Panthers Avenge Themselves

On December 27, 2015, the Atlanta Falcons ended the Carolina Panthers’ bid to become the second team in NFL history to have a 16-0 regular season. Carolina had been looking forward to the next meeting ever since then. That meeting came this weekend, and while another run at perfection had already ended for the Panthers, the Birds came into the contest still having a zero in the L column, intensifying Carolina’s desire for payback. When the Panthers jumped out to an early 17-0 lead, it looked like a rout was on. But on the strength of a 21-point third quarter outburst, the Falcons fought their way back to within a field goal- twice. And if Matt Ryan had not been forced out of the game with a bruised sternum, the game might have ended in a stirring comeback victory for Atlanta. Trailing 30-24, the Falcons had driven deep into Carolina territory and were looking for a go-ahead score when Ryan was injured on a sack. With Matt Schuab at the helm, Atlanta was unable to reach the end zone, and Matt Bryant’s 33 yard kick made it a field goal game once more. The Falcon’s next series ended when Schaub threw a pick to Kurt Coleman, and the turnover was converted into a Fozzy Whittaker touchdown run that effectively put the game out of reach with 1:07 to go. In Atlanta’s last-gasp effort, Schaub fumbled the ball away, and Carolina’s payback was sweetened by knocking the Falcons from the ranks of unbeaten teams.

I hope he does. I have a shotgun formation where the HB is in the slot and I've subbed him into it so he'll see some extra reps other than subbing in and returning kicks.

Re: California Dreamin'

Seems like you're off to an ok start to the season at 1-2. Looks like Keenum's been playing ok and keeping Goff off of the field.

Btw what's the first song you used in your Cardinals-Bills recap video?

Another Snake Bite

Did the signing of C.J. Spiller light a fire under Todd Gurley, or was he just due? In the first meeting of 2016 between the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals, Gurley rushed for a career-high 181 yards, beating his previous mark of 159 established versus the Green Bay packers on October 11, 2015. Unfortunately, Gurley’s souped-up production did not carry LA to victory. The Rams held first half leads of 10-0 and 17-7, but had their advantage trimmed to 3 points by halftime and a Chandler Catanzaro field goal was the only score of the third quarter, sending the game into the final period in a 17-17 tie. The fourth quarter began with the Rams going back in front on a 41 yard kick by Greg Zuerlein, but Arizona then marched to its first lead of the game on a 2 yard run by David Johnson. Another lead change followed, with Case Keenum hitting Brian Quick for a 6 yard TD with 9 minutes to go. The LA defense then had to come up with a goal line stand to keep the team from falling behind again. With the tying boot by Catanzaro coming with 4:31 to play, the Rams had an opportunity to drive to a walk-off kick and even their record at 2-2, but Tavon Austin coughed up the ball on the ensuing kickoff, and another goal line stand was required to ensure that the turnover was only converted into 3 points. Getting the ball back just ahead of the two minute warning, LA still had a chance to at least force overtime, but that was prevented by a turnover on downs, and the Cards ran out the clock on their gifted win.

Todd Gurley was in peak form against the Cards. Let’s hope he maintains it going forward.

Maurice Alexander forced an after-catch fumble by David Johnson...

...and the ensuing scramble for the ball looked like a rugby scrum.

1-3 now but not playing like it. We need to catch some breaks. Yeah, Keenum's doing OK enough to hold the job for now but if the season becomes a lost cause might as well let Goff get some more work in.

The song was in the end credits of Ballers a couple of episodes back.

Re: California Dreamin'

Just getting caught up, this is great. Your franchises are always top notch and I really like the videos. It's an awesome touch. Surprised to see the Titans at 4-0! Good luck through the rest of the season. It seems Keenum has been good enough, in a losing effort, to keep his job. What's your plan with Goff?

Thank you for this, I'm now going to start blasting this in my car weekly lmao.

And yeah, I see the Rams suffered yet another tough loss. Hopefully you guys can start stringing together some wins or I have a feeling Jeff Fisher will get a pink slip in the near future.
