Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
The Detroit Tigers are perfect as a new franchise.
Zero expectations. A young team with a wave of elite pitching in the pipeline. An old school manager. Plus that beautiful ballpark.
The key is mixing platoons -- C. Stewart's a beast btw -- and getting just enough pitching from an underrated staff led by Boyd.
It's not impossible to imagine a Show scenario where the Tigers shock the baseball world and make a gritty playoff run.Comment

A Trip Around the League: MightyMaxxx13’s COVID-free MLB 2020 Season Simulation
March 30, 2020
Orioles 4, Red Sox 0
Former Red Sock Hector Velazquez held Boston to just 3 singles over 7.1 IP to pick up the win. 28-year-old rookie Phillips Valdez made his first MLB start for Boston and took the loss despite allowing just 1 run in 4 IP.
Rays 4, Yankees 1
Rays move to 4-0 behind 6.1 shutout innings from Yonny Chirinos and homers from Austin Meadows and Brandon Lowe. Jordan Montgomery allowed 2 ER over 5 IP to take the loss.
Reds 16, Blue Jays 3
Reds pounded the Jays in this one, putting up 19 hits. Everyone in the lineup had at least one, but Moustakas led the charge with 5 hits, and 4 RBI’s, including 2 homers and a double. Joey Votto had 4 RBI’s as well.
White Sox 20, Indians 9
The Sox actually came from behind in this one, as Reynaldo Lopez surrendered 6 earned runs and was yanked after recording just one out. Sox would tie the game by the 5th then put up a whopping 10 runs in the 6th off of James Karinchak, Hunter Wood, and James Hoyt. Jose Abreu went deep twice and drove in 6.
Royals 3, Tigers 2
KC gets on the board with their first win of the year, scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the 8th off Rony Garcia. Joe Ross earned the win in relief and Scott Barlow pitched a perfect 9th for the save.
Astros 6, Athletics 3
Josh Reddick and Kyle Tucker both homered for the Stros who had 14 total hits. Tony Kemp hit a 3-run homer off of his former team to account for the Oakland offense.
Twins 4, Mariners 3
Eddie Rosario hit a 3-run bomb in the 6th off of Nestor Cortes to come from behind and the bullpen took care of the rest. David Hale was solid in his first start for the M’s, who fall to 0-5.
Marlins 6, Nationals 2
Robert Dugger got the nod for Miami and picked up his first major league win, completing 5 innings with 5 H, 4 BB, and 2 K’s. Miguel Rojas is off to a hot start for the fish, he was 3-4 with a RBI. Anibal Sanchez was the loser, and walked 7 over 5.1.
Phillies 6, Mets 4
This one was tied until the 8th when the Phils broke through against Walker Lockett. Mets scored one off of Hector Neris in the 9th but he would escape trouble to finish it off. Harper and Realmuto homered and had 2 RBI’s each.
Cubs 6, Pirates 3
Pirates #1 prospect Mitch Keller got the start and fanned 9 over 6.1, exiting with a 3-2 lead. Kyle Schwarber would ruin the party with a 3-run bomb off Michael Feliz to drop the Buccos to 0-4. Kimbrel worked a perfect 9th for the save.
Brewers 5, Cardinals 1
Corbin Burnes scattered 9 hits over 6 IP while allowing just 1 run and striking out 7. The Cards managed 12 total hits in this one and somehow only scored once. Yelich was 3-4 with 2 homers and 4 RBI.
Giants 11, Diamondbacks 9
DBacks made this one interesting with a 5-run 9th inning but couldn’t complete the comeback. Wilmer Flores was 3-5 with a homerun and 5 RBI’s for the Giants.
Dodgers 11, Rockies 2
Another rough pitching performance from the Rockies, as Chi Chi Gonzalez and Jeff Hoffman surrendered 10 runs in 6 innings combined. Joc Pederson drove in 4 and Julio Urias struck out 9 over 6 innings for the win.
Braves 6, Padres 3
Rough game for the Padres who made 3 errors and surrendered 12 hits to the Braves. King Felix pitched into the 7th in his first start as a Brave and earned the win despite walking 4 and allowing 3 runs.

Cardinals trade Steven Matz to Mets
Steven Matz is returning to Queens to reunite with his old team.
The Cardinals and Mets have agreed to a trade that will send LHP Steven Matz back to New York in exchange for OF prospect Luis Cabrera.
The 33 year old Matz will join a Mets pitching staff that has been hit hard by injuries this year, but are still surprisingly still in playoff contention as they are currently just 1 1/2 games out of the wildcard. Matz was signed by St.Louis in the offseason to a one year deal to add depth to their pitching staff, but Matz has spent all of 2025 in Memphis at the Triple-A level. He will join the Mets big league roster where he will likely join the rotation.
In return the Cardinals have received OF Luis Cabrera. The 20 year old has bounced between Double A and Single A this year for Mets, and will right now report to Palm Beach, the Cardinals Single-A affiliate. Cabrera is 5'10 but 192lbs and possesses both raw power and speed. His arm strength will likely land him in right field where the Mets were playing him.
The return may seem light, but remember the Cardinals do get $5MM off their books as they navigate thru the final days of July and the trade deadline.
The Cardinals are still looking to add depth to the bench and bullpen before the deadline passes.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
Phillies take 2 out of 3 this time!
In the midst of my 7 game winning streak right before the All-Star break, which included a 3-game sweep of the Phillies. This time they had Bryce Harper, but K'd him seven times. Making him non exsistent, but I made I sure my pitcher's were on top of their game vs. him. Unfortunately they did didn't treat the other player's the same.
I can't complain about losing the series. My starter's Newk, Folty & Soroka held the Phillies 3ER/game, but just couldn't make through the 3rd time around their line-up.
Game 1 We lost 6-3. Phillies SP Eflin dominated me through 6.0IP and turned it over to their pen.
Game 2 We won 3-2. My SP Folty was on top of his game. Hurling 6.0IP,scattered 9 hits,1ER,1BB & 7K. My bullpen held on to the win. Shaky at best. Both Vizzy & Kimbrel threw alot of pitches, but we made it work.
Game 3 We lost 6-1. Phillies SP Nola pitched into the 8th. Giving up only 5 hits,1ER,1BB & 9K. Poor SP Soroka couldn't make it out the 5th. His pitch count was up to NP(95). Phillies SS Segura was 3B shy of the cycle. He had 3H,3R,1RBI out of the lead-off spot.
Turn the page quickly! My record is 61-46 on to D.C. for a 3 game set vs. the Nats(60-46). We are both atop of WC by 1.0GB of the D-backs & Cards.
I made some transactions before starting the series vs. the Phillies.
The Mets offered RP Avilan for RP Winkler. Who was in the minors. Accepted.
I traded for 3B Donaldson possible replacement for next year, with the A's. 3B Pinder in return for SP Gohara, 3B Unroe & C Jackson (all in the minors). Pinder is 27 yrs of age and 2yrs of arbritation remaining. His defensive attributes are better than Donaldson at this stage and with surprisingly good power vs R(70)/L(67).
The Royals released OF Alex Gordon $20M contract. I signed him as a FA for $600K. Defensively: Reac(77),Arm Str(89) & Fldg(76) at age 35 is still way above board.
Since my current roster strategy is PLAYOFF PUSH, I am making the moves for the Postseason run.Comment

JUNE 16, 2020 | CHICAGO, IL
A solo homer to lead off the top of the 10th by Wilson Ramos and a two-run single by Robinson Cano in the top of the 10th was enough to end the Cubs modest four-game winning streak Tuesday night as the Chicago Cubs fell to the New York Mets at Wrigley Field 6-3 in extra innings.
Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks tossed seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits in the no-decision. Mets hard-throwing righty Noah Syndergaard completed seven innings of his own, striking out eight. Syndergaard also earned a no-decision.
The Cubs tied the game in the bottom of the eights with Kris Bryant's 16th home run of the year. But Dan Winkler struggled in extra innings, allowing three runs on just 2/3 innings as the Cubs suffered the loss.Last edited by Gagnon39; 04-28-2020, 11:07 PM.Comment
