Thanks to beekay we now have a little bit more accurate look at prospects. Basically from everyone that is helping add $6 million. So the top top prospects are worth $81 million.

Can you PM that to me as well? If I’m adding the Surplus formula to the log, this might be helpful.

Longtime lurker but just created an account recently to join in on the fun.

Going to start an SF Giants rebuild project, but had a question about Posey. Since he is getting up there, and getting closer to moving to 1B, how would you rate his Surplus as a 1B for trade? I can trade him as a catcher but wondering if he would be more valuable as a hitting 1B which would keep his legs a littler fresher for hitting.

I am also curious how you are getting Prospect Projected WAR, I was using the 60/30/10 rule, but it seem that is not what the rest of you are using. If you don’t want to share the website, then would it be possible to add another tab to the Sheet with Projected Value of some of the top Prospects so people have a quick reference for it. Prospects like Acuna, Torres, Shohei, Brinson, etc.

Hey there, glad you decided to join!

So, even though Posey might be getting up there in age he is way more valuable as a catcher. He is one if the premier players of the game still because of how good he is defensively as well as with the bat.

Until he shows us he is really slowing down I think it isn't out if thus world he keeps producing 15 WAR on average over three years.

Posey has a surplus of ~$106.5 million so he is her valuable still.

The "best" way I have found is to average the last 3 years as well as the 3 prior to that and average them out. That's of course for a veteran.

The games logic is broken. Kind of the reason why this thread was created years and years ago.

Awesome thanks for the info and the welcome! I normally play as my hometown Red Sox’s but they are pretty set in Franchise this year, so decided to take on the SF Giants for a challenge. As much as I don’t want to trade Posey or Bumgarner, I have to look at all options on the table to get some prospects in. The team is just soo old.

Also forgot to ask, do you guys take in Contract/Budget of teams when looking at if the trade is reasonable or not? I am going to be playing my franchise with Budgets Off, but also want to kinda keep it realistic in regards to budget concerns.

I know the angels would never trade otani but i hate seeing him not hit in the american league. Any team like the braves could pull off a trade?

We do to an extent. It’s a bit difficult as there is no official budget for each team. Obviously we know of those teams that tend to spend more and those with smaller budgets but we can’t work from anything official. We try to be conscious of what each team already has on the payroll before making a decision on if a team could realistically bring on a trade or free agent.

Otani is hard because as you said, there isn’t a realistic scenario in which Otani is traded in the next 3-4 years. And contrary to what you’re saying, Otani (in real life) benefits mostly from being on an AL Team in the DH Role. If we’re defying that reality, Otani is probably amongst the most expensive to acquire. I almost think that deal starts with Acuna but I don’t want to navigate that road when I can’t sit down and look at values.

I would like to know the value of a few lefty relievers-

                            Xavier Cedeño CHW
                            James Pazos SEA
                            Rex Brothers ATL
                            Grant Dayton ATL

                            Thanks

I struggle with a few surpluses and since I am a Yankees fan I do not want to be biased when giving values.
Gary Sanchez. I came up with 190 million
Aaron Judge. I came up with 320 million
Luis Severino. I came up with 150 million
Jordan Montgomery. I came up with 132 million
