Re: Winning in the Windy City | A Chicago Bears Dynasty (M19)
Around the NFL: Championship Week
NFL Players of the Week: Championship Games NFC OPOW: RB Todd Gurley II - Rams - 23 car, 154 yds, 4 rec, 20 yds, 1 TD NFC DPOW: CB Prince Amukamara - Bears - 1 INT, 1 TD, 4 tackles AFC OPOW: QB Deshaun Watson - Texans - 21/35, 222 yds, 3 TDs AFC DPOW: CB Kareem Jackson - Texans - 1 INT, 4 tackles Bears extend Nagy through 2023 The Bears have announced a 4-year contract extension given to Matt Nagy, which keeps him in Chicago through 2023. Nagy, who has gone 23-9 with a 1-2 playoff record in his first 2 seasons, has helped make Chicago a force in the NFC, as they have improved each season since he has taken over. Bears sign 9 players to reserve/future contracts Madden NFL 19_20190313165824.jpg The Bears have signed the following players to reserve/future contracts: QB Easton Stick QB Marcus McMaryion RB Miles Sanders CB John Franklin III K Jonathan Brown G Dejon Allen OLB Kylie Fitts CB Rock Ya-Sin WR Terry Godwin Giants hire Eric Bieniemy as new head coach The New York Giants were the first of 4 NFL teams with head coaching vacancies to make a move, as they announced the hiring of Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy to be their new head coach after the firing of Pat Shurmur. Bieniemy is a former NFL RB who played for the Chargers, Bengals, and Eagles between 1991 and 1999. He then worked as a RB coach for Colorado, UCLA, and the Minnesota Vikings before becoming the offensive coordinator for Colorado in 2011. After 2 seasons as an OC, he went back to the NFL and became the RB coach for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013, and was later promoted to OC in 2018. After 2 seasons as the OC in KC, Bieniemy has finally gotten his first shot at a head coaching gig. This comes as a surprise to some, as the Chiefs have a HC vacancy of their own and Bieniemy was expected to become the Chiefs' new head coach.

Re: Winning in the Windy City | A Chicago Bears Dynasty (M19)
Rams defeat Texans 23-17 in OT to capture 2nd Super Bowl title, Goff wins MVP
GoffSB.jpg The Los Angeles Rams are your 2019 NFL Champions! They defeated the Houston Texans in an instant classic, winning on a Jared Goff to Robert Woods touchdown in overtime, the second Super Bowl game to go to overtime in its 54 year history. The first points of the game were scored by the Texans, on a short Deshaun Watson fade route to the back left corner of the end zone to third string tight end Jordan Thomas, to put the Texans up 7-0 in the first quarter. Rams kicker Matt Gay would miss a 44 yard attempt in the first quarter, but the Rams offense got hot in the second quarter. The Rams scored on two Goff touchdown passes in the second quarter, the first one a 16 yarder to Cooper Kupp, and the second on on a screen pass to Robert Woods that he took 20 yards for a score. The Texans had a chance to cut into the lead before half, but Ryan Succop could not convert on a 54 yard try as time expired on the first half, and the Rams took a 14-7 lead to the locker room. Following a Jared Goff pass that was intercepted by Texans corner Kareem Jackson on the first drive of the second half, the Texans capitalized by driving down the field and scoring on Deshaun Watson's second touchdown pass of the night, to Chris Conley. This evened up the game at 14-14. The defenses played better in the second half, as the game went scoreless for over 20 minutes of game time. The tie was finally broken late in the fourth quarter, as Matt Gay put a 25 yard field goal through the uprights with under 4 minutes to play, giving the Rams a 17-14 lead. The Texans took the ball on the next drive and slowly drove up the field, but were stopped on a third down at the Rams' 34 yard line with under a minute to go. They were facing a 4th & 4, and decided to send out the veteran Succop to try to tie the game up late. Succop connected on the 51 yarder, tying the game at 17 and eventually sending the game into overtime. The Texans won the toss, and got down into Rams territory but were unable to get into field goal range, and forced to punt. Jared Goff led the Rams down the field with accurate throws along with some tough running by Todd Gurley, and on a 1st & goal play, the Rams lined up in the shotgun. They had 3 receivers, with Robert Woods to the left, and Cooper Kupp and Brandin Cooks on the right, with Cooks in the slot. "Goff looks over the defense, takes the snap, looks left, quick throw...he has Woods! He catches it at the goal line and the Rams win it! The Rams are Super Bowl champions once again!!" Goff hit Woods on a slant and Woods made a spectacular catch at the one, and fought his way into the end zone and the Rams walked off to win the Super Bowl in exciting fashion. With the Super Bowl officially over, it leaves one team celebrating and the other 31 teams getting ready for a big offseason as they set to compete for the Super Bowl trophy again next season.

Bears use franchise tag on Trevathan, make other pre-FA moves
The Chicago Bears have decided to place the 2020 franchise tag on MLB Danny Trevathan, keeping him in Chicago for at least another year after the two sides could not agree to terms on a contract extension. Trevathan, 30, will earn $8.36 million in 2020. The Bears also made a few other roster moves as the NFL gets set to enter the first day of free agency this week: Contract Extensions RB Corey Clement - 4yrs/16.7mil WR Javon Wims - 4yrs/8.6mil CB Kevin Toliver II - 2yrs/2.6mil WR Andy Isabella - 1yr/650k G Trevon Tate - 2yrs/3.1mil T Tyler Roemer - 1yr/600k Players Testing Free Agency RB Jordan Howard S Anthony Harris CB Sherrick McManis QB Chase Daniel Player Cuts CB Prince Amukamara - clears 6.52mil WR Kevin White - clears 1.99mil |

Re: Winning in the Windy City | A Chicago Bears Dynasty (M19)
Another team fills vacancy as Bills hire former Jets DC
The Buffalo Bills found their new head coach today, hiring Kacy Rodgers, who spent the last 5 seasons as the New York Jets defensive coordinator. Before becoming the Jets' DC, Rodgers spent 12 seasons as a defensive line coach for the Cowboys (2003-07) and Dolphins (2008-2014). Rodgers is taking his first head coaching job, and interestingly, looks to try to implement the 46 defense as the main defense, something that hasn't been seen recently in the NFL. This leaves the Vikings and Chiefs as the only 2 teams without a head coach.
