    I took a late-round flier on another 18-year-old catcher, Mark Valley. Also 18, but a 50 overall and a 90 potential.

Eight years later, Paquette's been an all-star, won the silver slugger, and earned World Series MVP in just two seasons of MLB play. Because he seemed like he'd be here a while, I traded Valley for a few spare parts (borderline starter/backup outfielder prospect plus a veteran catcher I flipped for a couple prospects five or so years away from being anything).

Then I forget about it for a year.

Valley gets called up. He starts 153 games for the Mets. And he hits .325 with 50 home runs as a rookie. His overall jumped from 81 to 90. His potential jumped from 90 to 97.

Can't say I regret trading him—the guy was doing me no good as a backup, and Paquette's still among the top catchers in the AL—but I kinda wish I had more to show for my trouble than a backup centerfielder and a couple 18-year-old pitching prospects.
That is the beauty of baseball. I had no idea their potential can increase too. I just had my first draft ever. Can you give me any tips? When do the players become available to my minor league rosters? How should I bring them along to see progress?

I can't begin to count the number of perfect games or no-hitters that I have had broken up in the last two innings. again had one broken up with one out in the eighth inning tonight. I haven't had a no-hitter completed since I played MVP 05.

      So frustrating!!!

as far as my MVP time goes.. first time I didn't win a world series, next season after that... didn't make the world series. I think that that is why it so determined to dominate and own every team in every series I play.

High Heat was awesome. It’s still the only baseball game where I played every pitch of all 162 and won the World Series.

                STARTING OVER...

So I got burned out playing Diamond Dynasty this year. Completed the first six programs, but was merely grinding the last two. Had to take a break, took a little over a month off, and now back to what I enjoy about MLB THE SHOW...FRANCHISE, particularlly my CINCINNATI REDS FANTASY FRANCHISE.

So I decided to start fresh...wiped my hard drive, deleted all my user profiles, dumped all my old spread sheets and started a new. Reloaded MLB 17, 18 & 19. Rebuild my FANTASY FRANCHISE ROSTER. New profile and all new Excel sheets.

I am going to start by playing my franchise in Spring Training in MLB 17 because there are a few key / well liked Red's veterans not available in MLB 18, and there some of the Red's rookies who got called up to early in 2017 and want to keep in the minors a little longer. This way I can give them a fresh start and maybe one or more of them can win R.O.Y. arwards in the future.

After Spring Training i will play the 2017 Regular Season in MLB 18. Continue the 2018 season in MLB 18, then move on to MLB 19 for the 2019 season.

                So to get started, AGAIN...

2017 SPRING TRAINING STARTS (at the end of 2019)...just a little late.

I will be playing All-Star Pitching and All-Star Batting, I struggled last year on All-Star with batting but did okay with pitching. I will be playing with Zone Batting.

                  SPRING TRAINING

                  GAME 1 at SFG

                  Anthony DeSclafani vs Madison Bumgarner

                  PITCHING -
Anthony DeSclafani gets the start, he goes 3 scorless innings and gets a Spring Training WIN.

Brandon Finnegan comes in to pitch the 4th and 5th inning, he strikes out 4 batters, but with two out in the 5th, he walks C - Nick Hundley who is PH and then gives up a double to CF Denard Span. Luckily, Hundley is slow and stops at third base and Finnegan then strikes out RF Hunter Pence to get out of the inning, unscathed.

Tony Cingrani pitches the 6th allowing just a hit, but no runs.

Bronson Arroy comes in the for 7th, Bonson gives up a triple to 2B Joe Panik, even though no error was given, RF Chris Heisey did not play the ball well, should have kept Panik to a double. LF Jarrett Parker flys out to center and Panik crosses home plate. Arroyo gets out of the inning allowing just 1 run. Reds lead 2 - 1.

Michael Lorenzen pitches a scoreless 8th.

Big Guy, Jonathan Broxton, former Red, who was brought back by a trade with St. Louis comes in the 9th shutting the door on the Giants. Broxton struck out 2 and gets the SAVE.

                  BATTING -
                  Bumgarner pitches 3 scoreless innings

The Giants send former Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto to the mound to start the 4th. Cueto gets Billy Hamilton to ground out to start the inning. Then against Joey Votto, Cueto makes a MISTAKE IN LOCATION, and Votto deposits the ball over the wall in right-center field, Votto's first HOMERUN of this young Spring Training. Reds go up 1 to 0. Cueto settles down getting the next two batters out to get out of the fourth.

In the 7th the Reds decide to play small ball to manufacture a run, 2B Pat Valaika singles, then steals second. C Tucker Barnhart moves Valaika to third with a long fly ball to right field. 3B Kristopher Negron decides to strike out, but SS Paul Janish doubles to bring in the run. Reds up 2 - 0.

The Reds WIN 2 to 1, Each team collecting 5 Hits each.

After the game, Manager Bryan Price acknowledges even though it is just Spring Training, getting the first WIN can be a nice morale booster.

Side note, Reds fired Hitting Coach Don Long, replacing him with Rocco Baldelli who was Tampa's 1st Base Coach.

So, I lost my data on my Franchise, and I had to start all over again. This time, I think I'll keep Reed Garrett to see if he pitches well. This time, I have Parker Meadows and Tarik Stubal on the roster. I'll be posting updates when I can.

2025 White Sox Franchise - End of May

White Sox continue to dominate at 43-15, 12.5 games up in division.

yep maxed out at Legend+....Thinking bout adjusting sliders a bit...have been hesitant on doing that. Maybe too hesitant. But think I will make some changes and play some games out of this franchise to see how they play out.
