    Bubba "Big Country" Woods

The pride of Georgia made his debut in AA last night as the Springfield Cardinals defeated the San Antonio Missions 3-1. 1B Bubba "Big Country" Woods went 1-4 and 1 RBI to lead off his professional career. The 18 year old- 6'7" 1B looked like a giant compared to the other players and that led to Springfield Coach Bobby Dons asking " I want to see that man's birth certificate! Damn!" We will continue to check in on Bubba's progress and hoping he can swing a trade to Atlanta soon.

One thing that bugs me a bit, guy on 2nd I'm up to bat. I decide to bunt, P and 3B converge on the ball..whether I beat it out or not the runner at 2nd stays put. It happens almost all the time..RTTS btw.
Yup, same thing happens to me.

Just completed my first regular season about to head into the playoffs with the Braves who won the East.

I pretty much was a monster my first year after getting called up in late May. I batted .320 with an even 40 HR and 100 RBI. I started out pretty cold but got going in July, cooled off in August but had a great September to raise my average from .290 to .320 and help erase a 5 game deficit in the division to win it by one game.

        On to the playoffs!

I'm not sure what it is, but I'll hit fine in AA and AA, but can't buy a hit in MLB.

My combined 3 months in the majors my first year I batted (well) below .200, and now in spring training I'm currently batting .160 (4 for 25).

          My attributes involving hitting are...

          Con vs R - 68
          Con vs L - 62
          Pwr vs R - 65
          Pwr Vs L- 51
          Vision - 85
          Clutch - 70
          Discipline - 52

I understand they're not the greatest, but I don't think I should be struggling this much.

Unless it's because I'm using timing. It's what I've always used, but I've seen people saying it's not the best way to go.

I've gone through spells in my first season in the majors. I started out hitting very poorly (like .130 through the first few weeks). Eventually I got really hot and hit in the upper .300s for maybe three weeks or less. Now I'm in a bit of cold spell again, hitting something like 1 for 30 in my last few games.

I think as a rookie, you end up being inconsistent at best. Hopefully after this season things will improve in that department. For reference my contact ratings are 83 each way and about 80 vision.

I still think they moved me up too soon, but the team traded away the top third baseman in the system leaving them no real options.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

Made another RTTS character today. "Louis Jackson" a 6'6 230 lb first baseman. Didn't do very well in the showcase, and got drafted in the 2nd round by the Giants. But I wanted to be a first round pick, so I did 1 year jr college and did the showcase over again.

This time, at age 19 my 1B dominated. In the 2nd game he got 2 RBI singles and a bases clearing double (3 RBIs) the team scored 5 runs, all driven in by Jackson.

I entered the draft and was projected to go early in the 1st round. Was thinking I'd like to go to teams like Seattle, the Mets, Phillies, some teams at the top of the 1st round where I could be the 1st baseman of the future.

So after the speech at the beginning of the draft, the Astros are on the clock "With the 1st pick, the Houston Astros select Louis Jackson, a first baseman from the West region."

1st pick. I was all excited. I'm just getting into the season now. In the first game Jackson went 2-4 with an RBI. I hope my 1B is on the fast track to Minute Maid park.

After doing some batting practice with the hitting settings on All-star using the zone interface with the PCI on, I may start to use those in RTTS.

Of course I will probably restart and use the minor leagues to get better with it. As of right now I seem to have a harder time watching the ball with the PCI on, resulting in me swinging at a lot of bad pitches. It was easier just to watch the ball with the setting on timing.

For those of you who use and enjoy Zone/PCI I have a few questions:

                  - Does the PCI get bigger the higher your contact and/or vision ratings are?

                  - What would be your best piece of advice using this setting?

                  - And what do you think is the biggest advantage of using Zone/PCI as opposed to Timing?

I requested a trade from Cincinnati, and got traded to the NY Mets, which I also requested a trade from, and got traded to the Oakland A's.

8/2 - My contract was bought by the Mets and now I'm in the Show.

                      Quick question.

Currently I'm holding on to my training points to stockpile them. At what point will my attributes start to regress? Is it even wise to stockpile them?

Loving RTTS, btw. My first baseball game in a good 5-6 years. (CF, drafted 3rd round, 4th pick by the Twins, currently 24 games into my AA season, batting .380 with 31 RB! & 8 HR)

I'm not sure how different the pci is when batting is, but the view of it in the swing analysis screen after each pitch is definitely need on ratings.

The biggest advantage of it to me is fun factor. You are more involved in the batting process and there's more eye coordination using zone.

I'm looking forward to getting started with it. I'm creating my guy now. I think once I get use to it, I'll enjoy it much more. I couldn't help but be pretty frustrated when I'd foul off a pitch down the middle. Now I'll have no one to blame but myself.

Manual Injuries in RTTS. Is it still possible to set them? I've turned them on in my gameplay options, but unlike in MLB the Show 13 and for at least the last 5 or so years prior, I can not set any injuries from the roster screen. In the "Personnel" tab "CPU Roster Control" has a big lock on it. I'm not sure if this makes a difference. In the past anytime the CPU would make a stupid trade I could reload, give the player a headache, and keep him on my team. It really takes the fun out of the game when your RTTS player is on the Brewers and the team trades Braun and Lucroy for some no names when we're up by 12 games in July.

Benjamin Mays wasn't supposed to make it out of his hometown in Maryland. He didn't care for school, he could never keep a job longer than a week, and he felt trapped in his own neighborhood.

But baseball was always there. He could fail at hitting and still be a success, getting on base 30% of the time was superb, getting even 60% on a test was considered a failure. Camden Yards became a home away from home for Mays. He was enamored with baseball.

As he grew up it was blatantly apparent that Mays was fast, really fast. Coaches at his high school tried to utilize his speed in every sport. He couldn't handle the physical toll of football, he didn't have the proper foot-eye coordination for soccer, he had zero touch with his shooting form in basketball, he couldn't even skate which eliminated hockey early, track was too easy with his speed, but baseball... baseball brought out his competitiveness. He was unstoppable on the base paths, his hitter's eye was unparalleled, his glove was a vacuum in CF. At the end of his senior season, Mays was the top position prospect in all of Maryland and was formally invited to the Topps Showcase game.

At the Showcase, Mays lead off the game's with a triple - a double for less speedy players. He would go on to make solid contact through out and steal a handful of bases that really impressed a few teams.

He was taken in the second round by the Orioles. His hometown team, the same that he watched nearly every day to escape his own neighborhood, had selected him. He was overjoyed.

However, upon arriving in Bowie, Mays took a look at the organizational depth chart and realized that he had little to no chance to actually make it to the MLB level with Baltimore (especially with Adam Jones ahead of him). He was likely selected so that the O's could make a trade in the future to have a shot at a World Series. Oh well, if that was going to be the case he was going to embrace it, at least he had a shot at a career.

Mays made a quick impression on the fanbase in Bowie (and those around the country) with his quick feet. Collecting 8 stolen bases in just 19 games is impressive by itself, doing it when everyone knows you're running is otherworldly. Benjamin Mays was given the nickname Flash by those around the country, but those in Bowie began calling him Money - he was absolute money on the base paths.

Here's to what can hopefully be a long and promising career for Benjamin Mays, a.k.a. Benjamin "Flash", a.k.a. "Money" Mays, a.k.a. "Flash Money".

                                1) Yes

                                2) You can still move the PCI after you swing for about a split second or so. It can be helpful to make contact on those outside pitches but can also over move the pci and hurt you.

                                3) you are in control of the PCI not the computer
