Pros: Way too many to list. The game play is fantastic.
Cons: The only complaint is that when you are in Franchise and you are looking at the daily games in the calendar it does not show the teams win/loss record.
I've played 4 games so far and I have not seen a wild pitch or passed ball.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Don't have the game yet. Does the starting pitcher still sometimes flip the ball to the skipper when coming off the mound after getting the hook? No way that should ever have been in there, hope it is gone this year.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Only had time for one game so far. I know it's been said already but the new bat sounds are spot on. Something the game has needed for a long time.
Sound of the ball hitting the catchers mitt feels like it's got some weight to it now.
I did seem to have a lot of pop ups in my first game. May have had more to do with getting used to the speed of the game and timing being off though.
Defense felt really smooth, never once noticed any sort of frame rate drop like previous years when it switches to the defensive camera. That new throw meter is fast though!Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
It's early and an extremely small sample, of course, something I'm monitoring are AI errors. They've had multiple throwing errors and booted balls, often on routine plays.
Other than that, everything feels great. Both hitting and pitching feel much better.
The bat sounds are varied and good contact feels rewarding even when not "perfect/perfect" and variety seems improved as well.
And the pitches have more snap and life to them (mostly...there are still some guys who have that floaty feel to their delivery, but its much better overall).
My main gripes are are all things I knew going in: limited franchise, losing a presentation option, and no generic stadiums for rebrands.
Also, I'm good with the changes to speed up presentation for those that want it, but broadcast shouldn't require extra work to get overlays. In fact, I'd like to see them reintroduce some of the little extras the mode once offered...but I digress.
Solid overallComment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Early impressions.
I am blown away by the improved feel, variety and incredible sounds of hitting.
It is truly at a new level. Default HOF Directional.
4 full games and the hit types have been off the charts amazing.
The sound of barreling a ball is heavenly.
CPU base running aggressiveness YES YES YES YES!!!!!! Truth!!!!
Fielding and throwing is the best it has ever been.
Full impressions will come by Monday. I want a weekend playing and exploring all the modes to give a detailed impression for all you peeps.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Got a few games in last night. It feels weird playing this game knowing we won't have baseball in real life for quite a while haha.
Anyways, yea this game is awesome. Playing on HOF w/ Directional hitting. I don't think I've ever played with the throwing meter on, so I still have to get used to that as I'm throwing the ball all over the place.
Frame rate during gameplay has been pretty darn smooth, a lot better than it was in '19 for me so I'm really happy about that. I still see slow downs for sure during cut scenes or if the camera cuts to something other than the action itself. But I can live with that, it's not all that bad.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
first off I'm extremely glad a ton of minor league prospects are already in the game HOWEVER, in no form fashion or function are the default rosters in any way usable to start a franchise. in years past the default rosters with fake players at least had the right amount of players at each position to start, if you weren't interested in everyone being real. but I dont for one minute think 75% full is ''full''. looks like this year OSR*M is more important than anytime in the last 10 years. it looks like a kindergartner had final approval over the default roster in 20

One thing I'm noticing that is a positive for franchise is that in my carryover offseason, the CPU is doing a better job of not overpaying for back end veterans. Used to be that the CPU would offer multiyear contracts that would bite them in the *** down the line. Now they are handing out one year deals to these vets.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Haven’t had to pull someone mid inning yet but its a safe assumption that it’s still there.
Some of these animations makes it seem like the devs have never watched / played the game, which I know is untrue.
Its headscratching lol.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread
Finally got my first game in last night. A’s and Mike Fiers taking on me playing as the Rangers and Corey Kluber. First thoughts...the game is much more polished than previous editions. The game play and the animations are extremely smooth. Best version of the show yet as far as I’m concerned.
As for the game...All Star hitting and pitching level for me. Fiers was tough to hit the first inning , struck me out twice but I was able to break through in the 2nd inning with two runs...neither by homerun. A’s turned around and tied it up in the 3rd and it was 2-2 heading into the 5th when Elvis Andrus went deep for my first home run with the new game. I was able to add on an insurance run in the 6th to make it 4-2 and was feeling pretty good. Kluber was in grove and I felt pretty confident. A’s brought in Diekman in the 7th...he struck out my first two batters and then Odor came up...wasn’t feeling good with the left handed Odor facing a hard slider throwing lefty but Odor crushed one to dead center...nobody even moved. 445ft shot to make it 5-2. Danny Santana homered in the 8th to make it 6-2 and that’s how it ended.
2-7-0 for the A’s
6-11-2 for the Rangers
Game was extremely fun and felt like I earned the win. Kluber had several instances of tough situations and I was able to work out of it. Lots of strategy. Another thing I liked...Fiers pitch count was high very quick...that is the one thing I love about the show is working the pitch counts.
