Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Here are two articles on Miller being broken:
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/shelb...-looks-broken/
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/can-t...shelby-miller/
Personally, Miller was one of my favorite players, but he's no longer a strikeout pitcher, has major control problems, and needs to develop a second and third pitch to go along with the fastball. He could be good, but we needed a right fielder, and I don't think we could have gotten anyone better in free agency or a trade. If we can extend him, it seems like a good deal for the Cardinals. I know a lot of Cardinals' fans were happy about it, and a lot of Braves' fans weren't thrilled.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hello, heading into 2015 in my chise, and i want to ask, what are some realistic SP trade targets for the Cubs? I'm willing to part with any prospect not named Kris Bryant or Javier Baez. (Couldn't sign any top SP because somehow Lester, Shields, and Scherzer were all extended). Can't trade for Cole Hamels either cause i have only 13 million available (this game treats the cubs' budget like we're the rays)
One trade partner i might have found is the Giants. They signed SP Chris Young and Jake Peavy, and acquired CJ Wilson. They have 6-7 MLB starting pitchers, and i feel Matt Cain could be acquireable. What might a Cain package look like? I feel like SS Gleyber Torres and 3B Christian Villanueva is fair, do i need to add more?
(This isnt all I need. I need 2 starters to go along with Arrieta, Hendricks, and Brett Anderson (whom i got on a 1 year deal) so any other suggestions please let me know asap)
Heres the info on Cain: Rated an 83, B potential, coming off of an injury plagued 2014 in which he had a 4.50 ERA
ONE MORE THING: What might a Yasmandy Grandal package look like?
Thanks a lot!Last edited by Cubs1984Nostaglia; 11-23-2014, 09:52 AM.Comment

I had the same issue in my franchise as you did. Everybody re-signed with their original team so I had to trade for Lester.
As for your Cain trade, I think it would still take more than Torres and Villanueva. They would probably want at least one of Almora, Russell (if you have him) etc.Comment

It's on the first page on the lower half of the first post. Here is the link as well.

I that sounds fair to me. I usually use the spreadsheet as a guide and then just do what feels right/fair, making sure I give them a player of need as well as the suggested prospects.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
This is a tough one because it has been said that the Reds feel they have one last chance to win next year and are going to go for it, but that could be posturing to try and get the best deals. They are built to win now with not much for prospects in the farm and high salary MLB quality starters in the bigs. Might wait till June 2015 to see if they are doing poorly for realism or if they do deal someone irl. Otherwise, you'll have to give up something they need like Cespedes and a bench piece for the future like Holt OR Betts that fills present and future needs for them. I don't see present interest in the names you brought up (WMB, Cecchini, Marrero), maybe in June/July.
Cincinnati is coming off a 82-80 season that found them 3rd in the NL Central. Their pitching was great, but the offense, not so much. I would send Cespedes and another piece, but it won't be anything like Betts. The Reds have a pressing need for a LF (Heisey set to be OD starter) and could afford to lose a pitcher. I really need pitching now, as my rotation would only go: Lester (If he even signs), then drop down to Kelly. I see Latos being ideal for the Reds to let go of for many reasons, including its his contract year.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

I don't think it makes sense to trade Cespedes for Latos because Cespedes will be a free agent after 2015. They will both make similar money in 2015 in Latos' last year of arb eligibility. If you are selling this as a salary dump for the Reds, they will need to dip into your young, controllable specs. I see Betts or JBJ+Owens/E-Rod headlining a Latos deal rather that Yoenis.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
The trade fills major holes for both teams. Cespedes fills that void in LF, and Latos fills a void in my rotation. No, I'm not selling this as a salary dump, but rather as a win now move for both sides. This is pretty much the same as the trade that got Cespedes here in the first place. I don't see the prospects as a fit for the Reds right now, as Walt Jocketty is competitive, and believes he can compete with the powerhouses in the NL Central right now. Yoenis Cespedes is a productive OFer who would help Cincinnati, who lacks productive OFers. They have a plethora of pitchers, and could afford to deal one for a big bat. Not to mention I'm willing to deal an additional player.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment
