Can't believe I'm about to ask this guys.

How do you change the starter? I'm a bit overwhelmed with how much you can do in this game haha.

I have this rookie LF that's 18 years old and a 77 OVR i think. I want to player lock on him for the season, but I THINK I can only select from starters?

So I'm contemplating starting my franchise over. Its early on and I'm 8-8 with the Padres, however just lost Wil Myers for the season. Normally I play through injuries and call people up but this might be too much haha

MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Finally got around to starting my Blue Jays franchise. Simulated spring training and played opening day. I will be playing all 162. I manually set injuries for Sparkman, Schultz to the 60 day DL and Osuna, Howell and Pompey to the 10 day DL.

Barnes, Ceciliani all had putrid springs so they were DFA'd. James Loney was signed to a minor league deal as I don't expect to get much from Justin Smoak. He will start the year getting reps in AAA. Chris Couglan was added to the 40 man roster and was called up to start opening day with Goins demotion after hiring .139 in spring. He will backup OF, 2B and 3B.

The only major league signing was RP Luke Hochever who signed to a 2 year deal with a club option worth 2 mil per year. The Jays weren't happy with their bullpen depth and Hochever will provide mid/late inning relief for them.

In game 1 the Jays lost in a nail biter in walk off fashion, 5-4. Jones, Davis and Trumbo all went yard for Baltimore, while Martin and Pearce homered for Toronto.

If it's bothering you that much, can't you manually uninjure players in the same way you can manually injure them? In advanced general settings, turn injuries to manual, go to disabled list and manually remove the injury? I'd assume this would work, although I've never tried it, I've only added injuries but you can cancel them as well. Make sure you switch injuries back afterwards though or no one will ever get hurt again (unless that's what you're after)

Personally I love it when my players get hurt, forces me to actually have depth. Last year it pretty much never happened if you actually played the games, this year I've had a bunch of guys with day to day injuries, a couple of guys go to the 10 day DL and lost Mallex Smith for 3 months, all inside the first 2 weeks

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Now 2 weeks into my franchise playing 1 series a day though I suspect I wont be able to maintain that long hah. I play with quick counts using Armor & Sword sliders. SO far I have been pretty happy with my results currently sitting at 10-3. Last year I couldnt play every game because I just won too many games and it wasnt enjoyable. However this year I think it will be different.

              Series Results:
              vs SEA (3-1)
              vs KC (2-1)
              @SEA (2-1)
              @OAK (3-0)

              Division Standings:
              Astros 10-3
              Athletics 8-5 (2GB)
              Angels 8-5 (2GB)
              Rangers 4-8 (5.5GB)
              Mariners 4-9 (6GB)

              Batter Stats:
              Springer - .268/.339/.571 - 4 HR - 6 RBI
              Bregman - .279/.367/.419 - 1 HR - 2 RBI
              Altuve - .303/.452/.697 - 3 HR - 8 RBI - 3 SB
              Correa - .308/.362/.577 - 3 HR - 11 RBI - 3 SB
              Beltran - .327/.367/.836 - 9 HR - 23 RBI
              Reddick - .206/.270/.235
              Gurriel - .186/.205/.419 - 3 HR - 7 RBI
              McCann - .233/.324/.667 - 4 HR - 5 RBI
              Aoki - .342/.405/.447 - 1 HR - 3 RBI - 1 SB
              Gattis - .227/.346/.409 - 1 HR - 1 RBI
              Gonzalez - .344/.431/.594 - 2 HR - 5 RBI
              Marisnick - .190/.261/.190 - 1 RBI - 1 SB

Obviously the biggest surprise on this list has been Beltran I mean I expected him to do well but he is destroying the baseball right now despite his ratings decreasing rapidly. Im really hoping Reddick and Gurriel can get things going soon as they have just been awful. Gurriel was doing fine but the past 4 or so games he has really dropped off. Reddick has just been terrible all season.

I mean it seems to be a sure thing that he will at least hit .250 at some point but really going to need him to earn his money. He had only 1 hit in the first 7 games of the season.

              Pitcher Stats:
              Keuchel (2-0) - 2.18 ERA - 1.06 WHIP (20.2 IP)
              McCullers (2-0) - 2.70 ERA - 1.68 WHIP (16.2 IP)
              Fiers (2-0) - 2.60 ERA - 1.21 WHIP (17.1 IP)
              Morton (1-0) - 5.73 ERA - 1.27 WHIP (11.0 IP)
              Musgrove (0-1) - 8.00 ERA - 1.67 WHIP (9.0 IP)

              Peacock - 4.26 ERA - 1.42 WHIP (6.1 IP)
              Sipp - 1.59 ERA - 0.53 WHIP (5.2 IP)
              Feliz - 4.91 ERA - 1.09 WHIP (3.2 IP)
              Devenski - 2.61 ERA - 0.97 WHIP (10.1 IP)
              Gustave - 2.08 ERA - 1.62 WHIP - 1 HLD (4.1 IP)
              Harris - 1.69 ERA - 1.31 WHIP (5.1 IP)
              Gregerson - 3.38 ERA - 3.00 WHIP (2.2 IP)
              Giles - 1.42 ERA - 1.42 WHIP - 5/5 SV (6.1 IP)

Keuchel all but 1 of his runs have come off of home runs which were good pitches but just better hitting. McCullers had a rough first 2 games but had a great 3rd outing which lowered his ERA quite a bit. Fiers has been great but he is starting to normalize after his 3rd start.

Musgrove had a terrible first outing but a dominant second outing and Morton has just been pretty average. Morton and Musgrove are pretty much battling it out right now for that #5 job for when McHugh comes back. I plan to send Peacock down and one of them will hit the bullpen while the other will remain in the starting rotation.

If Peacock does well then I may just dump Morton if Musgrove is good enough to stay the #5 guy. And while its thinking way in the future Morton doesnt have a spot in our rotation going forward, I believe our 2018 rotation will be Keuchel-McCullers-McHugh-Martes-Musgrove with 3-5 being interchangeable.

All and all we have gotten off to a great start the pitching has carried the hitting when it needs to and the hitting has carried the pitching when it needs to. Assuming our 3-5 guys hold out I believe we are on path for a great season. We knew the offense would be there with the Astros now its just a question if the pitching will hold out.

They need to write for people that play Spring, that there is no extra innings. This is annoying. I want to play spring, but a majority of the games go to extra innings.

Hi guys. I will be posting about my Baltimore Orioles franchise. So far I'm sitting at 3-3. We have been mashing homeruns left and right but the pitching has been a struggle. So pretty much the real life Orioles. If it keeps happening I might need to adjust the sliders a little.

I will be posting about my Kansas City Royals franchise on this thread. I will be playing all 162 games without quick counts so every pitch of every game will be played. I am using the OSFM roster version 1.5 while using TNK v2.0 sliders on HOF hitting/pitching. I believe that these sliders give the most accurate real-life mlb stats and present a real challenge so it should be fun!

I had to place Gamel into LF to cover for an injury to Dyson from Spring training, he should be good to go for the Astros Series at home, so I'm running Gamel, Martin, Haniger right now. Motter has been fantastic for me as well albeit only a handful of games.

I won the first series against the Twins 2-1. Starting pitching has been reliable so far but the bullpen is a work in progress. All three games have been fairly low scoring but it's good to get out of Minnesota with a winning record to start out the year.

Next series is at the Astros and game 1 didn't disappoint. Had an amazing comeback with 2 outs and no men on in the 8th we ended up scoring 4 runs thanks to a walk followed by a Perez homer and some clutch base hits and a wild pitch to score the go ahead from 3rd. Soria and Herrera closed the deal with two shutout inning giving the Royals their 3rd win of the year.
