Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Well, thanks SCEA, your stupid fielding animations just cost me first place! Leading 8-7 on September 19th in the top of the 8th inning with runners on first and second and two outs, Jon Jay hit a routine fly ball to Denorfia out in left. Unfortunately, the game decided that he would misjudge the ball, and both runs ended up scoring on the error. I wound up losing in the 10th.

Up to that point, I had climbed back in it with a victory on getaway day in Pittsburgh, and with St. Louis losing to the Brew Crew later that night, the lead was down to 1.5 games. A win the next day against the Cardinals cut the lead to a half a game, but then the aforementioned scenario happened, and it's back to 1.5 games.

Sunday night, September 20th, is the next game. It'll be Kyle Hendricks (14-5, 3.58 ERA) going up against Michael Wacha (10-11, 3.21 ERA). Hopefully Chicago fans can have something to feel better about after Cutler throws four picks against the Arizona Cardinals that afternoon. If the Cubs win, they'll trail St. Louis by a half game. If they lose, it'll be tough to rebound from 2.5 games back with a mere 12 games remaining.
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

Traded every player I didn't need to get good young pitching. Will let Cueto walk and will try to trade Porcello (somebody, please take him!)
Damn nice season. Any tips on hitting and pitching?? lol

Late August (25th) and i have a 20 game lead on the division with the Marlins, and a magic number under 15. Three pitchers in contention for the Cy Young and one or two probably in line for the MVP.

Won the World series in year one (14) and am on my way hopefully to my second one. maybe even a rematch against the Rays once again. My goal with this franchise and i will see it through, is to have more world championships than the real life Yankees. that is the bar i have set for myself and i will achieve it.

How do you guys typically build your teams? What attributes or types of players do you target? How about scouting?

You have to make 2 different profiles. One is the one you usually use and then make another called "CPU"
When making the CPU one, go to mode specific options for franchise and set everything to Auto. After that just go into franchise and select all teams. Pick the one you want to play with and pick your user profile for that team, then make all the other teams the CPU profile. Hope that made sense lol, if you still need help I have no problem helping you out

It kinda depends on what you personally want. Me personally, I like players with high plate vision because this gives them a bigger PCI which in turn makes it easier to get the bat on the ball. I guy with high contact and plate vision usually hits for a really good average. As for scouting I scout all positions and find the guys I like. I really like when guys have good potentials and fast ETA's, so that way they can help out the ML team sooner.

Just split a 4 game series with the Astros. That now brings my record to 22-23 on the season. Once I get to mid June I'll have to figure it if I'll be selling at the deadline.

Miguel Cabrera is now up to 9 homeruns and 36 RBI's. VMart is at 8 homeruns and 28 RBI's.

In my last 2 starts Alfredo Simon and Drew Ver Hagen got blown up. Simon gave up 3 homers to Evan Gattis.

I made a small trade and swapped Rajai Davis to the Dbacks for Ender Inciarte.

Now headed on a long West Coast road trip with the start of a 3 game set in Oakland.

The lead is back down to a half a game after September 20th! The Cubs improved to 79-71, but it was not easy with the first-place Cardinals (79-70) in town. Kyle Hendricks did not have his best stuff on this night. Trailing 5-0 with only one out in the third, manager Joe Maddon decided to use his 40-man roster and brought in September call-up Dallas Beeler in relief.

And for once, the bullpen got the job done. They kept St. Louis off-balance, off-base, and off the scoreboard for the rest of the night. Beeler turned in 2.2 innings, Phil Coke pitched an inning and a third, James Russell chipped in an inning, hot prospect Joe Jimenez contributed two thirds of an inning, and Blake Parker got the win when he pitched the top of the ninth. None of these men allowed a single run.

Silent as the Cardinals' bats were, the Cubs would not mirror this. They took advantage of two St. Louis errors, and finally learned to lay off of Wacha's low changeups to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth. The Cardinal bullpen, however, matched the Cubs in this game.

That was until the bottom of the ninth. Carlos Gonzalez, who the Rockies dealt to me for Jon Lester, singled on a 3-2 changeup off of Carlos Villanueva to lead off the inning. Villanueva has been excellent all year against every team but the Cubs. Unfortunately, Gonzalez was injured at first when Villanueva spammed the pickoff move, but it looks like a minor injury. At this moment, I decided to put the speedy Matt Szczur at first in hopes of winning.

I could have put my grandmother at first, because Rizzo took Villanueva's next pitch deep to the bleachers to win it for the Cubbies 7-5. Now with the lead down to a half a game, the Cubs host the Brew Crew for a Monday night matchup. It'll be Matt Garza (10-8, 3.61 ERA) against Tsuyoshi Wada (6-4, 4.74 ERA). I'm worried because Wada was awful in his last start in Pittsburgh, giving up six runs in an inning and two thirds.

It'll be an interesting conclusion to the season.

No 30 team control, just my team. trades will be trades, teams will do whatever it is they will do whenever they do. they dont bother me at all. As far as scouting i just let them do what they want...

I started a franchise with the New York Yankees with the idea to rebuild them (yes I know they're playing well this year). I simulated all games the first three years (2015, 2016, 2017) while making trades and what not. I'm now in at June 28th, 2018 playing every sixth game. They Yanks are 42-37 led by superstars Masahiro Tanaka and Andrew McCutchen. We're 7 games behind the East leading Red Sox and in a three way tie for the top spot in the wild card race. The team:

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox
                          NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins, St. Louis Blues
NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors
College Sports: Pittsburgh Panthers, Penn State Nittany Lions

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

What an intense season! Although the series against Milwaukee did not start out well. After losing the first two that included another rotten start by Wada, Travis Wood came out firing on all cylinders on Wednesday night, September 23rd, as the Cubs kicked off Autumn with an 11-2 win. And much to their delight, St. Louis dropped two out of three against the Reds, so the lead after the series remained at a half a game.

The Cubs had an off day on the 24th, but St. Louis did not, so I tuned into that game. Suddenly I was the biggest Brewer fan, as they journeyed down to St. Louis for a four-game set against the Cardinals. Tied at five in the top of the eighth, with two outs and a man on, I jumped up cheering when Khris Davis took Randy Choate deep to left to give the Brewers a 7-5 lead. I jumped again when Francisco Rodriguez picked up his 38th save of the season, fanning Jon Jay with a man on.

So, now with nine games to go, the Cubs and Cardinals are tied at first with identical 80-73 records. Pittsburgh visits Wrigley for a 1:20 game that won't be easy with a struggling Jason Hammel (8-12, 4.82 ERA) taking the hill against Vance Worley (7-8, 2.40 ERA). The Cardinals once again host the Brewers, sending Michael Wacha (10-11, 3.36 ERA) against Jimmy Nelson (10-14, 3.89 ERA).

                              I love this game!

Funny because the Cubs and Cardinals had to go to a game 163 in my franchise to see who wins the division, and who plays in the Wild Card. St. Louis won, and Chicago lost in the Wild Card to the Mets.
