Re: We Are Texans

Texans Release Ronnie Brown

Brown appeared in 4 games this season.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have released veteran running back Ronnie Brown. Brown was one of four running backs on the 53-man roster and was clearly in the back of the pack, as evidenced by his zero carries over the first six weeks of the season. Alfred Blue and Jonathan Grimes remain as the backups to Foster.

Injuries could open up another opportunity for him this year, but Brown, who turns 33 in December, is probably at or very close to the end of the line. Brown, who was the second overall pick of the 2005 draft by the Dolphins, has run for 5,332 yards and 38 touchdowns over the course of his career.

Thriller In The Steel City: Steelers Squeak Past Texans 24-21

AP Pittsburgh -- In a matchup many experts were calling a AFC Championship preview, the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to endge the Houston Texans in their Monday night football showdown.

The Steelers had only one offensive touchdown but they stayed in the game behind the leg of kicker Shaun Suisham. Suisham connected on 3-of-4 field goals including the eventual game winning kick with 22 seconds left. Pittsburgh also got help in the return game with Antonio brown returning a kickoff for 98 yards that had the whole stadium rocking.

Quote:
"I told them not to kick it to me but they didn't want to listen mane."
Steelers WR Antonio Brown
Even with a big touchdown pass to rookie tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz, Ryan Mallett struggled in his second career start. The former Patriot finished with a quarterback rating of just 62.3 with a interception. Arian Foster was held under 100 yards rushing for the first time all season. Even with QB struggles, the Texans had a chance to send the game to overtime, but randy Bullocks attempt as time expired drifted wide right giving the Texans their second consecutive loss after starting out with five straight wins.

Linebacker Brian Cushing led the defense with 1 tackles and a sack while J.J. Watt was right behind him with 8 tackles and 2 more sacks in the loss.

Houston will look to get back on te winning track as they will take on the Tennessee Titans.

Houston We Have A Problem: Texans Losing Streak Hits 3 After 24-17 Loss To Titans

AP Nashville -- After a promising 5-0 start to the season, the Houston Texans have started a downward spiral after dropping their third straight game to division rivals the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon 24-17.

In a game where their defense played great once again forcing the Titans into 5 turnovers and holding them to just 264 offensive yards, their offense failed to show up mustering just 201 total yards in the loss. Ryan Mallett had a terrible outing completing just 8-of-22 passes for 86 yards and 2 interceptions.

Quote:
"Changes will be made at the quarterback position. That's all I have to say about that."
Texans HC Bill O'Brien
Even though they didn't score an offensive touchdown, the Texans defense got them two score with Jason Ankrah and Elbert Mack both returning fumbles for touchdowns. J.J. Watt probably had the best game of his young career finishing with 8 tackles, 4 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. But those stats went to waste as the Texans couldn't pull out the victory.

The Titans defense also played lights out finishing with a season high 9 tackles, making things hard for Mallett and the Texans offensive line. Karl Klung had a career game with 3 sacks. But the play of the game was made by Daimion Stafford who picked off Mallett with 34 seconds left in the 4th quarter with the game tied at 17 all. Stafford took the pick 52 yards to give the Titans the lead and the victory.

Re: We Are Texans

Texans Sign Toomer

Toomer was apart of Seattle's Super Bowl team.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have signed 2nd year outside linebacker Korey Toomer to their 53 man roster. Toomer, who was drafted 154th overall by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft, was one of the Seahawks last cuts before the start of the regular season.

The 6'2 linebacker is expected to see time with starter Brooks Reed out with a broken collarbone and Jason Ankrah the only other healthy outside linebacker on the team.
