What other plans are you looking at to improve the team for the upcoming season?
We ended up signing Anthony Rendon to a one year $15M deal to bridge the gap until we get Nolan Gorman ready.

We really went after depth for pitching. We added Steven Matz on a year deal for $8M (he missed all last year with injury) and Tyler Beede. We re-worked our bullpen to try and get depth, but we also dealt away Trevor Rosenthal since he was upset he wasn't the closer to the Tigers for prospects. Adam Cimber was our biggest addition and we brought back Pedro Baez, and added John Gant.

We re-signed Stephen Piscotty and brought back Tommy Pham as we are considering using Piscotty as the 26th man to be primarily a spot defender but a pinch hitter. Pham is an insurance policy if Jo Adell struggles again this year. I almost dealt him during the offseason but didn't.

We really didn't add much else aside from resigning as I thought we had a decent core, but again the blow of losing Wisdom, one of the best players in baseball was tough.

Starting with my Blue Jays. I have only signed Tim Beckham at this point to compete for a bench spot. I have considered signing Puig to play in the outfield for us and rotate the DH. I think I will start as is and see how Beckham does in AAA. If anyone struggles to start, I might grab Puig!

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Hi guys, feedback & question regarding importing a saved franchise from '19. I'm about 50 games into my 2020 season and trying to weigh the pro's & con's of using this save in 20

          Pros
-Stats: I had some guys put up monster numbers in 19 and off to a great start in 20.
-Bank/Budget/Etc: Roughly 34M banked with great contracts , top sponsorship, etc.
Roster: Very happy with my current team, got Lindor on the cheap, signed Mattingly out of the gate

          Cons
-Missing face scans on some Legends, CC Sabathia being one, noticed other MLBers without updated scan, i.e. Vlad Jr
          -Loss of full minors
          -Bank/Sponsor reset

          So 2 parter:
          1. What would you do?
          2. Let's say I keep running with the 19 save, will the 20 players ever make their way into the games Free Agency? , i.e. Mariano Rivera, David Ortiz, or any of the new Legends? Or is that logic not built into the game

just had a battle vs the Braves where I won on a walk off hit in the bottom of the 9th

                Won 1-0

                Soroka - 7 IP, 1 hit 12 K's
                Paddack - 7 IP, 1 hit, 7 K's

My only hit off Soroka was by Paddack. Just a pure pitchers duel. My run came in the bottom of the 9th and 2 outs. Pham singled, stole second and then Mejia drove him home.

Can you start your franchise in the offseason like you can in the 2K series? I would love to start by making different moves.

                    No

Either start at Spring Training or regular season

Errors doom Cardinals in Spring Opener

Defensive miscues by the Cardinals lead to a 5-1 defeat to the Mets to open Spring Training. The Cardinals committed a total of 5 errors this game, 3 in a 3 run (all unearned) 3rd inning. It started with a Kolten Wong throwing error, followed by Anthony Rendon booting a ball, and then Paul DeJong sailing a sure double play ball over Wong's head at 2nd base. By the time it was over the Cardinals gave up 3 runs on 3 errors and 0 hits.

The Cardinals offense sputtered as they only managed 5 hits today, including a solo homerun by Juan Fabregas who missed all but 2 games of the 2024 season.

Kyle Funkhouser was strong in his inning striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. Steven Matz was the unfortunate recipient of the error filled 3rd inning and suffered the loss. Jordan Hicks allowed the 2 earned runs when he gave up a 2 run blast in the 8th to Ian Rice.

Next up the Cardinals face the Mets again. Carlos Martinez will start for the Cardinals.

I started my Brewers franchise and I’m through the two first series of the season. So far we’re off to a pretty decent start. We’re 4-2 and our offense has really been carrying us. We went 1-2 to the cubs and swept the cardinals and that’s were we are right now.

                          Our primary lineup is:
                          Lorenzo Cain CF
                          Keston Hiura 2B
                          Christian Yelich RF
                          Ryan Braun 1B
                          Omar Navarez C
                          Avasail Garcia LF
                          Brock Holt SS
                          Eric Sogard 3B

                          Rotation:
                          Brandon Woodruff
                          Josh Lindbolm
                          Freddy Peralta
                          Adrian Houser
                          Eric Lauer

                          The Pen:
                          Jake Faria
                          Corbin Burnes
                          Alex Claudio
                          Collin McHugh (FA signing)
                          David Phelps
                          Brent Suter
                          Corey Knebel - SU
                          Josh Hader - CP

I’m going to try and keep up and give updates of series and notable other info.

Not too bad. I have 4 99 players (LF Matthew Masters, RF Brock Mantle, SP Chip Cook, and 3B Cameron Gabriel).

Progression isn't too bad although I had a star player a few years ago (SS Octavio Domoromo) really fall off a cliff vs RHP so he's become a platoon player.

I'm a real good drafter and trader so I replenish my minor league system with talent.

How bad do the overall rosters look though? Lots of 99s? Worst players on the teams being 80’s?
