Re: FIGHTING ON vs the sanctions: Restoring USC to dominance
Woods Leads Trojans to Victory
Robert Woods snags a high TD pass in the 3rd quarter
Dillon Baxter kicks off the scoring of the game on this 7 yard TD. Baxter took the Lead Draw play right up the middle and had to fight for the last few yards as he dragged the Colorado defenders with him across the goal line. Baxter finished the day with 64 yards rushing on 11 carries.
Later in the second quarter, already up 7-0 Matt Barkley finds WR Brice Butler who took the pass 52 yards to pay dirt to give the Trojans a 14-0 lead. The TD was one of Butlers 3 catches on the day. He finished with 108 yards. His first 100 yard game of the season.
Colorado finally got on the board with a 57 yard run with 4:11 remaining in the second quarter. Creer was the only bright spot the Buffaloes had this game rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown. On a day where the Buffaloes struggled to find offense, he was the one consistent threat they could rely on.
Superman Woods would make an incredible diving catch right before half (0:14 remaining) to put the Trojans up 21-7 heading into the half. Woods made a nice break on his defender and was able to adjust to the high throw by Matt Barkley. This was Woods first of 2 TD's on the day.
After a Colorado field goal to start the second half, Matt Barkley once again connected with Robert Woods, this time on a 74 yard pass where Woods made several jukes to reach the end zone. Woods finished the day with 143 yards and 2 TD's. His best game of the season.
After an Andre Heidari FG, freshman (redshirt) Amir Carlisle continues to shine as he breaks a 52 yard run to daylight. Carlisle finished with 71 yards on the day as the teams leading rusher. Carlisle continues to push for more playing time as he is beginning to take carries away from DJ Morgan and Curtis McNeal.
