With Week 8 out of the way the only Rankings that matter are the BCS Rankings. Here we are with out Initial Rankings of the 2006 season.

Rece Davis: Well we have some interesting things going on here. A 1 Lose Notre Dame sitting above undefeated Cal, Nebraska and Clemson. Mark May what's your take on this?

Mark May: This is something I just don't agree with! You have 3 undefeated teams from the the Power Conferences sitting behind a 1 Lose Independent. This is just absurd. The Big win by Nebraska last week conference game I might add no way this should be.

Rece: It's early on so hopefully things straighten themselves out. What's your take on Boise coming in at number 23 spot?

Mark: That's a tough one to call because you play the teams on your schedule. The only problem is of their 8 wins only 2 of those teams have a winning record. With the way the rest of their schedule looks they could very well be our BCS Buster this year. With 4 games remaining on their schedule they have 3-4 Fresno State, 1-5 San Jose State, 3-5 Utah State and 4-3 Nevada.

Rece: They will be a team to keep an eye to see if they are indeed going to be the BCS Busters this year.

Rece: Let's take a look at this week Heisman Contenders

Rece: Mark who is your favorite on this list?

Mark: I can really choice one because I love the top 2 guys. They both have their teams undefeated at the moment and are putting up great numbers. Gray I would see has more weapons around him then Crowell. I would love to see these two make it to the National Championship and face off against one another.

Rece: Thanks folks for tuning in to our first BCS Countdown show of the year. We see next time right here on BCS Countdown.

Grambling, LA: Week 8 was HomeComing at Grambling State. The would not go without incident as Coach had to suspend 2 starters off the Defense. DT Donald Williams 3 games for getting into a fight on campus and CB Jermaine Mills for 2 games for grades.

Quote:
Coach Roman: When you have guys that break the rules they must pay the price. We want our kids to be high quality men not just football players. Yes they are two of my better players but no one is above the rules.
The Tigers would put on a show for HomeComing. The team feed off of the crowd early and never slowed down. Bama State tried to keep it close in the first half but the G-Men just proved to be too much to contain on this day. Our 2 recruits enjoyed what they saw and told coach he would be hearing from them soon.

The Tigers will travel to Lorman, MS to face the 1-6 Alcorn State Braves. Can the Tigers keep their 2 game win streak going or will they fall back deeper into the MAC Standings?

Re: Welcome to Tiger Land A Grambling State Football Dynasty(NCAA 07 PS2)

Following the Grambling Tigers impressive Homecoming victory. Coach received some great news from the recruiting trail.

SS William Buckley has Committed to playing for Grambling State next year.
The Tigers will need Will to come in contribute right away as they have no Strong Safety returning next year. Will is all city player out of Hernando High in MS. He will also bring much need speed to the back end with his 4.48 40. His Filed Awareness is a C+, Vertical 39.8", Hands C, BP 360lbs, Squat 555lbs, Potential: Average, Discipline: Excellent
Quote:
William Buckley: I wanted to get the process out the way. I knew I could come in here and help right away. Coach Roman reminds me a lot of my High School coach and I was able to build a great relationship with him.
Clifford Boyd has committed to be a Tiger next year.
Cliff is 3A All State Honorable Mention MLB guy from Port Allen High in Port Allen, LA. He formed a great bond with our players and this is why he chose to commit. He sees the family environment and wanted to be a part of that. Cliff has 4.65 40 speed, B Field Awareness, 34.5" Vertical, F Hands, BP: 380lbs, SQ: 655lbs, Potential: Poor, Discipline: Poor
Quote:
Clifford Boyd: I loved how the players interacted. They made me feel like family. My family won't have to drive far to come see me play either only a few hours to north Louisiana. Coach has told me that I must work on my discipline. I can see now by the guys he has benched he does not play around

Grambling has 3 more recruits left on their In-Season Recruiting Board. They are in the top 2 for all of them.

Lorman, MS: Week 9 saw the Tigers travel to play the Braves of Alcorn State. The game did not go as planned at all. The Braves jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead by the time Grambling would get anything working in the 2nd Quarter. The Tigers would fight hard to get back into this one going with a mix of hurry up and playing solid D. By the half they had chopped the deficit 21-31 Braves at the half. The 2nd Half of the game is when things went from bad to worse as QB Brandon Landers would go down with Dislocated Elbow(out 6 weeks) and starting DE Jason Banks would go down with a Bruised Shoulder(out 2 weeks). Back up QBs David Brown and Desmond Brantley tried do their best to fill in for Landers but to no avail. The Tigers would only manage to put up 10 points the rest of the game all in the 3rd Quarter and would leave Lorman with another lose in the record column. The Tigers are now 3-5 on the year and 3-2 in Conference play.

Rece:Kirk what's your take on this week's BCS rankings?

Kirk: I look at this rankings and wonder how is it Notre Dame is still out ranking Nebraska. Then towards the bottom you 3 undefeated teams getting no love from the rankings. Ole Miss, Maryland and Boise State. If I'm one of those schools I'm sitting like what more do we need to do to get respect?

Rece:There are some big games coming up this weekend but the one everyone is talking about is West Virginia visiting Louisville.

Kirk: If Louisiville wins this top 10 match up and does not move up the rankings then we know we have a problem with the current BCS system.

Rece:Join us next time on BCS countdown

Re: Welcome to Tiger Land A Grambling State Football Dynasty(NCAA 07 PS2)

Jay Walker here catching up with Grambling State University head coach Matt Roman.

Jay: Coach, this has been a long year for Tiger fans but the players still seem motivated why is that?

Coach: For the players they understand it's a process. Sometimes things take longer than we expect. We have had our issues this year players being suspended, players being hurt. When you add that to a team that can't afford to have those things happen it can be a long year for a fan base.

Jay:Speaking of injuries you just lost Quarterback Brandon Landers for what could be the season if you guys don't make it Bowl. How will things change for the Tigers Offense?

Coach: As of right now we don't plan to change too much we have been working both our back up QBs, but the overall talent level is not the same as Brandon is a 82OVR and his back ups 48OVR. We will just have to try and make calls that but us in the best position.

Jay: There has been talk about using one of your WRs in a WildCat package is this true?

Coach:It is something we've talked about. We have not decided yet if we will use it. If we do use the WildCat we will look to put Chris Byrd back there.

Jay:How have things been as far as recruiting?

Coach:Things have been going great as you know we got commitments from Boyd and Buckley who we hope will help us get better on Defense. We have 3 Offensive lineman we are after right now 2 of who will be in town for our game this week against South Carolina State.

Jay:What's been the one thing you guys have focused on with these recruits?

Coach: Biggest thing we focused on was need. We needed those two Defenders and their speed. For the O-Line we need Depth and hopefully some guys we can plug in from day one.

Jay:Thanks for your time coach and good luck this week.

Coach:Anytime Jay.

Grambling, LA: Week 10 saw the South Carolina State Bulldogs come pay the Grambling State Tigers a visit. The Tigers were over matched today as they couldn't get much work out of their Quarterbacks. SCSU jumped out to a 14-0 before the Tigers were able to get a FG. Grambling would add two more FGs in the 2nd Quarter to make it 9-14 Dawgs at the half. The 2nd Half was much the same story as Grambling was held to a FG. While SCSU put up 15 more points. South Carolina Sate walks out of Grambling victorious. Grambling now falls to 3-6 on the year.
