Finally got my first career Grand Slam, but there's a catch (not literally).

Had to restart my careers.. Again...

      "Captain" Kirk Schaeffer #13

      1B: 6'2'' 245lbs
-Started from Goldchmidt template to start with a more athletic first baseman (started with 60 speed)
-Very good showcase despite lack of RBI production from the 9 hole.
-Drafted to the Marlins 2nd overall in what seems like a perfect fit with only two other 1st baseman in the entire organization and my starting overall is higher than the AAA starter.

      SP: 6'1'' 228lbs
-Started with 5/5 velocity and added the other point to break.
-Smokin' RFB 96-99, Dominate Change-Up 83-86 (best pitch in MLB 14, especially with the velocity difference) Filthy Slider 85-89.
-Showcase was up and down but the K's earned him a 4th overall selection by the twins.

I was wondering if you can play this mode with your sliders configuration or do you have to play this mode with default ones that the game sets up for you to play with and there difficulty level and not yours. Please reply back to me and let me know about this. Thanks a lot!

Yes you can play with your slider selection as long as you download the sliders before you play.

I've tried all combinations of guess pitch and hitting type, but I can't hit with any of them. My player has about 65 on both contacts and 50 on both power ratings. When I do timing hitting, I'll sometimes time a good pitch at the right time but the PCI will be way off for some reason and I'll hit a soft grounder or pop-up. Basically, a lot of it seems like luck. When I do zone, I can't react to the pitch in time and I rely on getting pitches towards the middle (or guessing the pitch correctly). I'm pretty good at taking balls (~65% according to my profile) and swinging at strikes (~80%), but I can't move the zone quickly enough. What control setup does everyone use?
I went through the same thing. I was timing only (had the same issues you did) but I personally found zone much better for me. Still not raking the ball by any stretch...but much better contact and I'm learning to move the pci much better (it's still mostly guesswork).

Timing hitting depends mostly on plate vision so if your vision is under 70 you will foul off fastballs down the pipe repeatedly and annoyingly. Overall you wont see great results using the timing unless you have PV over 80, zone hitting is a much better option this year.

Also the problem could be that you keep switching between different styles and don't get properly acclimated.

Yeah, I don't like timing hitting because the location of the pci is so random (well, not really random) I will get a pitch right in the middle of the plate and pop it up because the PCI was covering the lower outside corner.I use zone and pretty much leave the PCI dead center and look for mistakes.

I have discovered an interesting development in the career of "Captain" Kirk Schaeffer and I want to get some feedback from you guys.

I really don't like playing 1B defensively because of the problems getting back to the base when holding the runner on, so I decided to explore some possible position switches and discovered that the Marlins will let me switch to any other infield position and due to building an athletic first baseman I have capable speed to play either middle IF position.

So my question is: Do you guys generally find it more fun and receive more opportunities playing SS or 2nd base?

I built a 2nd baseman earlier and enjoyed using him but I haven't tried SS this year. The Marlins have struggling players at both potions so neither would appear to affect my road to the majors.

In RTTS is it possible to set the camera so that when you are making plays on defense the view is facing you - as if zoomed in by the catcher, instead of having the camera behind you?

For example if I am playng CF I would like to gauge the ball and make the catch with the camera facing me instead of the camera behind me.

I HATE that! I am a First baseman and they quirk is my biggest gripe by far!

Well, until the MLB backup was demoted to AAA and they relegated me to DH. Now I get no fielding opportunities (and NO fielding points)

I found that I get the same amount between ss and 2b. I am primary 2b with ss secondary and played some ss in the minors in my first season. It also seems like you get more opportunities skipping to your next play rather than watching the sim play by play. I didn't do any real analysis on that it's more feel and could be all in my head. I also like playing second because you get to cover second more in steal attempts. I also wanted to be a bit mor offensive so at second I can prioritize offense over fielding attributes.

I played third and catcher in real life but just can't do it in the game, not enough action. Plus it's pretty sweet batting second in front of Tulo and playing up the middle next to him.

i decided to change one thing in my RTTS progression plan, and wavering on another. I ran some sims of the career (just to get an idea what I'd be dealing with later), and I'm realizing that it's really important to not waste any of my points. So, for this last regression I had and any future ones, I'm going to put 1 point in every attribute when they go yellow. This does mean it will be a mid-season progression of 2-3 points rather than keeping them stable(depending on how many regressions there are), but I feel like it's better to get the full benefit of those points. Especially later on when the costs to avoid regression get much larger.

I'm also wavering on purposely progressing my player no more than 6-7 points in the offseason. This one's tougher because I do still need to figure out how many points to save (to avoid regression in a worst-case scenario the following year.) Still have some time to figure that out a little more before season's end, though.

True Analog for hitting is my favorite too. It feels more like I am hitting the ball than any other mode, especially given the stride aspect of it.
