Since I turned HDR off, game looks better, I haven't went back in to mess with it, maybe I will. I'm cool with it off for now

Don't enter the 10 pt settings unless you have tools, professional calibration knowledge, and about a 1/2 hour per pt of time to use haha. Those should not change things majorly, and barely anything in there should change to the eye.

Just remember that the point though is for white to look like white and black to look like black. Most other colors will follow if Color Space is on Auto. If not, try Native. If not, then go to Custom and be very careful what you adjust in those six colors (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Cyan, Magenta).

Does it look more natural with it off? And do you still get the detailing as well?

          No problem.

Excuse me, I have offset and gain reversed in the post. Just a mistake in typing, was thinking about the Giants game I was watching when I typed it. Check my edited post for the right way.

If the settings are off it might look more natural. However, with HDR properly working and tuned, you won't get anything looking better or more realistic.

HDR lighting, colors are just awesome. Really wish they could patch a calibration for people so everyone can enjoy the setting.

Yea and I have it on and it looks amazing but as soon as I press pause to look up something in the menu it goes super bright and it kills it.

For those who have the Samsung KS8000, I disabled game mode, went into movie mode. Started the game up in enhanced. Raised color to 55 and dynamic contrast to high. Awesome picture and surprisingly lag wasn't an issue. I think for HDR to work as intended, you shouldn't use game mode. I can't speak for other televisions though. But for this Samsung, the game was very playable when not in game mode. And when in movie mode, you'll notice the picture is dark with DC off. But as you turn it up, picture becomes brighter and not unnatural at all. But with game mode on, picture is better with DC off. So try playing with game mode off and DC on med/high and see if it's to your liking.

I don't seem to be having any issues with the ks8000 in game mode hdr wise.

Interested to see more feedback about this

Maybe...just maybe having game mode turned on triggers something

I've been playing with HDR off and don't want to mess with anything right now, but if more people say they notice a difference by going into HDR from a setting other than game mode....then I'll be happy to try it

It's a bit confusing, but basically the tv is telling you to apply those settings to all sources set in game mode, so as long as your stb hdmi port is not in game mode, you can have different settings to watch tv.

It should only do that if you change something. Is it happening just by pausing?

I have always been big on graphics and was playing on 4k for the first half of my RTTS season. Switched to frame-rate mode and was simply blown away. Not a single hiccup or hitch at all even in transitions. I hate to sacrifice the 4k but honestly with the play so so so butter smooth I don't know if I can switch it back.

MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro

So did a few hours of testing HDR on my Sony 43x800D last night. I need to do more testing to figure out the sweet spot on two settings. Namely, the HDR Intensity in the game and the Contrast setting on the TV itself.

I have tried the HDR setting at 0, 25, 50 and 100. The game looks best somewhere between 25-50. I then tried playing around with the different settings in the Contrast Enhancer (Dynamic Contrast if you will) as well as the Live Color. Right from the get go, I think the Live Color should be off. Yes it increases the "pop"...But artificially so. Just my opinion and more on this later.

I also used all four settings on Contrast Enhancer, really three because Off and Low are almost indistinguishable. If I HAD to use one, I'd use Medium. However, you will definitely start losing detail in the dark parts and especially in the brightest parts of the screen. To me not worth it.

I then put everything back to default for HDR and started playing around with the Contrast. I found at 90 the screen is a little on the dull side. On 100, it's overkill. Night games look like day games. The sweet spot is somewhere in between. I tested this on HDR Intensity of 50 in game.

I have a feeling the sweet spot for HDR Intensity is somewhere in the 20's or 30's (based on one of the devs nit calculations, saying 1000 nits should be set to 3/4 full for HDR Intensity) and then Constrast somewhere in the 92-97 range. I will play around with this tonight but even at 50 HDR and Contrast of 93 last night, the image looked remarkably better than before. This setting actually re-introduced some of that colour pop without making the image look fake.

Anyone with this TV I would strongly encourage you not to mess around with any artificial processing such as Live Color or Contrast Enhancer. Instead, focus on HDR Intensity and the base Contrast setting.

I also obviously restarted the game from the dashboard any time I made a change. Tedious to say the least but I refuse to think the HDR in this game can't be a game-changer to some degree after it very much was in Horizon.

Yea I would have it set to enhanced visuals with the intensity around 50 and it looks good but when I pause the game and go back into it it gets a lot brighter and almost looks washed out.
