Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

well the 2016 season has come to an end The Cubs have finished wit a 96-66 record thanks in large part to their two "Co- MVP" winners SP Jordan Zimmermann and 2B Jerry Finger. Zimmermann actually won the National League MVP award and CY Young with a 26-2 win/loss record a 2.00era and 180SOs. While his teammate Finger finished in 2nd place in votes with a .339avg 39HRs 123RBIs. When asked about the award Zimmermann said him and Finger will both share it because they both deserve it.
24yr old Finger lead the league in Batting Average .339, Hits 204, Slugging .605, and OPS.971. He was 3rd in HRs with 39, 2nd in RBIs with 123, 5th in Runs with 96, and 2nd in Stolen Bases with 46. Needless to say he was a stat sheet stuffer and brought home multiple batting awards. He won the Batting Title, Hank Aaron Award, and Silver Slugger award.
Unfortunately he wasn't able to make the elusive 40-40 club missing it by just 1 HR. Nor did he take home the triple crown he was 5HRs short of that accomplishment also. When asked about his awards and missed accomplishments he had this to say.

" I am very proud of the accomplishments I have made this year, a little disappointed about not winning the MVP award but glad it went to Jordan instead of someone else, as far as the 40-40 club and triple crown go though don't trip there is always next year ( laughs) Yea next year ima make sure I hit more HRS and this wont be a problem than. But now we gotta focus on the playoffs and making it to the World Series Go Cubs."

Well now the Cubs have their eyes set and focused on there division rivals The Cardinals who just defeated the Diamondbacks 4-1 in the wild card game. Lets hope for a long playoff run for the Cubs.

        Update in my Griffey RTTS:

At AAA Colorado Springs (Rockies) the 19 year old Griffey was in the midst of a modest 12 game hitting streak on 5/29/15 when the Rockies purchased his contract. The Major League debut came on 5/30, starting in CF and batting 7th.

The Rockies (33-22) were at home when the Brewers came to town. Griffey went 3-4 with 2 singles and a double. His 1st MLB at bat was a battle against Tyler Thornburg, a 10 pitch at bat that resulted in a walk.

I believe he is now cemented as the everyday CF, but as I only played the one game, I'm not sure yet. The debut was fun, and I'm looking forward to big things in this RTTS.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread

I've been playing a SP and got called up to the Diamondbacks my first season. We went to the world series but I didn't get to pitch at all even though I pitched for 1/2 of the season and had a 2.3ish ERA and a .9ish WHIP. We lost to the Rays.

I got really bored of that, I'm pretty good at pitching and use Allstar ++ but I want to make a batter. I have a few questions:

          1) What position would you recommend for a big HR hitter?
          2) What stats should I get up? Obviously Power and Contact, but is Plate vision important?
          3) Do you normally use Square or Circle for HR's?
          4) What batting style would you recommend for someone new to hitting, I've been using Timing(I'm really bad at hitting) but I've heard that it isn't the best because low plate vision hurts it.

            2016 Cubs Playoffs Review

            1st Series Cubs vs Cardinals
Cubs swept the Cards in 3-o in the division round even though 2nd baseman Jerry Finger only had 2 hits 1HR and 5 RBIs.

            2nd Series Cubs vs Dodgers
Cubs lost the first 2 games than won 3 in a row lost the 6th game and won in game 7 with a score of 3-2 Jerry Finger had 6 hits the whole series.

            World Series Cubs VS Athletics
Cubs lost the first 3 games as 2nd Baseman Finger continued to slump through the playoffs he had 1 hit thru 3 games. On the brink of elimination some how the Cubs were able to pull through and win the next 3 games and take it to game 7 even though their star Hitter was ineffective throughout the series.

Game 7 of the World Series as they say BIG players show up in BIG Moments and boy did Finger finally decide to show up his first AT bat was a 1 run HR, he also had a Double, and a Single and a Walk. but all of this didn't help propel his team to victory as they lose 2-3.
we tried to talk to Finger about the disappointing end to his season but all he would say is see you next year. As im sure he was very disappointed in his postseason performance. Time for the offseason where Finger hopes to get a big long term deal but if not there is always the fact that he is eligible for arbitration and will more than likely be awarded however much he wants even if he asks for 30mil. We will see wat happens.

Takahashi Matsumoto works with the hitting coach

Takahashi Matsumoto modifies his swing after struggling at the plate during the last month. With improved mechanics and renewed confidence, he's ready to continue his ascent in the Cincinnati Reds farm system.

                1. First base gives you the best base power AFAIK. That's definitely the most common position for power hitters.
                2. Plate Vision is probably the 3rd most important like you mentioned. Batting Clutch and Plate Discipline would probably be next if you're just focused on hitting and less concerned with your fielding ability or speed, and you can ignore bunting completely if you're a power hitter.
                3. You CAN hit HRs with any of the hit buttons, especially if you have high power ratings. If you have low vision it may be tough to hit them with square unless you have the PCI perfectly placed.
                4. Oh yeah, and I'd recommend switching to Zone hitting, which uses the PCI. It may take a little time to get used to tracking the ball, but you'll get better the more you play. Or you can just pick a zone and keep your PCI there, and if the ball is there you swing, if it's not, you take. Unless you have 2 strikes, this can be a good method for a power hitter and should net you some bombs when you guess right and time it right.

Good luck! Hitting is a blast if you take the time to get good at it.

Started a new RTTS with seanjeezy's pitch edit roster as a catcher (was my high school position). I had a decent rookie showcase, only batted .250 with one extra base hit, 4 RBI's and two walks. However I did hit the ball hard in the majority of my at-bats and I was selected in the first round, 5th overall by the Chicago Cubs as a 18 year old catcher with a 57 overall and A potential. Very excited to start playing for the Tennessee Smokies (AA).

                        A couple questions please..SP

1.) When can you add a pitch?

2.) What is makeup used for when creating a player?

                        Thanks.

                          1. Anytime on the Training screen, press Triangle to add a new pitch (costs 300 training points).

                          2. Makeup controls some of the stats that aren't related to your specific pitches, like Pitching Clutch, H/9, K/9, etc.
