Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
IMO these guys always need to be re-rated. Seems to me like guys who made their MLB debut the previous season get run through the same rating formula as regular MLB vets, so if they struggled in their 40-50 at bats their attributes are basically nuked. Doesn’t matter how much they were crushing it in AAA.Comment

Franchise has so many more layers of how low a players rating can be, that these prospects aren't rated right for the system. As mentioned, you have to fix it yourselfComment

Cubs get off the schneid and avoid the sweep in Arlington. Cole Hamels couldn't be touched against his former team.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
I started up my 2019 Full Minors Twins Franchise over the weekend because I recalled someone in here saying that you could go a number of ways with the Twins. So far I have played 7 games. I’m sitting at 4-3.
First up was the home opener against the Indians. We took the lead early on a CJ Cron HR to left off of Kluber and then Berrios and the bullpen was lights out shutting out the Indians 3-0. Jonathan Schoop also hit a HR off of Kluber. Game 2 against the undress very different, we couldn’t get anything going off of Bauer until the 6th we fell down 3-0 couple of base hits here and there and we get Cruz up with bases loaded and then he hits a grand slam, CJ Cron followed up with a HR and we took game 2 8-4. Game 3 we got off to an early 3-0 lead and Indians made it close but we pulled it out 4-3.
The Series against the Royals is where it comes apart. We had leads in both games but the bullpen blew and we ended up losing both games by 1 run in extra innings.
I was dreading going to play against the Phillies next but the boys came out to play Marwin Gonzalez led the charge with 2 HR to give us a late lead and Blake Parker closed it out for us. Game 2 vs Phillies we went down early 3-0 and then we went up 7-3 next inning we give up a 3 3 spot to make it 7-6 then they finally tied us up and won it in the 8th 10-7.
The most important thing I will be looking to fix is the pitching staff as a whole. No starter has gone over 5 innings yet. The bullpen isn’t good. I don’t have confidence in anyone other that Hilldemberger and Parker. Another thing, Buxton is my CF for now and the future no matter his offensive production, defense is too valuable to get rid of. It’s going to be a fun one for sure I can’t wait to see how we progress and hopefully dethrone the Indians.Comment

The Pirates franchise is underway. I gave the league no injuries but did real life pirates injuries. In the home opener Taillon went 7ip, 3ER and got the W in a 7-3 victory that included a Kang 2 run double and Bell 3-run bomb in the top of the 9th. Kela and Vazquez closed it out. Pirates sit at 1-0. Next game I will play will be home opener.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
We are currently 7-8 after dropping the series to the Astros. Our pitching is inconsistent at best thus far into the season and we have a guy or two not producing. Hopefully things will change for the better shortly.
Next up is a 3 game road trip in Atlanta against the Braves.
We really need to rattle off 7 out of 10 or something here soon.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Thanks. I have another format I used last year as well that includes all the games from a series, I’ll probably still use that from time to time. It does feel a bit more crowded though.

Cardinals sign veteran reliever Nate Jones to one year deal
In an attempt to shore up their woes in the bullpen, the Cardinals have signed veteran reliever Nate Jones to a one year deal worth $1.8M. Jones will be assigned to Memphis as he gets into shape.
Jones has a rough couple of years the past two seasons with each ending with 5 plus ERA. But last year in 87.2 IP, Jones did compile 110 strikeouts. The Cardinals are hopeful that more of that shows up in St.Louis versus that of the 100 hits or 15 homeruns Jones gave up last year with the White Sox.
Jones will likely spend a week or so at Memphis working to get into shape before being recalled to the parent club. When he's recalled the Cardinals will have a decision to make, as its expected that Adam Cimber will be activated and Dean Kiekhefer will be assigned to Memphis, providing he clears waivers.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

. #3 - Optioned OF Dwight Smith Jr. to Norfolk and purchase the contract of OF Mike Yastrzemski. Yes, Carl’s grandson. The 28 year old was a 14th round pick of the O’s in 2013 and is a career minor leaguer and non-prospect. He was batting .267 with 10 HR and 30 RBI in Norfolk, and will get the shot to make his MLB debut in centerfield on the 11th at home against the Jays.
Yefry Ramirez was solid, allowing just a run on 3 hits and 2 walks over 6 IP with 4 K’s to notch his second major league win. He is much improved after returning from AAA where he was banished for a month after an 0-4 start to the season.
Dylan Bundy is activated from the IL after recovering from a fractured bone in his pitching hand, and he will get the nod for game 2 against the Jays. RHP Gabriel Ynoa is optioned to Norfolk in the corresponding roster move. Another week or 2 to get Santander back from his broken ankle. He had been hitting .278 with 3 homers as our 4th outfielder before the injury. Yastrzemski probably goes back to Norfolk at that point unless he catches fire.Comment
