Re: The Super Six - Bristol and Beyond

Week Four - GAME
Bristol Bulldogs vs Oak Ridge Pioneers

Bristol Bulldogs at Oak Ridge Pioneers
Jan 1, 1ST2ND3RD4THSCORE
Bristol Bulldogs ()71414035
Oak Ridge Pioneers ()03003

8/11, 69 yds, 1 TD
5 rushes, 6 yds

4 rushes, 22 yds, 5.5 avg

1 rec, 15 yds (long 15)
1 kick return, 13 yds (long 13)
1 punt returns, 10 yds (long 10)

6 rec, 78 yds (long 44)

1 punt return, 0 yds

4 rec, 32 yds (long 10
), 1 TD
3 punt returns, 19 yds (long 14)

4 tkls (3 solo), 1 deflection, 1 forced fumble

2 tkls, 1 deflection, 1 fumble recovery

This game was very intresting. The Bulldogs recovered from last week's loss with a convincing win against Oak Ridge, but the contributions did not all come from our heroes. Both Van Mayard and Robert Bolig started their games off promisingly, but ended up not completing the game due to injuries. Both are expected to start next game. Matt Viselli has continued to show scouts that he deserves the #1 WR spot, gaining huge chunks of yardage at a time, while Kenneth Maiden III is in a bit of a slump, although he did grab Mayard's lone touchdown throw. Defensively, Mykell Mitchell and Noe Estrella teamed up on a fumble, getting a forced fumble and fumble recovery, respectively. Bristol now has two regular season games left, and needs just one win to clinch a spot in the four-team playoff for the state championship. We'll see if the Super Six can get out of sleep mode and make an impact on the field.

Damn, looked like I was going to have a solid game but that injury ruined it.

I know man, you just can't catch a break. QB goes down, more plays for you, but then you go down with him. Lucky for you, Mayard isn't interested in following Robby to college.

Re: The Super Six - Bristol and Beyond

Week Five - GAME
Bristol Bulldogs vs Cleveland Hurricanes

Bristol Bulldogs at Cleveland Hurricanes
Jan 1, 1ST2ND3RD4THSCORE
Bristol Bulldogs ()101424755
Cleveland Hurricanes ()07007

17/22, 213 yds, 4 TD
16 rushes, 36 yds, 1 TD

5 rushes, 24 yds, 4.8 avg

2 rec, 11 yds (long 7)
2 kick return, 69 yds (long 47)
5 punt returns, 61 yds (long 27)

3 rec, 20 yds (long 8)

5 rec, 136 yds (long 10
), 3 TD

4 tkls (2 solo)

6 tkls (2 solo), 1 INT (17 yd TD), 2 deflections, 1 forced fumble

And with that, the Bristol Bulldogs clinch the state playoffs in promising fashion against Cleveland HS. It seemed like guys had breakout days all over the place, although a couple members of the Super Six did not shine as bright as others. Van Mayard looked like he finally figured everything out. His control issues? Nonexistent this game, as he completed a solid 77% of his passes for 4 touchdowns, and adding on a rushing touchdown. Robert Bolig, on the other hand, was once again covered up by the "Van Mayard Show." I believe scouts still have their eyes on him, as he has always gotten good yardage on his carries, he just needs the right offense. Look for him to shine for whoever gives him the chance. Kenneth Maiden III had a HUGE breakout in this game. He never really looked like an elite wideout this season, but 3 touchdowns and over 130+ yards? Seems pretty elite to me. We'll have to see if he can keep it going. "Noe Man's Land" was in full enforcement today. A pick six and a forced fumble? Not bad, young fella. The Bulldogs play one last tune-up game against East Chattanooga, before playing in the State Semifinals.
