Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

First year of my Orioles Franchise. First 28 games I've gone 10-18. With 5 blown saves. I didn't trust my pitching at all in any circumstance. My offense couldn't produce anything more than 4 Runs.

I was reading directional hitting guide and still nothing. I hit my breaking point and start looking at possible trades "this season is a wash"

Friday night i decide to give it a couple more games before I start my fire sale. Welp game 1 vs the White Sox I lose 4-0 and James freaking Shields throws a complete game with 102 pitches. This lead me to call it a night and have a few alcoholic beverages.

Saturday Night I decide to add "Always Preview" for hot and cold zones. And I start using line drive hit and more contact swing. Well that has lead me to a 5 game win streak where in outscoring the White Sox and Nationals by 22-3. Nothing is making sense and I love it. Offense is churning and pitching has been incredible. Joey Ricard is batting like .800 in last 5 games after being nothing more than a defensive replacement.

Beating the Nationals 4-0 in bottom of 8th. They got a man on 2nd and 3rd. This always lead to disaster and me losing the game. In my head I'm like ok I'm fine with losing I've finally won 4 games. But then I bring in Miguel Castro and he sits the Nationals down and I win 4-0.

I don't know how I'm doing good right now. But it's fun to go from 6 game losing streak to 5 game winning streak. Lots of disaster happened in that losing streak that made me question why I play and after this weekend I know why. It's a fun grind.

      End of Season - 2018

Ended up simming basically the last whole month. Really wanted to get to 2019 and see how the guys we drafted did. We ended finishing 76-86. Tied with the Indians for 3rd in the division. The Twins went on a pretty good run after the break to finish at 89-73 and making the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Tigers were by far the best team in the AL all year finishing with 101 wins. Wasn't enough to to earn the best in baseball though as the Dodgers went 103-59. White Sox win the 1st pick in next years draft. They were the only team to lose 100 games going 59-103. None of that is the best part though. The AL East came all the way down to a game 163 and the Red Sox just gave it all away. They had a 1 game lead over the Orioles with 3 to play. Ended up getting swept by the Rays and and then lost game 163 after giving up a run in the 8th and 9th.

      Offensive Stats
      Spoiler

This was one of those seasons where I look at the stats at the end and wonder why the hell I let so many guys get everyday at bats. Then I think back and remember that there was no one else doing anything to earn those at bats. But I could have done better.

Bubba Starling and Franklin Guttierez were basically set up to fail this year. The plan going in was to platoon them against lefties. And then we faced like 3 lefties in the first month. So they never really could get into a rhythm.

Salvy, Gordon and Mondesi took pretty big steps back. Salvy had the lowest OBP of his career. Mondesi's AVG and OBP both dropped by 50+ points. I ended up sending Mondesi down to AAA halfway through August. Didnt get to spend a whole lot of time there but was pretty good hitting over .300. Really hope Salvy can get that OBP back over .300 next year. .260/.300/.450 with his defense wouldnt be bad at all. And this may be the end of Gordo. He still has 1 more year on his deal. But at 34 idk if he can have another bounce back season. Still great on defense as shown by him winning the Gold Glove this year. But his AVG and OBP both dropped by about 20 points. He hit 7 less HR despite playing in 28 more games than last season.

Hunter Dozier and Corey Toops were both pretty surprising. Dozier finished 2nd on the team in HR. Would have been 3rd if we didn't trade Moss. Struck out a lot though. Definitely solidified a spot on the team though. Same with Toops. He wasnt all that great when we called him up at the end of last year. But ended up leading the team in AVG and OBP. Defense is just abysmal. We knew it would be bad at 2nd and then he ended up having to play quite a bit of SS as well. I like his bat though so we will have to deal with the fielding. hopefully Mondesi can play well enough that Toops can stay at 2nd.

Whit, Cuthbert and Ruben Sosa were all very disappointing. I expected Sosa to do what Toops did and it just never happened. And it may be time to put an end to the Whit Merrifield era. He plays great down in AAA then cant do anything in the Majors. His only benefit is the ability to play 5 different positions. Same could be said for Cuthbert. Hasnt been able to reproduce what he did in his rookie year. He atleast has the benefit of being a bit younger. 25 compared to 29.

Moose wasnt as good as he was in 2017. But still the best player on the team by WAR. AVG went down 5 points. OBP went up 5 points. And then his SLG dropped almost 60 points. Still hit 29 HR and added 32 doubles.

Jorge Soler and Ryan O'Hearn werent great but atleast showed some promise. Soler was one of our best hitters over the last few months. Hopefully he can finally live up to some of his expectations next year. O'Hearn wasn't all that great outside of hitting HR. But man was he good at that. 13 HR in 48 games. He hit 45 total between AAA and MLB this year.

      Pitching stats
      Spoiler

We ended up finding a rotation that worked as the season came to an end. If we could have done that around the all star break we may have ended closer to .500. Bullpen overall was just not good enough either. Trading Herrera obviously hurt that but a couple guys in there didnt play as well as they should have either.

Duffy was obviously the star of the staff. 2nd straight season with a 2.44 ERA. He upped his K/9, Dropped his BB/9 and HR/6. And his FPI was a lot closer to his ERA this time at 2.59. The Cy Young is going to do to Sale despite him finishing with a 4.4 WAR. 2 lower than Duffy at 6.4. And a 2.81 ERA. Those 2 extra wins and 20 more strikeouts outweigh that apparently.

Did not expect Minor and Skoglund to do so well. Figured Minor would be about what he was last year with a 3.5 ERA. And didnt think Skoglund would be any better than a 4 ERA guy. His FIP is pretty close to that at 4.13 so we will have to see how he does next year.

Karns and Kennedy both finished with the same ERA at 3.95. About what i was hoping for from Kennedy. But he wasn't all that consistent in the process. Karns had some rough games over the 2nd half of the season. Thought he might have finally put it together after a 3.15 ERA last season but took a bit of a step back. Really needs to start going farther into games though. 2nd straight year starting 31 games and hasn't been above 155 innings.

Hammel was the biggest disappointment. Well maybe Vargas. He had a 3.59 ERA last season and ended up off the team before the end of June. Hammel ended with a 5.04 ERA. A full run and a half more than he had last season at 3.44. He couldnt have picked a worse time to do it either. 34 and in a contract year. No chance we bring him back.

As for the relievers, Brian Flynn and Seth Maness were about the only guys we could rely on. Maness was really good last season with a 1.69 ERA. So he wasnt to surprising. Brian Flynn was though. 7+ ERA last year with a 3.17 this year. Both should have a spot locked up for next season.

Matt Strahm is supposed to be THE guy now. He looked like that last year. No so much this year. Not really bad. But not great. There was a chance we would convert him back to a starter. But i think that ship has sailed at this point.

Jake Juni looked really good out of the pen in September. He will get a shot to be a starter in ST. If that doesn't work out he may earn a spot in the pen.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Holy ****, I literally have no words. I went into game 7 just hoping that Sonny Gray would be good enough to get into the late innings and give me a shot. I never thought my offense would completely vanish, I got pitches to hit but I did nothing with them. At one point Nelson Cruz got a hanging curve from Aaron Sanchez and it ended with a pop-up on the infield. Frustration was growing but I figured I did better then I imagined heading into the season so whatever happened, happened. Sonny Gray was pretty damn good though (5.2 IP, 1 ER, 0 Hits, 4 BB's, 5 K's) but I found myself down 1-0 without Toronto even mustering a hit. In the 5th I walked Tulowitzki to start the inning, Kendrys Morales then hit a dribbler to the left of the mound and after taking the easy out at first Tulo was on second. Jose Bautista was up with 1 out and the dreaded wild pitch happened allowing Tulo to scamper to third (I really wish they would fix the velocity at which the catcher throws to the base after a wild pitch, it's rather terrible development when they loft it down there when the runner is slow and should be out but every so often will gun it down there when the runner has speed so he's always safe anyways, seems a bit predetermined but I digress). Jose Bautista would ground out to second allowing Tulo to score and that's how they had a 1 run 0 hit stat line after 5 IP.

Behind the stellar performance of my bullpen (Drew Storen & Ryan Cook) I headed into the 9th down 1-0, Aaron Sanchez still on the mound trying to finish out a shutout, only 3 hits to show for my vaunted offense to that point with the very real idea that I could lose a game because of a wild pitch. I held Toronto to 1 hit, a Steve Pearce double that didn't cost me, and it felt like the deck was stacked against me. I led off the 9th with the batting champ Jarrod Dyson who finally got his first hit of the game on a single just over the leaping SS Tulo. Toronto would pull Sanchez and bring in the CP Roberto Osuna. A brief back story, Osuna had pitched 4 times against me (4.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 Hit, 5 K's 2 BB's) so to say I had had no success against him was an understatement. With nobody out and Dyson on second, Jean Segura at the plate, Osuna would strike me out when I chased a changeup low. Robinson Cano now up and he hit a weak grounder on the infield but it allowed Dyson to advance to third. So here I am with 2 outs, Dyson on first, Nelson Cruz up and my entire season comes down to this 1 AB. First pitch I chase a change and things are looking bad. Osuna busts me inside with a fastball that I take and it's 1-1. Then it happens, Osuna makes a mistake and leaves a fastball over the plate low, Cruz with his dead red quirk can mash fastballs if he gets a hold of one....and wouldn't you know it, Cruz hits a 2-run walkoff HR to left-center for the win and pushing us into the World Series where we will face Washington after they beat LA in 7 games.

I finally got the low scoring pitchers duel I had been hoping for all this time. It took 12 games in the playoffs to get it but that was so much more enjoyable then an 8-7 game with the same walkoff HR happening. Seeing as it was such a pitchers duel, here are a few pitching stats from the game...

        Sonny Gray - 5.2 IP, 1 ER, 0 Hits, 4 BB's, 5 K's
        Drew Storen - 1.1 IP, 0 ER, 1 Hit, 3 K's
        Ryan Cook - 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 Hits, 4 K's

        Aaron Sanchez - 8.0 IP, 4 Hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K's
        Roberto Osuna - 0.2 IP, 1 ER, 1 Hit, 1 K

I got no words, I thought for sure my season was over and Nelson Cruz bailed my offense out. My pitching had its best game of the post season when I needed it most and my best two regular season relievers came in and did their jobs better then I could have even imagined.

          Offseason + Spring Training - 2019

We were very quite this offseason. Coaching staff was all set. Had no one major up for free agency. Franklin Guttierez and Drew Butera are the only hitters no longer on the team. On the pitching side Jason Hammel and Joakim Soria both retired. Everyone else is still here. We only made a couple minor pickups in free agency to fill out the organization. While were were saving our money. Everyone else was out blowing it.
          • Tigers signed Zach Britton to a 9 year deal worth 83 million.
          • Blue Jays signed Paul Goldschmidt to a 10 year deal worth 246.5 million.
          • Blue Jays re-signed Josh Donaldson to an 8 year deal for 244 million. (where did all their money come from)
          • Cubs re-signed Anthony Rizzo for 126.68 million over 6 years.
          • Orioles re-signed Manny Machado to an 8 year deal worth 236 million.
          • Orioles signed Bryce Harper to a 7 year, 186.6 million dollar deal (WTF was Bryce thinking?)
          • Orioles signed Jose Quintana to a 4 year deal worth 49.3 million.
          • Yankees extended Aaron Judge, 7 years and 105 million.
          • Nationals signed Kelvin Herrera to a 5 year deal for 39.8 million.
          • Nationals signed Brian Dozier to a 4 year deal for 52.7 million.
          • Nationals signed Charlie Blackmon to a 2 year deal worth 26 million.
          • Dodgers re-signed Yasiel Puig to a 5 year deal for 93 million.
          • Dodgers signed Matt Harvey to a 5 year deal for 75.6 million.
          • Red Sox extended Mookie Betts, 4 years and 66 million.

Apparently a couple teams won the lottery or something.

So going into Spring Training there were a few position battles. The rotation was mostly set. Duffy was clearly a lock. Kennedy, Minor and Karns were basically locks. And Eric Skoglund had a major advantage over anyone else. Those 4 of those 5 did end up securing a spot. Mike Minor will start in the pen with Kyle Zimmer taking the 5th spot. Josh Staumont and Jake Junis were the other guys battling it out. Staumont had a 4.64 ERA in 21.1 IP and Junis had a 5.09 ERA in 23 IP.

There were 3 or 4 openings in the pen. Strahm and Maness were the only ones we had a good feeling would make it no matter what. And Brian Flynn would have had to give up 5 runs every time. And for the most part everyone did really well. Strahm and Flynn both gave up no runs in 8 IP. Maness gave up no runs in 7.1 IP. Kevin McCarthy was amazing. No runs in 16.2 IP. And Yender Caramo gave up just 2 runs in 15.1 IP. Last spot went to Chris Withrow who gave up 7 runs in 20 IP for a 3.15 ERA. Scott Alexander was the only one who really did bad. 11 ERA in 18 IP. Eric Stout just missed out giving up a 3.68 ERA in 22 IP.

Offense had a lot more openings. Moose, Salvy and Gordo were the only guys who were guaranteed a spot. For everyone else it was either show up or go home. And it sure seemed to work for some guys. Others not so much.
          • SS - Raul Mondesi is the most surprising player not breaking with the team. He hit .203/.242/.254. He will start the season down in AAA. Taking his spot will be Ramon Torres. In 47 at bats he hit .362/.426/.447.
          • 1B/DH - Ryan O'Hearn will also need to work his way back up. He did tie for the team lead in HR with 5. But hit .200/.257/.431 while doing so. Sorta kinda taking his spot is Peter O'Brien. The plan was to have them platoon there. But O'Brien hit .333 off of RHP and .346 off of LHP so he will start off with everyday at bats. Overall he hit .340/.407/.585 with 3 HR.

          • C - Cam Gallagher lost out on the backup catcher spot to Meibrys Viloria. Cam only had 1 hit in his 12 at bats before we decided to send him down. Viloria hit .291/.339/.418 in 55 at bats.

          • 2B - Corey Toups had a strong hold on 2nd after his performance last year. And he ended up beating out Josh Rutledge for the spot. Rutledge was picked after spring last season and played pretty well in the minors all year. He only hit .205 in 44 at bats this ST though.

          • OF - CF and RF were both up for grabs. And there were a bunch of guys fighting for them. Terrance Gore, Billy Burns, Mark Springer (2017 draft), Bubba Starling, Ruben Sosa, Jorge Soler Paulo Orlando and Jorge Bonifacio were all in the mix. Gore ended up getting sent down early. Had 1 hit in 12 at bats. Springer followed him not to long after. He hit .062 in 16 at bats. Billy Burns followed after hitting .160 in 25 at bats. And last to go down was Orlando and Bonifacio. Orlando hit .208 in 48 at bats. Bonifacio wasnt all that bad. hit .244 in 45 at bats with a .306 OBP. He actually out performed Jorge Soler who hit .230/.288 but I decided Soler needed a legit chance to make an impact. So CF and RF go to a combination of Soler, Starling and Sosa.

          • And Whit Merrifield beat out Christian Adames and everyone else sent down for the backup IF spot. He hit .352/.397/.519 in 54 at bats. This is his last shot. If it doesnt work out he has to go.

So with all of that here is how the organization looks heading into 2019.

A bit surprised we have no one in the top 50. Thought Mariano Parra and Mark Springer would be on there for sure. Parra is 23 years old and 72 overall. Springer 21 and 73.

Start of the season is a lot like last year. Only 20 games in April. 17 are against a team in the division. 11 at home 9 on the road. No idea how this team is gonna do. I Don't think we are all that much worse than last year. But dont think we are really going to contend for anything.

May was not kind to our team. We lost Dee Gordon early on in the month and at June 6th he still has around a month until he is projected to come back. Justin Bour and Ivan Nova have been on and off the DL or at least injured list two times a piece in the month of May alone. Our biggest injury however is Christian Yelich who is out for the remainder of the season (6+) Months after he dislocated his ankle mid may. Yelich is a heck of a player and we certainly will miss him as the season goes along. Since our last update we have barely been over .500 at 19-15. Luckily.we still have a 4 game lead in the division but I believe we will have to play better to keep that lead.

Well we are certainly glad we picked Davis up last off-season now. Although not as good as Yelich he hasn't been bad leading off and playing center. He will likely stay in this position until Gordon comes back as long as he keeps the average up.

            2. J.T. Realmuto C 80 OVR
            .281 AVG/4 HR/21 RBI/ 1 SB

Ole Realmuto has moved back to his batting order position from last year after starting the year off batting 8th. He will probably be moved down again once Gordon comes back but he is doing well batting at #2 For now.

            3.Giancarlo Stanton RF 93 OVR
            .296 AVG/16 HR/44 RBI

Stanton's average dropped since April but that's kind of expected. His power numbers continue to impress and as long as he doesn't strike out.....we can usually count on him to knock in guys in scoring position.

4.Jung Ho Kang SS 83 OVR
            .301 AVG/24 HR/52 RBI

Over 50 RBI'S and we have just started June. Can't ask for much more, although, his batting average has dropped significantly

As mentioned earliern he has had trouble staying healthy. His average has also dipped as of late. Even with that if he can stay healthy he will remain our everyday 1B

            6. Marcell Ozuna LF 83 OVR
            .309 AVG/7 HR/26 RBI

Good month for him. He is one of the view who brought his average up significantly. He has also escaped the injury bug. Hopefully he can keep holding down the middle of.our lineup.

Finally got the nod as our starter at third after Franco continued to be terrible. He has played pretty well after starting off slow. He is one of my favorite players but I think he serves a good purpose coming off the bench as well.

            Phil Gosselin 2B 77 OVR
            .327 AVG/3 HR/16 RBI/2 SB

Gosselin has been great since taking over at second. He too serves the team well coming off the bench. But we are lucky to have him starting while Dee is out.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Waiting for the updated OSFM & the OSFM hybrid to come out and see which one I start a franchise with. Will be playing as the Mariners.

I know my opening day roster will be the following:

              Lineup:
              1) SS Jean Segura
              2) LF Ben Gamel
              3) 2B Robinson Cano
              4) DH Nelson Cruz
              5) 3B Kyle Seager
              6) 1B Danny Valencia
              7) RF Mitch Haniger
              8) C Mike Zunino
              9) CF Jarrod Dyson

Bench will be C Carlos Ruiz, OF Guillermo Heredia, and UTL Taylor Motter.

              Rotation:
              1) Felix Hernandez
              2) James Paxton
              3) Hisashi Iwakuma
              4) Ariel Miranda
              5) Yovani Gallardo
(Drew Smyly & Ryan Cook will miss the entire 2017 season)

              Bullpen:
              CL Edwin Diaz
              SU Nick Vincent
              RP Steve Cishek
              RP James Pazos
              RP Mark Rzepczynski
              RP Tony Zych
              RP Dan Altavilla
              RP Evan Scribner
(Might move Gallardo into a LR role if he struggles)

I will have all players who are out for the season manually injured to miss the 2017 season but once the 2018 season begins everyone will be healthy again. This means no Smyly, Adam Eaton, Shelby Miller, Julio Urias, etc. I have a list of everyone, including minor league players that are gonna miss the entire 2017 season. I will manually injure them and then turn injuries back to default (on).

My personal goal is to make the playoffs by year 2 (2018), and obviously win a world series at some point before my core all retires/leaves (Felix, Pax, Kuma, Cano, Cruz, Seager, Segura).

                  2023 Miami Marlins Postseason

Divisional Series vs Cubs: The 92-70 Marlins and 89-73 Cubs squared off in the initial NLDS matchup and man... things did not look pretty after Game #1. Miami led 3-2 in the top of the 6th when a costly gaff by Giancarlo Stanton in the outfield led to the Cubs roaring back and eventually holding on to win 6-3. Thankfully that did not end up mattering too much. Trailing 1-2 in the bottom of the 8th, none other than Ronald Guzman hit a clutch bomb to put the Marlins ahead, a lead they would wind up holding onto. In Game #3, the Marlins held on to become victorious 5-2 with Jonathan Dailey out in left driving in 3 of those runs, and finally on the road in Game #5 it was a simply dazzling pitching effort by Felix Hernandez. He had a no-hitter through 7 innings that was broken up by Jason Heyward in the top of the 8th. Miami won 5-3 and eliminated the defending 2022 World Series Champions. Meanwhile, the Dodgers who trailed the Giants 0-2 came soaring back and upset them in 5 games to advance for a sure to be legendary NLCS showdown.

Championship Series vs Dodgers: Miami was in full control over the Dodgers in Game #1. Jean Segura in particular came through as a hero with a big 2-run homer in the 5th. While Kelvin Herrera did allow 3 runs in the 9th to make things a bit antsy, the Marlins won 5-3. Game #2 saw a lack of offensive assistance for Lance McCullers damage Miami dearly, solo bombs by Yelich/Stanton weren't enough and the Dodgers won 3-2. Game #3 saw Miami blow the doors off LA after trailing 1-4 entering the 6th. The likes of Rush, Guzman, Segura, Boggs, and even Lucas Herbet all came through with clutch to run off 6 in the 6th and eventually win 9-5. But as per predicted, the Dodgers would come right back blowing the doors off King Felix with a 7-run 2nd inning that would lead to a 10-5 victory. Game #5 would be the biggest showdown of all... in LA, winner in all likelihood takes this series. It was Mendez vs Fleming. The Dodgers got a run on a Jorge Soler single, while Miami's sole run came off a Guzman solo bomb in the 5th. We entered the 8th when with 2 outs in the inning, Jonathan "Double" Dailey came through clutch with a big 2-bagger! It was followed by Jean Segura getting a double himself to bring him on home. 2-1 lead Miami! The Dodgers would not go down silently. In the bottom of the 9th, they had the bags loaded with just 1 out in the inning. All they needed was one... Charlie Culberson their 3rd baseman struckout! Closer Kelvin Herrera just needed one more, Andrew Toles 99 contact vs righties.... hits a shot to 3rd, Doug Boggs has it, he guns it out to 1st and Miami wins! Miami wins! They take a pivotal Game #5 victory that would eventually lead to them dethroning the Dodgers in 6 as they won 5-1 at home with a fantastic Braxton Garrett pitching effort as well a 2-run homer by Stanton. Beat LA had been accomplished, and now the Marlins advanced to their 4th World Series in franchise history!

Just for a little recap on how everything went... Dodgers beat Mets in NL Wildcard, Miami beat Cubbies in 5, Dodgers come back from down 0-2 to beat Giants in other NLDS, and then Miami wins in 6 over LA. Out in the American League, the Rangers beat the Yankees in the AL Wildcard. The Angels defeat the Tigers in 5 games in the ALDS, and the Rangers sweep the Red Sox in the other ALDS. In the ALCS, the series was tied at 2-2 between the Angels and Rangers before dominating efforts by LA over-whelmed Texas and they advanced back to the World Series, a place they hadn't been since 2018 when they defeated the Chicago Cubs to win Mike Trout his first title. For an idea on the team out in LA, you're talking about Mike Trout, Carlos Correa, Marcel Ozuna, other guys like Bryant Davis, Matt Thais, and a young pitching core led by AL Cy Young Winner, Shelby Miller. Ozuna facing his old team. Marlins looking to become World Champs again. Who would win? Let's take a look.

Game #1: The biggest thrilling affair... the Angels got their run early on off the back of a single by 2B Bryant Davis. Miami also got one thanks to Doug Boggs on a sacrifice groundout. Things would remain tied all the way until the 16th. The Marlins DRAINED their bullpen to make it that far. Garrett pitched 7, Savage pitched 0.2, Kela pitched 1.1, Jimenez pitched 1, Costello pitched 2, Feliz pitched 3, and eventually Kelvin Herrera would be the one who allowed 2 runs to Lamonte Wade with the bases loaded and 2 outs. A truly ball-busting concede... Jim Andrade replaced him and got the last out. Miami trailed 3-1, but they didn't give up the fight. Boggs got on and scored following a monster hit by none other than Jim Andrade with 2 outs. Then it was followed by a single by Jonathan Dailey! Runners on 1st and 2nd, 2 outs, down by 1 with Jean Segura coming up... IT'S A SHOT UP THE MIDDLE TO CENTER FIELD! MIAMI IS SENDING ANDRADE HOME! TROUT GUNS IT TO MAHLE ON THE MOUND TO COLLINS AT THE PLATE AND HE IS OUT! INCREDIBLE! How could the Marlins send a PITCHER when you could have had the bases loaded with Stanton coming up? But it was such a close play... but slow pitcher vs Trout's arm... ugh...

Game #2: The next game saw more of Miami's crumbling offense fall apart. Shelby Miller was simply spectacular going 7 innings allowing just 5 hits, 1 walk, 1 run, and collecting 7 strikeouts. McCullers allowed 3 runs and the Angels got another off Andrade... they would never admit it but you could tell that stinging loss from Game #1 was having lasting affects. Through 25 innings in this World Series the Marlins had managed to produce just 3 runs thus far.

Game #3: This was the one the Marlins needed. They simply had to have this one. Things started looking bleak despite a strong Nunez outing due to the fact Miami was trailing 1-2 entering the top of the 8th. That all changed when Giancarlo Stanton went YARD. Tied ballgame! An out and double by Boggs who advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch eventually led him to scoring on a single by Jean Segura! 3-2 Marlins lead! All they needed to do was hold on... Juan Jimenez would pitch the bottom of the 8th. He allows a single to Bryant Davis to lead things off... okay not good especially since Mike Trout is next but don't worry. What could go wrong? Oh wait... you just left a fat changeup hanging over the center of the zone to potentially the best all-around baseball player since Babe Ruth? Yeah... that's not gonna end well. Trout crushed the ball out to straight deep center field. 4-3 Angels. Game Over. Season Over. Marlins crushed emotionally. They had Kurt Rush on 3rd with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, and they simply couldn't bring him around to score. Angels lead 3-0.

There would be no miracle comeback for Miami. Felix Hernandez looked more like he did vs the Dodgers than he did vs the Cubs. The Venezuelan superstar had finally met his match... Father Time. He went 5.1 innings, allowed 7 hits, 3 walks, 7 runs, and struckout 5. Miami's offense only scored 3 runs. The season ended with not a bang, but a whimper. Maybe the Marlins got too obsessed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and once they conquered them it was almost as if even the World Series was a letdown. Maybe that Game #1 loss in 16 innings devastated and depleted the team far too much. OR Maybe leaving a changeup hanging in the zone to Mike Trout up 3-2 in the 8th inning is something you simply cannot do... the Marlins are pissed. This was supposed to be their moment. 2nd World Series in 4 years. It was supposed to be the Cinderella ending for Felix. Another notch in Stanton's belt. Instead, it ends in shame... damn man.

Started a 30 team franchise and I am going to do something very unique than I have done before.

First off the rosters used are my own rosters (seen in roster section) that use OSFM 1.75 as a base. With pdated SCEA roster attributes and MOST CAPS are imported up to the 6/30 roster update. My personal sliders are being used as well, which are posted in the slider forum as well.

As my favorite, the Indians I will for every game of theirs sim it last separately to see if there is a critical situation to pop up.

Every week I will also play one full series at random. To begin this franchise I will play as the Yankees in the opening series @ Tampa Bay. What I will do is only post three pics of each game of the series and briefly talk about the series.

I just finished game two of the series, no critical situation popped up for game 1 or game 2 for the Indians (we won 5-2, and 8-5).

Will play game three of opening Yankees series (won first two), as I go for the sweep. Then will post box score pics of each game of the series.

Opening series playing as the Yankees on the road against Tampa Bay! Box scores below. Game two, Aaron Judge blast three homeruns to lead a come back victory and win in extra innings.

Catcher Gary Sanchez dislocated his finger early in the game, out for 1-2 months and on 10 day DL currently. After examining the Yankees roster they have no one even half decent to bring up.

So I signed A.J. Pierzynski for one year 3.1mil. Didn't seem too bad or unrealistic at all! This probably means Romine will be sent to AAA when Sanchez returns. Funny thing is Pierzynski hit a 2 run homer in his first ab lol.

Game three the Rays beat us with the extra base hits and two homeruns. I had 10 hits...had bases loaded with 1 out in the 5th or 6th inning and failed to score. Tacked on one run in the 8th but Colome closed me out in the 9th.

                        Chatwood vs Friedrich game 2

Finished three game series against the Padres playing as the Rockies. I swept them at home forcing their record to 0-10 to start the season! The Rockies improve to .500 with a 5-5 record.

My Indians who I have been playing any and all critical moments are an amazing 8-0 to start the year. I've played critical moments in three of those eight games so far.

Here are the box scores for the series I just played as Colorado. Trevor Story was red hot the first two games going 5 for 7 two homeruns and 6 rbis! Had a rest day on the series finale however.

Just finished my season. I won the NL Central by 2 games with the Cubs. I take on the Washington Nationals in the NLDS.

Played games 1 & 2 of the World Series last night. I couldn't get a pitchers duel to save my life over the first 11 games of the playoffs, then suddenly it switched and the last 3 games have been nothing but pitchers duels.

Game 1 - Pitching matchup was Scherzer vs Paxton, not an ideal matchup for me as Paxton struggles with control and things can get ugly in a hurry if he can't locate anything. I faced Scherzer once during the regular season and had some decent success off him but it was more due to HR's and not a sustained attack offensively. The game was being played in Washington so no DH so decided to take the gamble and play Nelson Cruz in LF sliding Leonys Martin to the bench thinking I'd need the offense.

Well the Nelson Cruz in LF experiment has ended, he committed one error and then dropped another lazy fly ball but wasn't charged with an error only because he was able to throw the runner out at third. He did nothing offensively to top it off so it was a complete waste. Paxton did pitch well however, going 6 IP and giving up only 1 ER (2 R thanks to the Cruz error) but he kept us in the game. It was 2-2 with a runner on first when Morneau came to the plate (according to the game he owns Scherzer to the tune of 8/17 career) when he belted a 2-run HR to give me a 4-2 lead in the 7th inning. The bullpen would do it's job getting the game to Diaz, while surrendering yet another run, would perserve the win, 4-3, and a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2 - Smyly vs Strasburg. I was more nervous about the one as at least Paxton has velocity to make up for lack of control at times, Smyly does not have that luxury. Well Smyly pitched a gem, 7.1 IP and only giving up 2 ER. Strasburg would equal him however only giving up 2 ER over 7 IP himself. In the bottom of the 9th, still tied 2-2, Rubby De La Rosa served up a walkoff solo HR to Anthony Rendon to end the game 3-2 and tie the series at 1.

Heading back to Seattle for 3 games and the pitching matchup for game 3 will be Felix Hernandez vs Tanner Roark. If there was ever a time I needed Felix to step up it would be this game so we don't immediately give homefield right back to Washington.

Hitting wise Robinson Cano has literally been an absolute dog these playoffs with an average hovering around .210 and if there is a runner on he's guaranteed to either pop it up, hit a lazy fly ball or a dribbler back to the pitcher. Mitch Haniger on the other hand has been a beast, hit a HR off Scherzer in game 1 and had a 2-run double off Strasburg in game 2. Jean Segura has suddenly found his stroke as well after struggling down the stretch to finish the season. Not to be forgotten, Kyle Seager is raking still carrying over his regular season success to the playoffs hitting a HR off Scherzer and 2 doubles off Strasburg.

I'm setup pretty nicely, Felix and Sonny Gray for games 3 & 4 and then Paxton is back on the mound for game 5. I've got Iwakuma in the bullpen if needed and both Ryan Cook and Storen have pitched well as of late to provide a stopper when necessary. The biggest worry now is Diaz, he's pitched twice in the playoffs and he blew the save the first time but got the win and gave up another run the second time but thankfully we were up 2. He was very dependable during the regular season but suddenly that has all changed and he's struggled in the playoffs.

Chef, do you see any issues with SP stamina in the playoffs? Are you using a 4 man rotation? Is the CPU?
