Is there a way to turn off the Homerun animation where you round the bases? It's sooo laggy and jerky during those handful of seconds.

Cutscenes and even things like a grounder to SS and the throw to first base can be so shaky. Hope this gets fixed. I just don't get why it can't be smooth. Come on RussellSCEA
It can't be smooth because they made the crowd so detailed. This most likely won't get fixed because that is a big task to work on, leave it for MLB 15 or 16. I don't actually think the games goes below 30fps which is what PS3 runs on, not sure how you lived with that if you can barely play this one.

I think the PS3 version runs at 60 FPS.. Most of the time anyway.
Do it. (Release The Show for PC)

Not true. There's cutscenes and gameplay that includes the crowd that runs fine. There's also cutscenes with nothing but a batter and catcher in with some dirt/grass and the framerate is awful.

Exactly, this is why this discussion has been so difficult. Some cutscenes run at 50-60 fps while others take a rather large performance hit.

But after playing the game for a while longer I've noticed it will also drop and "hitch" up during the actual gameplay, which others have also noticed. It can happen in specific moments, for example right after a ball is hit into play using the dynamic camera. But it can also happen randomly it seems.

Overall the game performs well during gameplay, I've seen only a few hitch-ups that have affected my play. Probably 95% of the performance issues I've seen have had no affect on gameplay (my button presses) such as cutscenes, foul balls, etc.

On the stream yesterday ramone said it was because the crowd was so detailed.

Didn't say if it would get fixed though

I have a hard time believing this is the actual reason for the cutscene framerate. It could be in some cases, but that is not the whole answer to the issue. As others have pointed out there are shots with the crowd in the background that seem to run fine. There are also other cutscenes where the crowd isn't even in the frame that chug.

The framerate in cutscenes has been poor on PS3 and on Vita as well, this is not a new thing exclusive to PS4 so the new crowd can't be the only thing held accountable.

Moreover it's plagued this franchise for years. It's interesting how this is the only sports gem that does it. I can't think I the other football, soccer or hockey games that have this. It's frustrating for sure.

That has ZERO to do with the issue that is in the game. The cutscenes are brutal due to choppiness of it. It is below 30fps and that is pretty much a lock to be true. if it was 30fps it would not be choppy. it is more like 24fps

Nobody is saying during gameplay but cutscenese are suppose to be something that enhances presentation but it just ruins it.

Also the hitch when you take a pitch but press down on the analog to start your swing but not swing. That hic up is in the ps3 version and is a joke it is on the ps4 version.

An extra month to fix it and it gets released with that and the horrible frame rate issue in cutscenes?

Come on now...Game is great but if there are real issues it needs to be said and not brush under the rug because we think the Show cant do wrong
To see this type of choppiness, I would say framerate gets down to the 10 range. I have a PC with FRAPS attached(A program that displays the framerate in the upper left corner) and I play a lot of Napoleon Total War. At times there a thousands of troops on the field, smoke haze wafting in the air, leaves and debris blowing past, full textured grass down to individual blades. So during a huge battle there can be lag when there is a huge melee battle with thousands of individual troops fighting hand to hand. Anyway, there can be a little slowing down of the animations in the 16 to 18 range, it doesn't get choppy until the 10 to 12 range. At 25 there is little noticeable change from 40 and at 40 there is really no noticeable change to 60. I honestly thing 30 in most cases would be just fine, but this is dropping to 10 to 12 from what I can tell.

I don't know if they can in the current version. I know PC developers can optimize things somehow. For example, Napoleon Total War would appear to be more graphic intensive than Empire due to the explosions, smoke, craters being created by exploding shells, etc. The units and buildings also look more detailed, but it runs smoother. I think they program it to take advantage of all the Processor power and graphic power. For example, PCs have had quad core technology for a while now. But games back in 2008/2009 were only using 1 or 2 cores. So the hardware wasn't being maximized. Perhaps the PS4 Show is really a straight port from the PS3 version and is trying to use the graphics of the PS4 but only utilizing the processor equivalent of whats in the PS3. That would definitely cause it to bottleneck and chug along.

Hey may have said that but I think he's bsing us. If it was the crowd only then it would only happen in close ups of the crowd. It happens all over. And there's no reason what so ever to have a detailed crowd hen you can use those res on what actually matters.

Yes, you are clearly much better versed in the design of the app than the developer of it.
