Re: MLB 15 : Road to the Show Thread

I have an issue. I hope someone can direct me to a thread with a possible answer or reply if they have an answer.

I used year-to-year saves to play as my RTTS player from 14. He was never a great hitter, but since moving him to 15, I can't get a base hit to save my life. I'm hitting .156 through the first month of the season and there appears to be no hope to stop the bleeding.

I used to use pure analog hitting but for 15 I had to switch to directional. I played a season in Franchise to get used to hitting with the new controls and I got fairly good at it. I even created a new RTTS hitter to try out the new controls too and he hits pretty solidly. I've also updated the sliders to represent the game changes for 15.

But for some reason my 14 save file can't hit. What's up?

I can't seem to get baseballs out of the park with my man aptly named Max Powers(Video proof of a rare home run here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH5Ky05v7pA). But I either single, strikeout, or walk these days, despite having 85[+15] power. I don't live and die with the power swing, because I seem to just pop out to the infield 80% of the time. But all of my home runs come during simmed games, which is annoying. I just want to hit a moonshot!

Oh yeah. How the bloody hell do I get more dingers? I use directional(badly), because zone is impossible for me, and Pure Analog is hell online when I play there

First of all, awesome video. A walk off homer to win the World Series, very cool!

I'm having the same problem as you, but maybe not to the same extent (I never draw walks unless they're intentional however ). I've been doing A LOT of batting practice and I've come to the conclusion that my swing is just a bit late and that I'm probably pressing the swing button for too long resulting in pop ups or high fly balls. When I tried to correct it I let go of the button too fast resulting in either check swings on strikes or weak ground balls. I don't get how this happened because I was doing just fine until the last 10 games or so, hitting a lot of no doubters, doubles and the occasional triple.

I've increased my Plate Vision to 90 (+7) and I'm gonna do some more batting practice and just try to relax when I swing but it's really hard when you have runners in scoring position and it's a tie game.

The immersion of this game is just insane. When you're at the plate it truly feels like you're playing for real and it's do or die. I love it.

Keys to hitting homers in this game are to get in positive counts, 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3-1, and hit pitches that are middle/up in the zone. Doesn't necessarily matter if you are early, late, or good timing.

As an aside, plate vision is extremely important part of your attribute, don't neglect it.

Yeah, my plate vision is at 99+(It's 82+26), and I manage to walk quite a lot with a .349 Average to .441 OBP and an ISO of .327. This games doesn't have things like BAPIP though. I think I'm gonna do a few Batting practice sessions though, try to get better with directional batting

Pitch count and pitch placement is of course very important but my recent inability to hit dingers had to do with button pressing, no doubt about it.

I played six games with my Cardinals SS last night, including Home Run Derby and the All Star Game (I'm in sync with the season now). It became very obvious during the HRD that I pressed the button too long. The HRD is like an exaggerated version of BP and everything I did wrong was magnified 10 times. Luckily, I managed to correct it in time to just barely get the win.

So how long you hold the button is related to how your swing works? I thought it was check swing and regular swing to be honest.

As far as I am aware, it is just check swing and regular swing. If you only tap the button, it is check, and if you hold the button down it is full swing. Its not like NBA games where you have timing to let off the button to hit a window where you shot is released or anything. As far as I know, the only window is when you commit your swing, which determines if your timing is good enough to make contact (also if your PCI is on the ball path too).

It is tap to check swing, and hit button for full swing. It isnt pressure or length sensitive.

I get frustrated doing the training at times. I'll have good time & I'm still fouling pitches off.

The bunts are out of control. Prince Fielder is bunting regularly against me & beating them out.

That's weird. I'm sure you're right but it really feels like if I press the swing button too long my guy pulls it really bad, and I'm talking waaay to the left of the foul pole.

Anyway, I'm back on track with my dingers. I hit two the other day against the Mets. The first was a solo shot and the second was a two run shot. I saved my progress after the game and when I chose "play next appearance" the Cardinals traded some AAA SP for Duda which was pretty cool because Matt Adams is not doing too well. However, I had to quit the game because a buddy was at the door. When I started the game again the trade never happened. Can't say that I'm surprised though.

It's rare that the trade wouldn't happen again. I've done it before to prevent trades & it just keeps happening.

I know the game keeps up with career numbers vs each team (for pitchers) but does it keep up with career stats vs individual players? I thought that it did but I might be mistaken.
