      JUNE 19, 2020 | CHICAGO, IL

Chris Sale struck out 11 hitters and the Boston Red Sox had a 4-0 lead after four innings, but the Chicago Cubs rallied late, eventually winning in 10 innings to earn their third consecutive victory. Cubs starter Yu Darvish struggled early but settled in, striking out 10 batters through 6 1/3 inning. Darivsh allowed two runs in the top of the first and another pair in the top of the fourth, earning the no-decision in the Cubs come-from-behind victory.

Kris Bryant singled home a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Cubs on the board and cut the Red Sox lead to 4-1. However, the big blow came a few innings later when Ian Happ belted a game-tying, three-run homer into the right field bleachers.

In the bottom of the 10th David Bote lined a ball that skipped just under the glove of Red Sox right fielder Alex Verdugo. As the ball rolled all the way to the ivy-covered wall, Anthony Rizzo rounded third and scored easily for the game-winning run.

"That was an incredible game, all around," said Ian Happ after the game. "Right now we're just coming through when it matters most and we're showing just how talented this team can be."

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

        Swept the Nats in D.C.

It was a very important 3 game series against a division rival and postseason candidate. My starting pitching for this series stepped up big time. It was kinda ironic that these 3 SP(Fried, Teheran & Newcomb) is whom I envisioned starting my first 3 in a play-off series.

Game 1: SP Stratsburg offense gave him an early lead 2-0. My SP Fried stop the bleeding because that is all they got! My offense rose up in the top of the 5th,scoring 4 unanswered runs. The 5th inning scoring was topped off by a 2R HR blast by Freeman. SP Fried went 7.0IP,4H,2R,2ER,1BB,6K. We won 4-2!

Game 2: SP Corbin was very sharp vs. us 10 days ago in Atlanta. Going 6.0IP,8K,1ER, but not on this day! My offense blasted 4HR's off this guy. Top of the 1st; Freeman and Donaldson went back-to-back and in the 5th Albies & Duvall went deep on SP Corbin. My SP Teheran was the benefactor of this run support and he didn't disappoint: pic attached of his stat line. We won 6-2!

Game 3: SP Hellickson vs. SP Newcomb. Very good pitching match-up. Hellickson has pitched very well against us. 10 days ago his pitching line was similar, 6.0IP,2ER, less K's 6 this time compared to 11. SP Newcomb outlasted him by going 7.0IP, 5H, 0ER,1BB & 9K.
C McCann supplied the offensive support: 2R HR in top of the 2nd.

Our record improved to 64-46. We are still 1.0GB of the NYM in the NL East, but up 2.5 in the WC over the D-Backs. Headed back to Truist Park for a 4 game home weekend stand vs. the Reds(54-53). Game 7 of a 17 games straight portion of the schedule. I am going to give guys days off, but I got to be smart doing it. We are @ the Twins next, so I can use the DH. We called up LF Alex Gordon to see how I can play with him. In a corresponding move optioned LF Joyce to AAA. He was doing well as Pinch hitter for us: .293/.325/.453, 2HR,9RBI.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Looking for some opinions on my Rays franchise. I’m only 5 games in at this point and Chirinos (SP) just took a line drive off his head and will be out 1-2 weeks. I don’t think I have any choice but to place him on the 15 day DL. He’d miss at least 1 start and probably 2.

The obvious choices to bring up are McKay or Richards from AAA to MLB and either O’Brien (24 year old, 63 OVR, C) or Honeywell (24, 62, B) from AA to AAA for the starts.

I was trying to wait on bringing McKay up until he could stay on roster (later in year). SP depth is below. How would you handle? Bring up the older, but lower rated AAA pitcher (Richards) and let McKay develop or bring up McKay and move him down in 2 weeks?

              Charlie Morton (MLB, 90, 36, A)
              Blake Snell (MLB, 89, 27, A)
              Tyler Glasnow (MLB, 82, 26, A)
              Ryan Yarbrough (MLB, 80, 28, B)
              Yonny Chirinos (MLB, 75, 26, B)
              Anthony Banda (AAA, 69, 25, B)
              Brendan McKay (AAA, 72, 23, A)
              Trevor Richards (AAA, 70, 25, B)
              John Doxakis (AA, 66, 21, B)
              Josh Fleming (AAA, 64, 23, D)

              Riley O’Brien (AA, 63, 24, B)
              Michael Plassmeyer (AAA, 63, 23, C)

McKay and Richards are on my 40. McKay is the next man up and will move up when one of my starters is gone (trade, free agency). I didn’t want to bring him up yet but not sure if I should sacrifice a lesser talent just to leave McKay down.

I'd probably trade a prospect and/or MLB reliever for a starter in the 78+ range with high stamina. Then you can either trade him when your guy gets back or put him in the bullpen.

I’d bring up Richards. It’s only two starts at most and bringing up McKay and then sending down isn’t something I’m a fan of, especially this early in the year.

Bring up Richards and let McKay continue to develop would be my move

                              JUNE 20, 2020 | CHICAGO, IL

For the second straight game the Chicago Cubs scored the wining run in the last inning to best the visiting Boston Red Sox. After David Bote completed a come-from-behind victory yesterday with an RBI single in the 10th, Anthony Rizzo belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth Saturday night at Wrigley Field as the Cubs bested the Red Sox by a final of 6-4.

Jon Lester faced off against his former team but earned the no-decision after six innings of work. Lester allowed four runs on six hits while recording just one strikeout. Brad Weick earned the win and improved to 2-0 on the year.

The Cubs victory, their fourth consecutive, may have come with a price as NL MVP candidate Willson Contreras left the game with an apparent leg injury. Contreras will be evaluated by team doctors tomorrow.

                                Game never ceases to amaze.

Running a 30-team control franchise. About 20 games into the season, the Red Sox lineup was really scuffling. Moreland and Pillar were hitting sub .200 and the bench was too heavily-skewed towards middle infielders (Lin, Arauz, Peraza). Mired in a 6-game losing streak, I sent a middling relief prospect to Detroit for Brandon Dixon, who was languishing in AAA with Cron/Cabrera occupying 1B/DH duties in the bigs and some young outfielders taking precedence.

First game following the trade I inserted Dixon into the lineup against Mike Clevinger and, whaddya know...2 HR, 6 RBI, and a 13-3 Red Sox romp.
