look for a replacement as Travis will be hoping to get into the pros.

LETS MEET THE FRESHMAN

QB TIMOTHY DONALDSON: (6-6, 202 lbs) A 4 Star rated player, HS rating of #74 out of Allentown H.S. (NJ). Pos rating of #10 QB. His current rating of 55/75 potential. Has very good pass accurary (67), and arm strength of (79).

This kid will complete for the starting job as a true freshman. Scouts are saying if he works hard, precision passing could become a part of his game that really stands out. Has a good base for developing a solid touch passing game. His arm strenght will lead to some unbelieveable passes as he matures.

SS ANDREW DAVIS: (6-2, 190 lbs) A 4 Star rated player, HS rating of #262 out of Wilbur Cross HS, (CT). Pos rating of #18 SS. His current rating of 53/72 potential. Has good cover stills (69).

We see no reason why he can't complete for a starting postion. Scouts are saying his blitzing skills will be avg. However, when he figures out the college game he will bring down most ball carriers. He's steadily improving and should end up being one of the best zone cover guys in America. He is a natural.

SS MARK GLASS: (6-0, 187 lbs) A 4 Star rated player, HS rating of #273 out of Southern Vance HS, (NC). Pos rating of #21 SS. His current rating of 51/70 potential. Has good cover skills (65).

Another good player in the defensive backfield. Scouts expect good things from him in the future when it comes to blitzing the QB. In the future he should develope good enought man cover skills to make a significant contribution. He should also be pretty good in zone coverage also.

DT DAN GRAY: (6-4, 274 lbs) A 3 Star rated player, HS rating of #354 from Hoke County HS, (NC). Pos rating of #29 DT. His current rating of 53/72 potential. Has very good point of attach (73) and tackling skills (68).

Scouts say he could eventually be one of the best run stuffers this conference has ever seen. As his game continues to improve, he's going to be the kind of tackler coaches rave about. He should develop some pretty good agility and dexterity.

OT TIMOTHY WILKERSON: (6-2, 348) A 3 Star rated player out of Mt. Tabor HS (NC) with a HS rating of #482, and a postion rating of #23 OT. Good pass blk/run blk stills (60/59). Could come in and start if works at it with a current rating of 54/71 potential.

Scouts say he has good upside as a pass blocker and I expect him to develop nicely in this area. He'll develop fairly vaverage agility. This guy hits the weights with a passion that will allow him to overmatch many opponents in the future.

RB STANLEY MOORE: (5-10, 214 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of Red Bank Catholic HS (NJ) with a HS rating of #530, and a postion rating of #41 RB. Very good endurance (99) and acceleration (65). Will see action, as last year no one stepped up, with a current rating of 52/67 potential.

Scouts say he will eventually become a solid outsider runner. His ability to bust tackles will lead to more big gains than the average back. He is the type of runner who feels the hole before it even opens up.

C JOSEPH GREEN: (6-8, 276 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of Spring Creek HS (NC) with a HS rating of #531, and a postion rating of #21C. Good pass blk (58) run blk (57) skills. Could be pressed into startingwith a current rating of 51/71 potential.

Scouts say has some room for growth but he should be a good one when he reaches his peak. He will be able to hold off even the best defensive lineman on pass plays.

WR BENJAMIN LEE: (6-2, 183 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of Beaver Area HS (PA) with a HS rating of #546, and a postion rating of #90 WR. Good speed (72). Will see action, but will not start behind the 2 SRs. Current rating are 53/69 potential.

Scouts say he want drop many passes. He can develop the type of speed most receivers only dream about. He will run some good routes with more experence.

WR MARCOS AKERS: (6-3, 174 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of Neshannock HS (PA) with a HS rating of #554, and a postion rating of #92 WR. Another speed guy...however most likely will redshirt this year with a current rating of 50/61 potential.

Scouts think he has some room to improve but will not be one of the best. He will surprise people with his speed.

WR JOSEPH ROBLES: (6-4, 208 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of South Burlington HS (VT) with a HS rating of #596, and a postion rating of #98 WR. Need for a big tall receiver to help in the redzone. Most likely will redshirt this year.

Scouts think he will be no better than avg, but I hope to use him to return punts and the redzone.

OT BARRY ROBINSON: (6-3, 300 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of Grays Creek HS (NC) with a HS rating of #556, and a postion rating of #30 OT. Good strength (56) and run blk skills (66). Could try for the starting job.

Scouts think he will be blowing defensive lineman off the line of scrimmage. This guy tends to be strong but this kid might set a new standard for strenght by the time he is finished.

CB JAMES TUTTLE: (6-0, 180 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of Gloucester City HS (NJ) with a HS rating of #638, and a postion rating of 63 CB. Good acceleration (60) and tackling skills (52). Will see action as the at the nickle and dime.

Scouts thinks his abiliy to blitz from the corner will be a strenght. He will become a solid tackler as he learns to wrap up and drive through the ball carrier.

DT WALTER BLACK: (6-8, 286 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of Hyde Park HS (MA) with a HS rating of #719, and a positon rating of 53 DT. Good point of attack (73) and a very good work ethic (89). Look for him to play on passing downs.

Scouts thinks with more focus and better technique he will develop solid tackling skills. He has an aggressive style that will rally his teammates and excite the fans.

C ERIC PATTERSON: (6-0, 296 lbs) A 3 Star rated player out of Shamokin Area HS (PA) with a HS rating of #752, and a postion rating of #25. Good strength (68) and run blk skills (69). Could be moved to other positons on the OL as needed, but good to have depth.

Scouts think he will become a solid run blocker, and better than average pass blocker. He has a chance to become one of the strongest lineman in the ACC.
