Coach Mitchell's Quick Takes:
The Good
Defense displayed mid-season form, completely shutting down their run game and forcing them to try and beat our secondary while our front seven pinned their ears back. While we only got to the QB once, he was forced into several errant throws under pressure which lead to some crucial INTs.
The Bad
Our offense, from top to bottom. We struggled to pass protect, we couldn't run the ball effectively and we got called for eight holding penalties. We need to turn that around first thing tomorrow.
The Uglies
QB battle - Tim got the majority of the reps after Mark was rattled on his second series. We'll go back to the drawing board this week, even though we got the win, it was anything but pretty. Mark will get another chance in week 2, after an up-and-down performance from Tim.
RB battle - Unfortunately our entire run game was derailed and with John getting the nod over Lex this week, it doesn't reflect well on him. We'll give Lex the nod for week 2.
RT battle - Both got called for holding penalties and neither were able to seal the edge in the run game. Like the RB battle we'll give Jason the nod for week 2 and see if we can notice any improvement.
LE battle - Coples flashed some highlight ability down the stretch and was surprisingly stout against the run, however, Wilkerson still holds the number one spot for now.
ROLB battle - Both Pace and Maybin showed great recognition and awareness, tracking down the ball carrier on multiple occasions. We're turning this into an overall OLB battle now, with Bryan Thomas added to the mix.
I just started a Jets franchise as well and I found it funny you and me did the exact same thing, trade Bart Scott to the Colts. I however decided to take a 6th round pick and Delone Carter for some running back depth.
@MarkSchlerethEA reports: I've always thought of David Garrard as a guy who could breakout in the right situation. Maybe this is it.
Analysis: Adding fuel to the fire in Cleveland, with another QB thrown into the mix. Training camp must not have instilled confidence in what they had in either McCoy or Weeden, but it seems a strange move to make on a young roster under construction.
@RossTuckerEA reports: Panthers won the bidding war. J. Farrior is on his way to Carolina.
Analysis: After being out maneuvered by the Colts in the Bart Scott trade, the Panthers solidify their LB corp with this solid veteran presence. Should also help to develop and mentor their 1st round pick, Kuechly.
Once again often malcontent receiver, Santonio Homles, has aired his thoughts and complaints to the media:
"I'm a six year vet in this league, but these new coaches wanna treat me like some bush league rook. I'm not here to run 100% in this heat, we gotta preserve the juice for game time when it matters, not some pre-season BS. I say let noobs and unknowns bust guts in pre-season and allow us stars to do what we do."
Homles was seen arguing with both the WR's coach and Head Coach, Luck Mitchell, before sitting on the bench for the remainder of the session. During Rex Ryan's tenure in New York, Holmes often voiced his opinions with very little to no repercussions. Most famously calling QB Sanchez out for being, "lazy and content" and again for being "rattled" by the Tebow trade.
While Coach Mitchell was unwilling to discuss the incident during his press conference, it remains to be seen whether he will pander to the star reciever like his predecessor did.
Once again our defense stepped up and shut down a potentially explosive offense, bringing the QB down was something we highlighted to work on from last week and to see such a quick improvement in that area is very encouraging. The run game really got going this week which was probably the best thing I could have hoped to have seen, especially against such a gifted D-line.
The Bad
Still making too many mental errors, with penalties and missed assignments on both sides of the ball. With such a solid run game, our opponents shouldn’t have been able to get to our QB’s as often as they did. Definitely want to see better pass protection, though I may have to change up the play calling a little bit as well.
The Uglies
QB battle – “This week just served to make the water even murkier. While fans and media alike are clamouring for Tim, I think he’d give me a heart attack by mid-season. He threw two picks in the red zone, but still managed to provide a spark that I haven’t seen from Mark. Speaking of Mark, he had some amazing throws, but is a oblivious in the pocket, taking some very avoidable sacks. I feel that this competition could go down to the wire.” – Coach Mitchell
RB battle - All round fantastic performance from the RBs’ this week. Shonn showed why he was RB1 in his first few carries and Clay took a strangle hold of the second spot after an incredible showing where he broke dozens of tackles and proved he bang it with the best of them. Lex was solid in the backup role, but I think this is now Clay’s job to lose.
RT battle – Howard paved the way for both Clay, Greene and Tebow on several key drives, whereas Jason allowed a key sack on third down. This battle has swung in Howard’s favour.
LE battle – Once again Quinton showed why he was a 1st round draft pick with 2 sacks and great pursuit of the ball. Wilkerson remains the starter but he’s beginning to be pushed by the young upstart.
ROLB battle – Using both Thomas, Pace and Maybin in the rotation worked extremely effectively in shutting down the run as well as pressuring the passer, may have stumbled onto a deadly combination here.
Definitely following as the Jets need some help big time.
Thanks for coming along for the ride, The Gang Green's definitely in need of some major work, hopefully the new GM and HC are up to task.

Btw, I subed in tebow in a play now on a shotgun formation and every now and then he appears on gameplan plays. Sort of felt realistic. But interesting to see how you go.
Appreciate that thanks, still working a bit on the layout but we'll see what happens. QB situation is bit of an issue at the moment, really don't wanna be using a 2 QB system, but again, we'll wait and see.

I repeat, it's Tebow time! I'm being serious. It looks like Tebow had a much better game than Sanchez.
Seems to be moving that way, thought Sanchez would be the more accurate thrower but he's still pretty erratic, then again Tebow could seriously give me a heart attack, he chucks the ball cause you couldn't call what he does throwing.

I was trying to get them to trade P. Angerer but they wouldn't budge and I'd already signed Clay so was happy to get a few draft picks.
