Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

I'm 3-2 with the Cubs. Really having a tough time hitting. Only have 1 home run in 5 games and hitting like .228 as a team. Almora and Heyward are the only I have had success with but I have been drawing a good amount of walks. I lost the opening series to the rangers but bounced back and the first two against the Braves (0-5) and going for the sweep.

Felt good with my sliders and Cujo Matty’s roster (really, really good stuff man!) so I went ahead and opened up my Braves franchise.

In the bottom of the first I grooved a curve and Harper hit a two run jack in his first AB as a Philly. But in the top of the second Acuña hit a ball to the exact same shot.

He is so. Much. Fun. He finished with a 5-5 day, including a double and 3 RBI. I was able to work counts against Nola and chased him after 6. I didn’t feel like it was too easy, I really earned a five run lead.

Then I got cheeky and managed with a 5-run lead and had to close it with the tying run at the plate to put out a small fire, but I got the win and felt super good about it.

Usually I don’t do franchises of my favorite team but they Braves were too fun and interesting to turn down. One game in and that appears to be right.

Well my first game with The Show 19 didn’t go how I wanted. My 2019 carry over Dodgers fall to 31-22 as Josh Fields comes in to pitch in the 8th and gives up a 2 run triple to take the L. We now hold a 5 game lead over the Giants in the West.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

My initial plan for my first run at Franchise this year - rolled over a a newly started chise in 18 that has updated contracts, player movements, but also includes a roster with the Top 100 or so prospects. (Looked pretty good to me with brief glance over - )

I simmed all of "2018" and plan on playing the playoffs through with the Yankees, before starting out the next season by mostly controlling the Marlins. (Love the updated logo/unis).

            Playoffs are pretty interesting:

Yankees and Cardinals were each the 1 seeds. Yankees finished 102-60, Cards 99-63

Wild Card games: LAA (94-68) vs. Boston (93-69), Washington (90-72) vs. Cubs (91-71)

LAA beat Boston, Cubs beat the Nats (sorry Washington!)

            ALDS:
            Cleveland vs. Houston
            NYY vs. LAA

            NLDS:
            Phillies vs. LAD
            Cubs vs. Cardinals

Played the first ALDS game with the Yankees last night. Won 2-0 behind an absolute gem from Severino. Was an 0-0 game through 6, but in the 7th I rallied and had a couple of big base hits from Didi and Gary, driving in two runs and giving us the edge we needed.

Excited to play games 2 and 3 later!

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

This whole Baez being out for 6+ months in my franchise is making ST 2022 a lot of fun. I'll miss having Javier, especially coming off of a 60 HR season, but trying to figure out the best course of action to get a capable replacement is adding a whole new element.

I traded Russell to the Phillies at last years trade deadline so my best true SS is Nick Noonan. Currently, I have Marwin Gonzalez starting there but I signed him to replace the retired Ben Zobrist as my super utility guy. I'm going back and forth on whether to make a Spring trade and over pay or wait and hope a viable replacement is placed on waivers at the end of ST.

It may sound crazy but having him out has made 19 well worth the price. In 8 yrs of this franchise I've only had a starter out for a significant amount of time twice.

This is going to add a whole new twist to trying to defend our WS title!

Well I'm 10-5 right now and sitting in first. Have a lot of guys doing really well w The Padres. Machado is hitting .458, Hosmer .349, Myers .342, Reyes .302. My issue is I used CPU Roster control on so I can export some players but I forgot it eliminates injuries. I'm early enough I can restart and sim but I don't want to lose all these stats...decisions decisions.

You can always manually injure whoever you’d like. Unless them playing an extra 15 games is going to bother you I think that is your best option. The Padres might not be 5 games over .500 again until 2020!

Just tried to continue my franchise from 18, but I continued that from 17, and since I'm not done with my 2017 calendar year, apparently I can't transfer it over.

This means I either have to keep playing The Show 18 till I finish that calendar year, sim the rest of that calendar year, or start a new franchise. Bummer, because I don't really like any of those three options.

In my Cubs Franchise carryover from 18, I lost Pedro Strop in free agency. I offered him 2 years 24m, the green indicator wasn't all the way up but close. Next thing I know he signs with the Rangers for the same amount and they instantly trade him to the Rockies for Ottavino and a SP prospect! I really like the new contracts that you can front load or back load.

Just started spring training. Signed Cody Allen to replace Strop, 4yrs 38 m. He will be my closer after Morrows contract ends this year.

Blech. The CPU should not be trading a guy just signed in free agency. Thank you for making sure I don’t waste a cent on this game.

The best way to play full season as I don't really have time to play full season. Skipped 18 because the removal of season mode
