I’d say it would have to be a bit of an overpay to be realistic. I know the Royals are rebuilding, but they’ve been pretty clear about wanting to keep Whit through this process. Duggar should probably be included, as well as maybe an A or B starting pitching prospect. I could also see throwing someone like Belt in maybe (move Posey to first), because the Royals would probably be willing to absorb an overpriced contract for a decent player that can provide another veteran presence. Plus O’Hearn looks like he might be a AAAA type player, so they have kind of a hole at first. But yeah. The Royals need young controllable arms. Just my 2¢.

Well... Foltynewicz broke his wrist, that sucks. 2-3 months on the DL it looks like. That might end up putting a dent in my rotation for a while. I'm in late April so at least he won't be out for the rest of the season, at least I hope not. Culberson is injured too. He's expected to be out 2-3 months as well. The good news is that I'm still 1st in the NL East, so at least I have that going for me.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Just threw a no hitter with my ace, Jose Lozano. I drafted him as my first round pick when I started this franchise in 2014.
Not the first no hitter I've thrown, but the first since 2014. Did give up a run on a three bag error and a groundout though. 3-1 win, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 BB, 6 SO.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
How long did you develop him in the minors before calling him up?

I know his first MLB start was in the first half of a season though. He was called up due to performance as he had been dominating AAA, but failed to bring that success to the majors and was sent back down.
Edit: should mention that I'm in 2021.. I think.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
I'd have to look at his stats to be sure, but I know I played the long game with him. This is his third year starting on the MLB roster. He had played in the MLB before that, although I'm not sure how much outside of September callups.

Well, I'm obviously a better pitcher than I am a batter. The game says that my teams batting average is 15th in the NL even though I'm leading the NL and have the second best record in the majors at the moment.Comment

Patrick Wisdom hits his 50th homerun of the season
Patrick Wisdom, the reigning National League MVP winner, is on pace to win his second straight MVP award this year. Last night against the Rockies, Wisdom hit 2 homeruns, including his 50th homerun of the season. He is now hitting .279 with 50 homeruns and 110 RBI's and there are still 5 weeks left in the regular season. Wisdom is on pace to hit 63 homeruns this year and drive in 130-135 runs.
Here is Wisdom's 50th homerun of the 2023 season:

Cardinals sign Pedro Strop to one year deal
The Cardinals have signed veteran RHP Pedro Strop to a one year minor league deal. Strop who didn't play at all last season, has stated he would like to try and comeback and pitch. The 38 year old last pitched for the Baltimore Orioles in 2021.
The Cardinals decided to take a chance on Strop as they continue to look to add depth to a bullpen that at times has been erratic, especially at the minor league level. Strop will report to Memphis and likely pitch there until September call ups, when the Cardinals are expected to load up on bullpen arms as they look to get back to the postseason this year after missing out last season.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
