Sitting at the All-Star Break with a record of 45-45. But while the record is pretty bad, we are only 1 game behind the Pirates for first place in the Central. Hopefully we have a better 2nd half than first.

Really looking to add bullpen depth as our bullpen has let us down quite a bit in the first half of the season. Also looking to maybe add a LH bat for the outfield, although nothing has jumped out thus far in either case.

With 4 weeks left the division races were.
            Spoiler

We ended up tied for 1st with St Louis and Pittsburgh. Royals ended up tied with the Angels for a wildcard spot and had to play a game tie breaking as well. STL got a bye so the Pirates came to town for game 163. We won 6-5 thanks to 5 RBI from Lucroy including a Grand Slam. Game 164 didnt go so well. Fiers gave up 4 in the first. Came back strong though and his pitch count was in the 60's in the 6th before giving up the 5th run that put us away for good as we lost 5-4.

It wasn't what we wanted. But it was an interesting and entertaining run seeing as how we were 12 games under .500 at the trade deadline.

            MLB Standings
            Spoiler

            Offense

We werent that bad this year. The team was 5th in AVG, 11th in Runs, 1st in Doubles, 8th in Triples, 16th in HR, 15th in SB, 11th in SB%, 20th in Walks, 18th in Strikeouts, 8th in SLG% and 15th in OBP.

Hitter of the year goes to Jonathan Lucroy. 159 Games, .327/.382/.503, 20 HR, 85 RBI, 31 doubles. We got pretty much what we expected from everyone that is still on the team. Aramis Ramirez could have done a bit better while he was here. But he played well for San Francisco so he possibly would have done the same with us. Jean Segura could have been a better as well. But he was almost identical to 2014.

            Pitching

Pitching was alright. Got a lot better as the season went on. 13th in ERA, 11th in Shutouts, 10th in HR allowed, 6th in Strikeouts. The downfall of the team was blown saves. 30 all together. Most since Seattle and St Louis had 31 in 2008. If K-Rod is able to get just 1 more the season looks a lot different.

Starter of the year goes to Matt Garza. 24 Starts, 19 Quality Starts, 2.63 ERA, 1.28 WHIP. Reliever of the year goes to Corey Knebel, 60 Games, 58 IP, 1.86 ERA, 11.48 K/9. Kyle Lohse needed to be a lot better. Only 7 Quality starts in 20 games started before being moved to the pen. K-Rod. Man did he need to be better. 5.14 ERA in 56 IP. 26 saves with 9 blown saves. Lost his closer role and not sure what to even do with him at this point.

We beat the Phillies in our first game after the break, and are now tied with the Pirates for first place. I am still trying to decide if we need to make a move and if so what. Bullpen shaky but guys on market have asking price I'm not willing to pay.

Still have 2 weeks to decide.

Well, somehow got my Mets Franchise save back, but it was from like July, and I finished it. So, looks like I'm starting a new one!

Gotta get me that Cespedes now! :3

We resigned pretty much everyone. Kyle Lohse was the only exception. After his terrible year we decided to let him walk. Still a free agent as of now. Not much action in Free Agency either. A lot of guys resigned and the ones that didnt we already had players that were as good if not better. We did pick up Josh Johnson though. 3 Years 15 Million.

                  Spoiler

Starters were set heading into Spring. Back up Catcher, Infielder and Outfielder spots were up for grabs. As well as the Long Reliever role. Martin Maldonado beat out Juan Centeno for the catcher spot. Maldonado had 3 HR in 30 at bats. Centeno hit .255 in 51 at bats. Elian Herrera wont he back up IF spot. He hit .330/.372 in 88 at bats. Yadiel Rivera hit .302/.339 in 53 at bats. And Shane Peterson "won" the 4th OF spot. If you can call it winning. He hit .224/.296/.347 in 49 at bats. Logan Schafer hit .163/.178/.163 in 43 at bats. Really wanted to get Matt Clark on the team but needed a an other arm in the pen more than we needed a back up 1B. He hit .308/.377/
577 with 4 HR in 52 at bats.

We DFA'd RP Neal Cotts to get down to 25 guys. K-Rod will have a really short leash. Didnt have a good spring at all. If he does bad i wont hesitate to send him packing.

Let the 2016 season begin. Will play the first 5 games. Start a play 1 sim 3 until the All Star break. Then play the first 5 after the break and start the play 1 sim 3 again.

After the 1st month of the season I am 12-14 in my Tigers franchise. I made all the deadline deals so it's going to kill me. No Price, Soria, or Cespedes. Going to have to fight it out. It'll be a long season. Cabrera and Castallanos are hitting well for me. Rajai Davis is playing well too. My pitching has let me down and that'll be my main focus the rest of the season. May try and claim Bud Norris for the time being. The Astros also placed Scott Feldman on waivers so I might place a claim, but not sure yet.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

The Marlins are off to a nice start, but might be hitting their first up-and-down stretch of the season.

The team just got aced by Stephen Strasburg at Washington in a 1-0 loss to have the lead shrink to 2 1/2 games over the Nats (and 4 1/2 over 3rd place Philly). Rookie knuckleballer Moses Bartlett was the victim of the heartbreaking loss, giving up just 1 run in 7 innings.

The Marlins have lost three of their last four games and have been weaker on the road in general, falling to 11-8 versus 13-3 at home.

If the road inconsistency is truly a budding trend, May will not be kind to the Marlins as all but six games in the month are on the road. The end of May will particularly be tough with 16 consecutive games to end the month, 10 of them being on the road.

The team will have to manage this with some early injuries. Paco Rodriguez will be out for 3-4 weeks with shoulder tendonitis. Paco clutched his shoulder after throwing a slider and had to come out. Donovan Solano took a worse injury, fracturing his leg after being hit by a pitch. He will be out for up to 3 months.

Didi Gregorious makes a return visit to the big league club following Solano's injury. Gregorius was a trade acquisition a few years back but got push back with the emergence of Chris Taylor as well as Solano's defense flourishing.

Versatile defender Jose Campos will get the start at SS for the time being. Gregorius and Hechavarria are waiting in case skipper Don Mattingly might want Campos back on the bench for his tremendous depth capabilities.

John Stilson will get the ball as the closer. His first stint with the team, also a few years back, was not great, leading to the pick up of Paco Rodriguez and converting him to closer.

With Steve Delabar and Nate Jones back in AAA after struggling, the team claimed Leonel Campos from optional waivers from the Padres.

                      Notes:

-Matt Baldwin's slow start is growing more concerning. His batting average is just .228. While he does have 6 HR and a .446 slugging percentage, he's not the type of player that's apt to be productive with a batting average so low.

-Nori Aoki seemed like a useful pick up in the offseason, but so far, it's been a big mistake. Aoki is hitting like a pitcher with a .147 BA in 68 ABs - even worse...all the hits have been singles.

-Iwakuma, though, has proven successful so far. The 36-year-old veteran pitcher has shown new life with a 4-1, 2.19 ERA start.

-Moses Bartlett has been commanding his knuckler successfully in the early going. It's been dancing and landing for strikes, helping him off to a 4-2 start and a 2.54 ERA.

We took 2 out of 3 from the Phillies. But we are right now a game behind the Pirates and 5 out of the 2nd wildcard spot. We lost Michael Wacha to a head contusion and he is out 2-3 weeks. Going to try to get through this with playing the call up/spot start game, but we can't afford to get too far behind, especially in the wild card race.

Just curious.. Do you folks prefer playing all 162 or do you have a pattern of playing X number of games and simming Y number of games?

Would be interested in hearing how you guys play your franchises

                              Thanks!

                                I play all 162. I don't like simming games
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
