well the 2016 season has come to an end The Cubs have finished wit a 96-66 record thanks in large part to their two "Co- MVP" winners SP Jordan Zimmermann and 2B Jerry Finger. Zimmermann actually won the National League MVP award and CY Young with a 26-2 win/loss record a 2.00era and 180SOs. While his teammate Finger finished in 2nd place in votes with a .339avg 39HRs 123RBIs. When asked about the award Zimmermann said him and Finger will both share it because they both deserve it.
24yr old Finger lead the league in Batting Average .339, Hits 204, Slugging .605, and OPS.971. He was 3rd in HRs with 39, 2nd in RBIs with 123, 5th in Runs with 96, and 2nd in Stolen Bases with 46. Needless to say he was a stat sheet stuffer and brought home multiple batting awards. He won the Batting Title, Hank Aaron Award, and Silver Slugger award.
Unfortunately he wasn't able to make the elusive 40-40 club missing it by just 1 HR. Nor did he take home the triple crown he was 5HRs short of that accomplishment also. When asked about his awards and missed accomplishments he had this to say.
" I am very proud of the accomplishments I have made this year, a little disappointed about not winning the MVP award but glad it went to Jordan instead of someone else, as far as the 40-40 club and triple crown go though don't trip there is always next year ( laughs) Yea next year ima make sure I hit more HRS and this wont be a problem than. But now we gotta focus on the playoffs and making it to the World Series Go Cubs."
Well now the Cubs have their eyes set and focused on there division rivals The Cardinals who just defeated the Diamondbacks 4-1 in the wild card game. Lets hope for a long playoff run for the Cubs.
