Anyone ever have on of their top prospects go down with an injury right before you intended to call him up. Top pitching prospect took one on the head....OUT FOR THE SEASON(6 months) smh. Looks like I will get an extra year out of him.

With the 3 monster SP's I added and the influx of RP's and needing to keep Conforto/Ramos/Cespedes on the team... looks like the time is coming to trade Cano's massive contract.
It saddens me but as the trade deadline gets closer, tough times are coming up.
Will be kicking myself though if we end up needing him in the post season and traded him too early and don't win it all.
Might just trade him in the off-season then, very conflicted.Comment

JUNE 24, 2020 | CINCINNATI, OH
The Chicago Cubs belted eight home runs in an 18-4 drubbing of the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday afternoon, extending their winning streak to seven games. Steven Souza Jr., Victor Caratini, and Jason Kipnis hit back-to-back-to-back solo homers off of Reds starter Wade Miley in the top of the second inning to start the onslaught. Javier Baez and Kris Bryant were the only two positions players not to hit home runs. But despite not launching any longballs, both Cubs sluggers ended the day with impressive numbers.
Baez, who has to be in consideration for the NL MVP if he continues to play the way he has during the first half, finished with a double, triple and a pair or RBIs. Baez was thrown out at home in an attempted inside-the-park homerun.
Ian Happ and Steven Souza each homered twice and Tyler Chatwood enjoyed an abundance of run support on way to his 5th win of the year.
The Cubs racked up a total of 23 hits in the win and continue to be baseball's most potent offense. Their 153 home runs is the most in the Majors and 17 more than the next closest team (Oakland Athletics). The Cubs, like many other clubs last season, set a new team franchise record for home runs with 256. The Minnesota Twins set a new MLB record with 307 long balls. At the half way point in the season, the Cubs are set to shatter their single season franchise record for home runs and could possibly set a new mark for the league. An impressive feat for a National League team especially, considering they do not have the luxury of the designated hitter for most of their games.Comment

Cardinals place Carlos Martinez on 15 Day IL
The Cardinals have placed RHP Carlos Martinez on the 15 Day IL due to shoulder tightness. Martinez left Monday's start against the Pirates after one batter complaining of the issue. The Cardinals probably could've waited a few days to see if Martinez feels better, but with their lead in the division they felt it best to let the 33 year old rest and take the next two weeks off.
Daniel Ponce De Leon was recalled from Memphis to fill the open roster spot.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

A Trip Around the League: MightyMaxxx13’s COVID-free MLB 2020 Season Simulation
April 4, 2020
White Sox 7, Red Sox 3
White Sox put up a 6 spot in the 5th behind 3-run homers from Yoan Moncada and Eloy Jimenez. Eloy also hit a solo shot in the 4th off Marcus Walden, who took the loss. Gio Gonzalez allowed 2 runs over 6 and got the W.
Yankees 4, Blue Jays 0
Yanks snap their 4 game skid behind another scoreless outing from JA Happ, who pitched 6 innings with 6 K’s. He’s pitched 12 scoreless innings to start the season. Gio Urshela was 3-4 and drove in 3 runs. Chase Anderson walked 4 over just 4 innings and took the loss.
Indians 3, Tigers 2
Jose Ramirez led the charge with 2 hits, a homer, and 2 RBI’s. Adam Plutko scattered 7 hits over 5 IP and got his first win. Brad Hand pitched a perfect 9th for his second save.
Royals 3, Mariners 1
Royals pick up their 4th straight win behind a solid outing from Brad Keller and a 2-run double from Adalberto Mondesi. The woeful Mariners are now 0-9 to start the year, scoring their only run on a sac fly from Kyle Lewis.
Athletics 6, Twins 2
A’s hit 4 homers, including 2 from Mark Canha. Canha is one of the hottest hitters in the game so far, batting .375 and leading the majors with 7 deep flies already. Chris Bassitt pitched 7 innings for the win and Homer Bailey allowed 5 runs in as many innings for the loss.
Astros 7, Angels 6
Angels took a 6-4 lead into the top of the 9th and let it slip away as the Stros hung a 3-spot on Hansel Robles and Ryan Buchter. Cionel Perez earned the win in relief and Jose Altuve was 4-6 with 2 RBI’s. Ohtani started this one and got the hook after walking 5 men in 4 IP.
Rangers 4, Rays 3
For the second day in a row the Rangers win on a come-from-behind 2-run double from Nick Solak, this time in the 7th off of Oliver Drake. Jacob Rhame earned the win in relief and Jose Leclerc pitched a 1-2-3 9th for his 4th save. Rangers are 8-1.
Marlins 4, Braves 1
Fish got to Sean Newcomb for 3 runs in the first and made it stand up. Pablo Lopez and 4 relievers combined to limit the Braves to just 4 hits. Jeff Brigham finished it off for his first career save.
Nationals 3, Mets 2
Patrick Corbin exited this one in the 3rd with elbow inflammation, but Austin Voth would come on with 4.1 shutout innings for the win. Sean Doolittle pitched a shaky 9th (2 hits and a run) but hung on to finish the save. Corbin is day-to-day.
Phillies 5, Brewers 2
Rhys Hoskins was 3-4 with 2 runs scored, a double, and a stolen base. JT Realmuto added a 2-run homer and Zach Eflin pitched into the 7th to win it. Hector Neris secured his 4th save despite loading the bases in the 9th.
Cubs 13, Diamondbacks 3
Career night for Ian Happ who puts up a jaw-dropping stat line. 3-4 with a walk, a double, 2 homers, 4 runs scored, and EIGHT RBI’s. Jon Lester pitched 8 innings for the win. Kimbrel came on in the 9th to get some work with a 12-run lead and allowed 4 walks, a hit, and 2 runs.
Pirates 5, Reds 2
Gregory Polanco hit a grand slam in the first inning off of Luis Castillo and later drove in the 5th run with a base hit. Joe Musgrove pitched the 5 innings he needed to win it and Keone Kela notched his second save.
Orioles 2, Cardinals 1
Another tight game between these two. All 3 runs were scored in the 9th, with Chris Davis’ 2-run shot off John Brebbia being enough to edge Goldschmidt’s solo blast off Mychal Givens.
Padres 8, Rockies 7
Typical Coors Field affair, as both teams homered 4 times. Wil Myers and Tommy Pham combined for 5 hits and 5 RBI’s to lead the charge for San Diego and Arenado homered twice for the Rockies. Padres won it in the top of the 11th off of Jake McGee and Kirby Yates picked up his first save of the season.
Dodgers 5, Giants 4
David Price has his first win as a Dodger despite allowing 8 hits and 4 runs over 5 IP. Justin Turner homered for the Dodgers and Hunter Pence homered twice for the Giants.
LEAGUE TRANSACTIONS
Astros release RHP Jon Edwards
Mariners purchase the contract of RHP Fernando Salas from the Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League. He will report to AAA Tacoma but most likely works his was into the thin Mariners bullpen at some point.Comment

42-50
4th place AL Central
7.5 GB (Cleveland)
A sloshy, muddy grind. Won four straight to get to 40-42 only to drop six in a row.
Pitching and hitting are both fairly stabilized at this point and unfortunately it just kinda feels like this is what we are, namely a below-.500 team. I had myself damn near convinced I could pull off some magic. And maybe I still can. But it just feels like the writing is on the wall and we’re headed for 75 wins.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
My friend it looks you have the NL Central sown up! Good luck on another deep Post Season run....
Cardinals sweep Cubs in St.Louis
The Cardinals (71-40) swept their rivals the Cubs in a series at Busch Stadium in St.Louis over the weekend. The sweep included a pair of shutouts along with a walkoff.
Game 1 (1-0): The Cardinals got a dominant pitching performance from Jack Flaherty who would survive 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball before being removed for Tyler Jay. Flaherty would get the win (9-8) thanks to Kolten Wong's solo homerun in the 5th inning. The Cardinals would only get the one hit, compared to 9 by the Cubs but would still win the game 1-0 to start the series. Greg Holland would record his 24th save of the season.
My friend it looks like you got the NL Central sown up! Shaping up nicely for a deep Post Season run....
Game 2 (5-4): This time the bats were louder but the Cubs put up runs as well. The Cardinals led 4-0 after 4 innings, but the wheels came off for starter Junior Fernandez in the 5th as he would give up 3 runs before being removed for the bullpen. The Cardinals would hold a 4-3 lead going into the 8th only to watch Zack Burdi blow the lead and give up the tying run on a RBI double by Alex Bregmann. Greg Holland would come on in the 9th with 2 outs to replace Tyler Jay and record the 3rd out by striking out Mark Zunigas with 2 on and 2 out. The bottom of the 9th would see Jo Adell deliver a walkoff single scoring Harrison Bader from 2nd to win the game.
Game 3 (3-0): Once again the pitching of the Cardinals would be on display as Kyle Funkhouser would bounce back from his poor start against the Giants to pitch a complete game, 1 hit shutout. Funkhouser had a perfect game until the 7th when Andres Gimenez would single to right. Funkhouser ended up with 6 strikeouts. The Cardinals would get 3 runs, with the first being a sac fly by Funkhouser. Brendan McKay and Jo Adell would deliver back to back RBI doubles in the 7th to secure the win.
The Cardinals will remain home for the next week as they host the Pirates starting Monday for 3 games before the Rockies come to town for a 4 game weekend series. The Cardinals will look to expand on their 10 1/2 game lead over the 2nd place Brewers.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
A deadline Trade offer
I was surprised by this offer from the Red Sox. But I forgot this the virtual world of MLB. Red Sox 3B Devers sucks for them:.231/.293/.320, OPS .413, 2HR,14RBI & 169 AB. He is platooning only playing against righties.
They are in a division lead fight between them and who else the NYY. They don't want the WC, they want the 5 game series shot!
What made this so cool for me is that I didn't have 3B Donaldson on the trading block. The CPU picked up on him being a FA in 2020. Josh is mostly definitely an upgrade: .291/.308/.554, OPS .862, 25HR,70RBI. H&^l they could've at-least included Devers in the deal, but he doesn't become eligible for FA for another 4yrs. Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
Game 1 vs the Reds ends in a Walk-off!
The pitching match-up was SP Folty(Braves) vs SP DeSclafani. Folty has been on a roll his last 3 games. It must be true because Mr. "D.J. Dan", who he is commonly called at MLB Network acknowledged it.
We jumped to a 2-0 lead thru 2 inn. But the top of the 4th, the Reds scored 4 times. With the rally being started off by SP DeSclafani single. Folty was sharp all game he had given up by 6 hits by the first 2 innings, but did a great job of leaving em stranded. SP Folty held on for 5.0IP,8H,5ER,1BB & 4K. SP DeSclafani on the mount settled down for 6.0IP,5H,4ER,0BB & 6K. He was even more impressive at the plate going: 3 for 3, HR,2B,1B & 1RBI. He was singled handed responsible for beating us.
But they're 27 outs in a MLB game and SP DeSclafani only got 18 of them. His CP R. Iglesias blew if for them trying to obtain outs 25,26 & 27. 1B Freeman led off the bttm of the 9th with a 2B over the LF Winker head. Up the next, is the soon to be top 3 NL MVP candidate CF Acuna Jr. First base was opened, but I guess since he was 1 for 3. McCann who was hitting behind him was a lefty and already homer earlier in the game. They decided to pitch to him. Resulted in a 2R Walk-off HR. We won 6-5! Record is now 65-46
I have to get a lil steady or focus at my photo takingComment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
I can't lose right now...
JUNE 26, 2020 | BRONX, NY
The Yankees scored three runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning off of southpaw Jon Lester, but that was all they would score, as the Cubs came back yet again to win their ninth straight game, topping the Yankees in the Bronx, 4-3.
After falling behind 3-0 in the first, the Cubs came roaring back in the top of the second. Jason Hewyard put a ball in the right field stands on a solo homer, his eighth of the year, to get the Cubs on the board. Three batters later Jason Kipnis belted a no-doubt homer to right off of Yankees hurler Luis Severino to tie the game, 3-3.
Neither team scored another run until Jason Heyward's line drive inched over Yankees third baseman Gio Urshela to bring Kyle Schwarber in to score from second in the ninth inning. Trailing by one run in the bottom of the ninth, the Yankees would make it interesting as Tyler Hicks smacked his second double of the game into the left-center field gap. However, Cubs closer and long-time Yankees nemesis Craig Kimbrel recorded the final three outs of the game en route to his 22nd save of the year as the Cubs solidified their ninth consecutive victory.
Over the last couple weeks the Cubs have proved to not only to be baseball's most potent offense, but also arguably the most resilient team as well. During the Cubs current nine-game winning streak, the team has trailed in seven of the games, often late and have seen a number of walk-off and extra inning victories during the streak.
"It's been an amazing couple weeks," said Cubs first year manager David Ross. "This is a special group and they show it pretty much every day... we're never out of a ballgame and we've proven that time and again this year."
The Cubs will look to push their winning streak to 10 games tomorrow night as Kyle Hendricks (7-3, 4.24) will take the mound against James Paxton (7-5, 4.83). The Cubs have a comfortable 9.0 game lead in the NL Central division over the second place Milwaukee Brewers.Comment
